Incubator Plan and Fast Casual franchise Between Rounds Café offer Fresh Start

June 17, 2015 //  by admin

location imageFast casual dining is the fastest growing segment in the restaurant industry. Looking to get in on the ground floor? Between Rounds Bakery Sandwich Café, a unique fast casual bakery café and bagel shop with locations throughout Connecticut, has rolled out an “Incubator Plan”, a low-entry Kiosk franchise option with a reduced franchise fee.

How it Works

With Between Rounds’ Incubator Plan, the franchise fee for a Between Rounds Kiosk store has been reduced from $20K to $5K. The franchise fee covers hard costs such as legal work, store design and menu board design.

Between Rounds’ Kiosk business model is unique in that it enables convenience and gas station store owners/operators (including third party owners who pay rent) to increase profits from their existing locations by offering Between Rounds fresh baked bagels and baked goods as well as breakfast and lunch sandwiches, wraps, salads, soups and specialty coffees. Ultimately, store traffic increases and leads to additional sales from products that are already sold. Patrons will enjoy Between Rounds’ neighborhood feel, their modern, comfortable interior and delicious food. Plus all locations offer free Wi-Fi for customers.

The overall investment for a Between Rounds Kiosk is approximately $120K. Financing for Kiosk operations is available through third parties.

Between Rounds franchised their first Kiosk store model in Tolland in 2013. That successful franchise, owned and operated by Sami Kahn, is located at 206 Merrow Road, at the Citgo Express Gas Station.  According to Kahn, “I had looked into a number of coffee and fast food opportunities and was very impressed with Between Rounds from the start.  The products are very high quality and very fresh because they are made every day.  That is my main motivation – to provide the best product possible to customers.”

For more information about the Between Rounds Bakery Sandwich Café opportunities, visit http://franchise.betweenroundsbagels.com.

BOSTON, BRAINTREE AND QUINCY, MA…

Baker, Braverman & Barbadoro P.C., a dynamic full-service law firm with a team of attorneys advising individuals, businesses and families throughout Quincy, Braintree, the South Shore and metro Boston areas, recently formalized a special division for clients interested in attaining certification status through the Massachusetts’ Supplier Diversity Office (SDO). Firm attorneys and legal staff working in this division have experience and understanding of the SDO marketplace.

SDO, formerly known as the State Office of Minority and Women Business Assistance, is an agency within the Massachusetts state government that helps promote the development of business enterprises and non-profit organizations owned and operated by minorities or women. A key component of SDO’s mandate is to certify companies that meet SDO’s criteria for women and minority-owned businesses and to enable such businesses to participate in affirmative business opportunities with government agencies.

“SDO certification provides an important competitive advantage for companies bidding to do business with state and local government agencies. For example, the Commonwealth of Massachusetts spends more than $4 billion each year doing business with private companies. More than $240 million of this amount is targeted specifically to SDO certified businesses,” said Theresa Barbadoro, Esq., an attorney with Baker, Braverman & Barbadoro, P.C. “So although we have been working with SDO businesses for the past decade, the new division will enable us to better serve these clients as our employees working in the division will have specific experience and training in SDO certification.”

Companies that receive SDO certification are listed in a directory of certified minority and women business enterprises and non-profit organizations. In effect, the certification makes SDO companies the preferred vendors for public and private companies have pledged to seek out women and minority owned business vendors.

Suffolk County Constable’s Office, Inc. (“SCCO”) recently gained SDO certification with the assistance of the Firm’s new division. SCCO provides warrant apprehension, civil process serving, evictions and judgment recovery services.

“We have already seen an increase in our business with the SDO certification,” said Suzanne Morrison, the owner and president of SCCO, “we are excited as we know that the SDO certification will continue to open up new opportunities for us as we grow our business.”

For more information about Baker, Braverman & Barbadoro’s SDO division, please call (781) 202-6929.

Atria’s Marland Place, owned by Atria Senior Living Group, will be a senior living community for Andover’s active older adults.

The $4 million renovation of the former textile mill included a complete gut and demo of the entire interior of building, as well as a repointing of the entire brick façade.

In addition, the renovated building features: all new electrical, HVAC, plumbing and Life Safety; new framing and reconfiguration of existing space to accommodate needs of incoming administrative offices with continuous ongoing consultation as to maintaining historical aspects of the building; site work around entire building to facilitate new MEP hookups and feeds as well as ensuring proper drainage; construction of a new elevator and shaft for ADA compliance; and roofing, flashing and moisture protection.

OCES, Brockton COA and HarborOne Bank to “March Against Elder Abuse” on Monday, June 15th

June 9, 2015 //  by admin

OCES logoOld Colony Elder Services (OCES), the Brockton based regional agency serving older adults and individuals with disabilities, has joined forces with Brockton Council on Aging (COA) and HarborOne Bank to “March Against Elder Abuse” on Monday, June 15, 2015 at 12 p.m. starting at the Brockton COA, 10 Father Kenney Way. The event will be held rain or shine.

World Elder Abuse Awareness Day (WEAAD) is June 15, 2015; in an effort to raise awareness of elder abuse, OCES, Brockton COA and HarborOne Bank have organized the march down Main Street. Community members are invited to join the “March Against Elder Abuse” starting at the Brockton COA and walking down Main Street to OCES at 144 Main Street, then returning to the COA. Participants will receive a free T-shirt (while supplies last).

Following the walk, a complimentary lunch and a special presentation will be held at the Brockton COA. Raising Awareness

Elder abuse includes financial exploitation, emotional, physical, and sexual abuse or neglect. According to the National Center on Elder Abuse, family members (spouses, adult children, partners and others) comprise the majority of abusers. Additionally, research indicates that individuals with dementia are at even greater risk for elder abuse.

“World Elder Abuse Awareness Day is an opportunity to share information and spread awareness about abuse, neglect, and exploitation of older adults. We can make a difference and encourage the community to join our ‘March Against Elder Abuse’ on Monday June 15th,” noted Diana DiGiorgi, Executive Director at OCES.

OCES encourages supporters to wear purple on June 15th to show awareness.

There is no cost to attend the lunch, but reservations are required. RSVP by June 8, 2015 to Lisa Mullin by calling 508-584-1561 extension 220 or email lmullin@ocesma.org, or call the Brockton COA at 508-580-7811.

Falconi Energy Announces Ductless Cooling Systems

June 5, 2015 //  by admin

Falconi_vertical logo red smallThere’s a lot to be said for everyday comfort. During the summer, many of us enjoy an air-conditioned commute to a temperature-controlled workplace and, lunch at an air-conditioned restaurant. Yet, at the day’s end, we go home to a stifling house.

Falconi Energy, a leading supplier of premium heating oil and a full-service heating and cooling company based in Southborough, MA offers a “cool” solution for homeowners who have old, inefficient window air conditioner units and those who do not have central air or the ducted system required for it.

Falconi Energy provides brand leader Mini-Split Ductless Cooling Systems that are energy efficient and highly effective. Instead of central air’s bulky and costly ducts and indoor evaporator unit, a ductless cooling system utilizes thin copper tubing, and the compressor and condenser units are located outside the home.

At half the cost of a central air system and noticeably quieter than inefficient, conventional window units, mini-split ductless cooling systems are the future of home comfort. Advantages include energy cost-savings, same-day installation, and room-by-room zoned comfort. Ductless cooling systems also improve indoor air quality with a multi-stage filtration system that reduces dust, pollen and allergens in the home.

Recycle Old Window A/C Units

Catering to the homeowner’s unique cooling requirements, Falconi Energy provides custom installation of single zone or multi-zone wall, floor, and ceiling mounted units. Mini-Split Ductless Cooling Systems are affordable and begin at $3,500 installed. The company offers 0 percent loan programs for qualified customers to help with the transition to a new ductless cooling system. Falconi Energy will also recycle old window air conditioner units, and encourages “trade-in” of window units at the time of ductless system installation.

“New technology makes it simple to have the same comfort as a central air system at a fraction of the cost,” explained Jim Falconi, president. “Not only that, but unlike central air, split ductless cooling systems do not use harsh coolant so they are better for the environment. Homeowners now have an environmentally-friendly, energy efficient, cost-effective (and quiet) way to cool their homes.”

Ductless Mini-Split Heat Pump Rebate

Homeowners who opt for a Ductless Mini-Split cooling unit with heat pump (which provides cooling and heating for year-round comfort) may be able to take advantage of additional savings by way of a COOL SMART rebate. To learn more about the Ductless Mini-Split Heat Pump rebate and download a brochure and application, visit www.masssave.com/residential/heating-and-cooling.

VoiceNation’s Revolutionary Open Source Answering Service Software Set to Launch June 22nd

June 5, 2015 //  by admin

Jay Reeder, CEO
Jay Reeder, CEO

VoiceNation, the industry leader in live answering and virtual receptionist services, is set to launch their revolutionary OpenAnswer answering service software on June 22, 2015.

For the past 15 years, VoiceNation has been spearheading innovations in live answering and virtual phone solutions, helping call centers navigate the waters of “going open source”. With the upcoming release of OpenAnswer, the most intuitive, intelligent open source answering service software available, the call center industry will have a collaborative solution made freely available to the public.

OpenAnswer is based on cutting edge technology and open standards without the restrictions of binding contracts, so call center owners will now have complete control over their operation. This is the same state of the art software in use currently at VoiceNation’s live answering call center.

“Agent stations will no longer cost thousands of dollars to deploy. Nor will call center owners get tied into lengthy vendor contracts. With OpenAnswer, call center owners get the flexibility they need without the one size fits all proprietary software constraints. Nothing this groundbreaking has been done in the industry to date,” explained Jay Reeder, CEO, who was named one of “The 20 Highest Rated Telecom CEOs To Work For in 2014” by GetVoIP.com.

OpenAnswer is freely available to download, install, and modify. There are no licensing fees and call center owners get unlimited seats and scalability in their call center. Since it is open source, call center owners can share their code changes with the budding OpenAnswer community at VoiceNation.com/OpenAnswer.

Key Features

The OpenAnswer operator screen is completely browser based, using modern web technology. OpenAnswer is operating system independent and simply requires a properly configured Asterisk server and a modern browser for the agent station. Built-in reporting features in OpenQView, packaged with OpenAnswer, analyze call flow and allows for real-time call and queue monitoring. Highly customizable user interface allows for complex account setup with ease and minimal training time for agents. OpenAnswer integrates with Asterisk and FreePBX, code is well documented and there is a free support community.

“OpenAnswer software has exponentially increased operator efficiency, accuracy, and productivity more than we could have ever imagined,” said Eric Schurke, Director of Operations at VoiceNation.

“We evaluated every solution out there and couldn’t find one that met our needs, so we created it… and then decided to give it away to the world,” said Reeder.
