Falmouth resident Kerri Wilson wins Law Offices of John C. Manoog III “Legal Eagle” Award

October 1, 2012 //  by admin

Falmouth resident Kerri Wilson wins the Law Offices of John C. Manoog’s “Legal Eagle” award.

HYANNIS, MA…

As personal injury attorneys, the Law Offices of John C. Manoog III put in long hard hours to win cases for their personal injury and other clients. Many times, that involves late nights and weekends. To recognize the efforts of staff members going above and beyond, Attorney Manoog created the “Legal Eagle” award. The first month’s winner is Paralegal Kerri Wilson.

“It’s kind of a running joke that Kerri does the work of three people because she’s such a hard worker,” said Attorney John Manoog. “The funny part is that I’m not sure that’s as much of an exaggeration as people think. That’s why she’s a very deserving winner for our first “Legal Eagle” award.”

Wilson, a Falmouth resident, began with the Law Offices in 2003 after taking criminal justice courses at Cape Cod Community College. Over the course of her career, she’s seen her role expand from office support to her current job as a full-fledged paralegal.

“I find the type of law the Firm practices to be very interesting and the pace is very fast by its nature,” said Wilson. “That pace suits my personality because I like to keep busy.”

Married, Wilson and her husband Matthew live in Falmouth. She’s an active member of fundraising activities for the Alzheimer’s Association of Cape Cod and the MSPCA.

“The success of a law firm depends on everybody from attorneys on down pulling their way and doing what’s necessary to best serve our clients,” said Manoog. “When we achieve a favorable outcome for a client, it’s not just because the attorney represented them well but, in many cases, because people like Kerri supported their efforts and that’s how everybody wins.”

About The Law Offices of John C. Manoog III

The attorneys at The Law Offices of John C. Manoog III specialize in helping clients  recover their losses in all types of personal injury cases including automobile accidents, slip-and-fall accidents, dog bites, wrongful death, product liability, construction site accidents, as well as obtaining the benefits needed in workers compensation cases. The Firm also offers criminal defense services for clients. Initial consultation is free. The Law Offices of John C. Manoog III has two locations, 450 South Street in downtown Hyannis and 18 Main Street Extension in Plymouth center for added convenience.

Two tons of caring. Lapels Dry Cleaning stores contribute more than 4,000 pounds of clothing to Big Brother/Big Sister clothing drive

Lapels Dry Cleaning Clothing Drive

September 27, 2012 //  by admin

HANOVER, MA…

Lapels Dry Cleaning Clothing Drive
Some of the more than two tons of clothes Lapels Dry Cleaning stores in Mass. and RI collected and donated to the Big Brother/Big Sister Association of both RI and Mass.

Having a “ton” of laundry is an often-used figure of speech. This year’s Lapels Dry Cleaning Clothes Drive put a visual to this expression by collecting 4,073 pounds—more than TWO tons—for Big Brother and Big Sister of Massachusetts and Rhode Island.

The drive, held from May 5 through May 20, included significant contributions from 18 Lapels Dry Cleaning stores and plants in Massachusetts and one in Rhode Island.

“Our Massachusetts stores and our Lincoln, Rhode Island location really stepped it up for this clothing drive,” said Kevin Dubois, CEO of Lapels Dry Cleaning. “Lapels prides itself on being environmentally friendly. A part of that is giving back to the communities we serve. We’re grateful to have a customer base that shares that spirit of giving.”

Some of the larger contributors to the clothing drive included the following stores:

  • Lapels of Norton (575 pounds)
  • Lapels of Hanover/Assinippi Corner (437 pounds)
  • Lapels of Walpole (345 pounds)

“With 18 Lapels stores participating in this drive it helped make this a huge success,” said Ken Higgins, Big Brother Big Sister Dispatch supervisor.

As impressive as those numbers are, the biggest individual store contributing came from the smallest state. The Lapels of Lincoln, Rhode Island collected 600 pounds of clothing.

“We’re so grateful for the contribution by Lapels customers and Lapels for coordinating the effort,” said Laura LoBreglio, customer service manager, Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Ocean State. “Rhode Island may be the smallest state in the union, but this clothing drive shows how Lapels customers care about helping out fellow Ocean Staters.”

Lapels Dry Cleaning – Environmentally Friendly Cleaners
Each Lapels Dry Cleaning store offers a full slate of services, including: same-day dry cleaning; shirt service; tailoring; shoe repair; wedding gown preservation; suede and leather processing; box storage and fur storage. Lapels Dry Cleaning has stores in Arizona (Gilbert, Phoenix), California (Poway), Colorado (Littleton), Connecticut (Cromwell), Louisiana (Monroe, West Monroe), Massachusetts (Abington, Bedford, Boston, Brighton, Cambridge, Dedham, Easton, Framingham, Hanover, Marshfield, Newtonville, Norton, Walpole, Westford, Westwood and Wilmington), Missouri (Wildwood), New Jersey (Brick, Freehold and Verona), Ohio (Liberty Towns), Pennsylvania (Bloomsburg), Rhode Island (Lincoln); South Carolina (Myrtle Beach, Pawleys Forest); Texas (Arlington). Additional locations coming soon to Chandler, AZ, Boston, MA, Quincy, MA and Brownsville, TX.

Lapels Dry Cleaning has been ranked in Entrepreneur’s 26th Annual “Franchise 500” as well as Entrepreneur’s “Top 50 New Franchises,” identifying Lapels Dry Cleaning as one of today’s top franchise opportunities. Entrepreneur’s “Franchise 500” is the best and most comprehensive rating of franchises in the world and is based on objective, quantifiable measures of a franchise operation.

Looking to buy a lakefront property? Why fall is the time to buy.

September 27, 2012 //  by admin

Scott Freerksen
Scott Freerksen of Lakefront Living Realty, LLC

MANSFIELD, MA…

When it comes to buying a lakefront property, timing is everything. That refers not only to a specific property but time of year. For the majority of lakefront home purchases, right about now—October right up until the Christmas holidays—is the best time to buy.

“In our industry, the buying and selling of lakefront property, 39 percent of the sales take place between now and the end of the year,” said Scott Freerksen, owner of Lakefront Living Realty, LLC, a realtor that specializes in properties that are directly on lakes. “What’s really ironic is, historically, the response to our listings and ads decrease dramatically during this time period and we typically receive fewer referrals during that time as well.”

While many realtors can anecdotally share a drop in the number of calls during the fall, Google can back up a general decline in interest. According to Google Trends, the number of people conducting searches using the phrase “real estate” over the past half a dozen years peaks in the spring and drops significantly after October through the end of the year.

So, with the declining interest, why are there more sales?

Freerksen suggests the reason as simple as less competition motivating sellers.

“With fewer people out there buying, there’s a tendency for sellers to be a bit more flexible in accepting offers rather than sitting on a property through the winter and into the next year,” said Freerksen. “That’s another reason why it’s a great time of year to buy.”

As a lake enthusiast who has lived on a lakefront property for almost all of his life, Freerksen offers one more thought on why lakefront properties sell more during the mid to late fall. Said Freerksen, “You can’t blame somebody who owns a lake house and is planning to sell to hold onto it for one more summer and put it on the market after Labor Day.”

About Lakefront Living Realty, LLC

Based in Mansfield, Massachusetts, Lakefront Living Realty, LLC is a full service real estate brokerage specializing solely on the purchase and sale of pond and lakefront property in Massachusetts, New Hampshire and Rhode Island. Owner Scott “The Lake Guy” Freerksen, a Real Estate Broker and Realtor, founded Lakefrontliving.com in 2003 as way to support his real estate practice and to bring to potential buyers and sellers a website that features direct lakefront homes. All the “riverfront”, “oceanfront”, “across the street”, “within walking distance” homes are taken out of the site.

Lakefront Living Realty has one mission: To passionately unite Buyers and Sellers of lakefront property. For complete information, please visit www.lakefrontliving.com or call Scott at 508-377-7167.
