Marston Mills resident Rachel Pumphery wins Law Offices of John C. Manoog III “Legal Eagle” Award

Rachel Pumphery fills two roles at the Law Offices of John C. Manoog III, working both as a staff paralegal and assistant to Attorney Michael O’Malley.  As a staff paralegal, one of Rachel Pumphery’s many duties is the drafting of case settlement demand packages on behalf of their clients.   In addition, Rachel serves as a full time assistant to Attorney O’Malley.  While it may seem a thankless task, it did recently earn her the Law Offices of John C. Manoog III’s “Legal Eagle” award for January.

“We created the Legal Eagle award as a way to recognize the hard work and time our staff puts into helping the firm get favorable results for our clients,” said Manoog. “Rachel may work primarily as an assistant to Attorney O’Malley, but she is a team player who has performed at a high level as long as she’s been here. She’s a very deserving winner for the “Legal Eagle” award.”

Pumphery began with the Law Offices of John C. Manoog III in 2005. Prior to that, she had worked in the banking industry.

“There’s always so much to do at the firm and we are often under serious time constraints. It’s nice to know that your efforts are recognized and appreciated,” said Pumphery.

Recently engaged, Pumphery currently resides in Marston Mills.

The holidays are a time for giving. For many business owners that means more than buying gifts for family and friends but giving back to the communities in which they do business. In that spirit, The Law Offices of John C. Manoog III recently made a $500 donation to the Children’s Cove Center, The Cape and Islands Advocacy Center.

Children’s Cove is a Barnstable County agency dedicated to helping the Cape & Islands communities respond to allegations of child abuse in ways that are effective and efficient and put the needs of child victims of abuse first. Children’s Cove is a freestanding, child-friendly facility designed to ensure that victims of child sexual abuse and their non-offending family members have access to support and services in a safe, respectful, and compassionate environment.

“For families torn apart by instances of child sexual abuse, the holidays can be an extremely difficult time of year,” said John C. Manoog III, a personal injury attorney and principal of the Law Offices of John C. Manoog III. “We wanted to donate to the Children’s Cove to help make the holidays a little brighter for residents of the center and to let people at the agency know their work is appreciated by the community.”

As one of 11 Child Advocacy Centers in Massachusetts, Children’s Cove is an accredited agency through the National Children’s Alliance that provides coordinated and comprehensive services to child victims and their family members. In 2009, Children’s Advocacy Centers around the country served over 254,000 child victims of abuse, providing victim advocacy and support to these children and their families.

“You can’t undervalue the services Children Cove provides,” said Manoog. “I encourage all Cape business owners to reach into their pockets this holiday season and donate to this very worthy cause.

Law Offices of John C. Manoog III teams up with Friendly’s and Barnstable PD to give children the scoop on Halloween safety

HYANNIS, MA…

As a teenager working at Friendly’s, John Manoog saw firsthand the power an ice cream had in influencing children’s behavior—transforming sad, cranky or glum faces to smiles. Now a personal injury attorney, Manoog is hoping a free ice cream cone can be just as effective in getting across the safety message this Halloween season. To that end, the Law Offices of John C. Manoog III have joined forces with Friendly’s and the Barnstable Police Department on a Safety First campaign targeting Halloween season.

Starting October 29, the first 250 children to visit Friendly’s on Route 132 in Barnstable will receive a round soft touch LED key ring and a coupon for a free ice cream cone. The LED lights feature a “Safety First” message and offer two settings—blinking and continuous light—for improved visibility.

“With it getting darker earlier, it can be difficult to see pedestrians and bikers of any age,” said Manoog, whose firm has offices at 450 Sea Street in Hyannis and 18 Main Street in Plymouth. “These lights, coupled with a free ice cream cone, are kind of a fun way to get the safety message across to kids during Halloween and the rest of the year.”

Falmouth resident Kerri Wilson wins Law Offices of John C. Manoog III “Legal Eagle” Award

Falmouth resident Kerri Wilson wins the Law Offices of John C. Manoog’s “Legal Eagle” award.

HYANNIS, MA…

As personal injury attorneys, the Law Offices of John C. Manoog III put in long hard hours to win cases for their personal injury and other clients. Many times, that involves late nights and weekends. To recognize the efforts of staff members going above and beyond, Attorney Manoog created the “Legal Eagle” award. The first month’s winner is Paralegal Kerri Wilson.

“It’s kind of a running joke that Kerri does the work of three people because she’s such a hard worker,” said Attorney John Manoog. “The funny part is that I’m not sure that’s as much of an exaggeration as people think. That’s why she’s a very deserving winner for our first “Legal Eagle” award.”

Wilson, a Falmouth resident, began with the Law Offices in 2003 after taking criminal justice courses at Cape Cod Community College. Over the course of her career, she’s seen her role expand from office support to her current job as a full-fledged paralegal.

“I find the type of law the Firm practices to be very interesting and the pace is very fast by its nature,” said Wilson. “That pace suits my personality because I like to keep busy.”

Married, Wilson and her husband Matthew live in Falmouth. She’s an active member of fundraising activities for the Alzheimer’s Association of Cape Cod and the MSPCA.
