‘A natural selection’ – G-Force Shipping announces natural products division.

March 7, 2011 //  by admin

HANOVER, MASSACHUSETTS…

Nowadays, people are trying to live a greener, healthier lifestyle. While a smaller carbon footprint and longer life might be two long-term goals for individuals, successful companies in this industry strive for safe and affordable shipping. With manufacturers and distributors challenged by the growing demand of the natural products industry, G-Force Shipping, a third-party logistics provider, has responded in turn by creating a natural products division.

“Natural products can cover a broad range of items, anything from natural whole foods to raw materials like spices, herbs, oils and botanicals,” said Gordie Macfarlane, president of G-Force Shipping. “LTL shippers have to not only be cognizant of how these items are shipped, but what they are shipped with and that all their products are classified appropriately”

G-Force’s Eddie White will lead the Natural Products Division. The benefits that new division provides natural products companies include:

  • Consultation on National Motor Freight Classification– G-Force Shipping offers customer service assistance and resources to properly classify natural products shipments, ranging from Class 50 items to Class 500. G-Force will also dispute any charges on customers’ behalf if the shipment is re-classified.
  • Screening carrier cargo for toxic items – Via Web site or customer service rep, G-Force can verify that any natural product shipments are kept separate from any toxic products that could potentially contaminate your goods while in transit.
  • Direct Point A to Point B shipping – Many smaller companies will deal with a single or a few select shipping companies, and in some cases are unaware that said shipping company interlines the shipment. This can create delays and possibly compromise the well-being of a natural products shipment. With more than 80 carrier partners, customers can select the best shipping service available for that specific lane along with the confidence that they know who is handling their shipment.
  • Coordinating warehousing – G-Force can arrange warehouse accommodations as a means for companies to reduce costly cross-country deliveries and longer delivery times (e.g. arranging warehousing for a Florida-based company in the Midwest for west coast deliveries).
  • Direct consultation services – G-Force’s knowledge of the pricing and capabilities of more than 80 carriers is a resource that is available to natural products customers.
  • Cost savings – G-Force customers spend more than $100 million with its carrier partners. G-Force can often leverage that buying power to provide optimal savings. Typically, G-Force can save its natural products customers in the 15 percent range.

“Natural products manufacturers face a great number of challenges. Many are based in rural parts of the U.S.  where getting from Point A to Point B is not always a straight line,” said Macfarlane. “With this new division, natural products manufacturers have a 24/7 resource to ensure the safe, timely and cost-effective shipment of their goods.”

In addition to its services tailored toward natural products companies, G-Force Shipping provides all its customers an easy-to-use, Web-based shipping utility, www.GForceship.com, which delivers instant quotes and multiple carrier choices in seconds. There’s no long-term commitment. Access to a free on-line account or a toll free number is all G-Force customers need. The only fees associated with an account are those directly connected to the shipping costs.

For more information, please call 877-7-GFORCE or visit www.gforceship.com.

More carriers, more choices, more savings.

G Force Shipping and Consulting, Inc. is a non asset based third-party logistics provider based in Hanover, Massachusetts. Through its Web site, www.gforceship.com, G-Force provides its customers with direct access to quotes from more than 80 carriers on LTL, FTL and small parcel shipments. In addition to helping customers find the right shipping company at the right price, G-Force offers white glove service that includes 24/7 customer service, freight consulting services, online warehouse management capabilities and much, much more.

Old Colony Elder Services Staff & Caregivers Attend Public Hearing on MassHealth Cuts

March 1, 2011 //  by admin

More than 162 elderly and disabled individuals in the Adult Foster Care (AFC) Program of Old Colony Elder Services will be affected by the Patrick Administration’s proposed cuts to MassHealth.

In January, the Patrick Administration released news of MassHealth budget cuts to the Adult Foster Care Program which provides daily assistance with personal care and care management oversight in a caregiver’s home on a 24/7 basis. The proposal would decrease the payment rates for all AFC services by 6.2% effective March 15, 2011.

In light of this, 29 individuals, including Old Colony Elder Services AFC staff, AFC caregivers and clients recently attended a public hearing held at the Division of Health Care Finance and Policy in Boston. Caregivers had an opportunity to voice their concerns and spoke about the level of work and commitment involved in their 24/7 role as caregivers. Many testified that they would receive better pay and benefits working outside the home. AFC Level I caregivers receive approximately $25 per day and AFC Level II caregivers receive approximately $50 per day.

AFC staff and other professionals in attendance, including Al Norman, Mass Home Care Executive Director, explained to the audience that AFC actually keeps frail and vulnerable citizens living at home and out of more expensive institutional settings.

AFC Level II enrollees, often requiring care similar to those in nursing homes, have an annual cost of $30,327.00. In comparison, the annual cost of a skilled nursing facility is at least $58,765.00.

“It just doesn’t make fiscal sense. Cutting the AFC rates will ultimately result in fewer caregivers and an increased number of elders entering skilled nursing facilities. It will cost the state almost twice as much as it would if the program remained intact,” said Diana DiGiorgi, Executive Director of Old Colony Elder Services. She continued, “The decrease in AFC rates will make it difficult to attract caregivers. This would be unfortunate in light of the fact that AFC is a growing and thriving housing and care alternative that enables seniors to remain at home while providing tremendous savings to the commonwealth.”

Old Colony Elder Services Announces the “Dancing With the Angels” Event will be held April 2nd

February 25, 2011 //  by admin

Old Colony Elder Services, a non-profit elder services agency serving elders and their families in 23 communities throughout the greater Plymouth county area, recently announced that the second annual “Dancing with the Angels” benefit event will be held on Saturday, April 2, 2011 from 6:30 to 11 p.m., at the Tirrell Room, 254 Quarry Street in Quincy.

The “Dancing with the Angels” event is generously hosted by Visiting Angels of the South Shore located in Marshfield. Attendees will enjoy hors d’oeuvres, lively dancing and the music of the 14 piece White Heat Swing Orchestra. There will also be a dancing competition featuring the Visiting Angels staff doing Latin dancing.

This fundraising event supports the Special Needs Funds of Old Colony Elder Services and South Shore Elder Services (based in Braintree). The Special Needs Fund helps frail elders throughout the area who cannot afford the basic necessities of life such as food, shelter, medicine and heat. Elders who have health issues may be unable to prepare meals, shop for food, or complete simple tasks such as washing clothes.

Last year’s “Dancing with the Angels” event raised more than $15,000 for seniors in need.

According to Diana DiGiorgi, Executive Director at Old Colony Elder Services, “Although government funding covers a substantial portion of our services, there are still many elders who are not eligible for services yet have critical needs. It is only through the generous support of individuals and businesses in the community that we are able to fulfill our mission of helping older adults live independently in their own homes for as long as possible.”

“Last year we were able to raise $15,000 with the help of our sponsors and colleagues who serve elders in the South Shore, Plymouth and Brockton areas. Based on our success, and encouragement from the community, we decided to make Dancing with the Angels an annual event,” explained Nate Murray, LICSW, President and Managing Partner of Visiting Angels of the South Shore. “We are hoping this event will continue to grow and build awareness of the Special Needs fund and how it helps our elderly loved ones, friends and neighbors. The elder service organizations who serve the elder community need our help to continue the critical work they do.”

Tickets for this swinging event are $50 each and may be purchased at Old Colony Elder Services. For more information about this event, contact Lucille Dallaire at OCES (508) 584-1561.

The major sponsors for this event are Weymouth Health Care Center, Rockland Trust, Entergy Pilgrim Station and Center Stage Dance Academy. Event sponsors include: Bond Printing, Celtic Angels, Casper Cremation, Evercare, High Street Equity Advisors, Plimoth Investment Advisors, Queen Anne Nursing Home, Southwood Nursing Center, Radius Healthcare and Pediatric Center, River Bay Club, Visiting Rehab Services, and Welch Healthcare and Retirement Group. North students mean business…Tracy Chevrolet Cadillac recognizes Plymouth North marketing students.

February 21, 2011 //  by admin

PLYMOUTH, MA…

In business, success or failure is marked by the bottom line. For Plymouth North students involved in the Technical Studies marketing program, that bottom line is the DECA competition. Judging by the six marketing students earning gold medals at the regional DECA competition held earlier this year, the Plymouth North Marketing is a smashing success and worthy recipient of this month’s Tracy Chevrolet Cadillac Driven Student of the Month award for December.

“DECA is an international organization that prepares emerging leaders and entrepreneurs in marketing, finance, hospitality and management in high schools and colleges around the globe,” said Kathy Schram, advisor to the Plymouth North marketing students. “While it’s impressive enough that we had six first-place winners, what’s even more impressive is that we’ll have 45 members of the marketing class competing in the statewide DECA competition next month.”

For being selected Driven Students of the Month, upper classmen in the marketing class were treated to a pizza party, courtesy of Tracy Chevrolet Cadillac. In addition, each participating student received a Tracy Chevrolet Cadillac drink koozie. Students recognized included: Michael Ahlstedt, Jared Bramhall, Nick Boutin, Emily Cleland, Hannah Conley, Jared Cullivan, Calvin Ellis, Brian Fasanello, Sean Folan, Andrew Gallant, Vicky Gilmore, Cam Groezinger, Gemma Henderson, Pat Horgan, Dan Leary, Madison McCormack, Jay McStowe, Trevor Metcalfe, James Mitchell, Jessica Morgan, John Myette, Tony Perry, Emily Pickett, Shannon Raeke, Casey Reilly, Nick Santos, Ashley Saunders,  and Robert Wallace.

“With the Driven Student program, we try to recognize students whose outstanding work has flown under the radar and the marketing group definitely falls under that category,” said Jeff Tracy, president of Tracy Chevrolet Cadillac. “By honoring the marketing students as our Driven Students of the month, we’re remedying that a little, plus giving them a proper send off for the statewide competition next month.”

Tracy Chevrolet Cadillac’s Driven Student program recognizes Plymouth high school students for their performance and achievements in and out of the classroom. Awarded on a monthly basis, recipients are selected by faculty and advisors at the student’s given school.

So easy at Tracy Chevrolet Cadillac

For more than 80 years and three generations of dealers, the Tracy family has made it so easy for customers on the South Shore and greater Plymouth area to purchase new and used automobiles. Since its beginnings in 1992, Tracy Chevrolet Cadillac has emphasized first-rate customer service and straightforward, bottom-line pricing with fair trade-ins every time–without the games or gimmicks you find at other dealerships. For more information on new and used trucks and automobiles, you can go to www.tracymotors.com or stop by the dealership, conveniently located at 137 Samoset Street, just off exit 6 on Route 3. For more information, or to make a service appointment, you can also call (800) 640-2884.
