International Computerware, Inc. secures position on the 2012 Inc. 500|5000 with Three-Year Sales Growth of 60%

Jamie Shepard
Jamie Shepard of ICI

MARLBORO, MA and NEW YORK

Inc. magazine included International Computerware, Inc. (ICI) on its sixth annual Inc. 500|5000, an exclusive ranking of the nation’s fastest-growing private companies. The list represents the most comprehensive look at the most important segment of the economy—America’s independent entrepreneurs. ICI joins Yelp, yogurt maker Chobani, Giftcards.com, KIND and famed hatmaker Tilly’s, among other prominent brands featured on this year’s list.

“It’s a tribute to all at ICI to have been named to this very prestigious list of entrepreneurial companies,” said ICI EVP and Partner, Jamie Shepard. “I’m proud to have been such a strong part of ICI’s evolution over the past 18 years, leading the transformation of ICI into one of the nation’s strongest and most recognized leaders for technical innovation and excellence. Our business model and history of infrastructure consulting and services, as well as our award winning nCubed methodology, has been at the forefront of our growth and success. Our alignment with our strategic technology partners has provided ICI with a go-to-market strategy that is properly aligned with the objectives and requirements of the global clientele that we service.”

International Computerware, Inc.’s placement on the Inc.500|5000 list is the only latest accolade the Marlborough, MA based infrastructure consulting firm has earned this year, having earlier been named both EMC’s Services Partner of the Year for the Americas and VMware’s Business Continuity Partner of the Year for the Americas. ICI has also earned the EMC’s Quality Services award for the 5th consecutive year.

In a stagnant economic environment, ICI’s year-over-year growth remains an impressive 60% percent. Leveraging their foundation as an infrastructure consulting firm, their robust experience in helping customers adopt new ways of providing compute and data to end users, and their nCubed methodology has enabled ICI to properly address customers’ goals and aspirations. This model positions ICI for insulated growth during all economic times. Coupling this consistent model with innovative leaders such as ICI’s CTO Brad Maltz – who, along with EVP Jamie Shepard, is a well-known pioneer in this industry — provides ICI and its customers with unseen stabilization and growth in infrastructure consumption and cloud computing.

“Now, more than ever, we depend on Inc. 500/5000 companies to spur innovation, provide jobs, and drive the economy forward. Growth companies, not large corporations, are where the action is,” says Inc. Editor Eric Schurenberg. Complete results of the Inc. 5000, including company profiles and an interactive database that can be sorted by industry, region, and other criteria, can be found at http://www.inc.com/inc5000/list/2012.

Methodology

The 2012 Inc. 500|5000 is ranked according to percentage revenue growth when comparing 2008 to 2011. To qualify, companies must have been founded and generating revenue by March 31, 2008. They had to be U.S.-based, privately held, for profit, and independent—not subsidiaries or divisions of other companies—as of December 31, 2011. (Since then, a number of companies on the list have gone public or been acquired.) The minimum revenue required for 2008 is $100,000; the minimum for 2011 is $2 million. As always, Inc. reserves the right to decline applicants for subjective reasons. Companies on the Inc. 500 are featured in Inc.’s September issue. They represent the top tier of the Inc. 5000, which can be found at www.inc.com/500.

Patrick Administration Proposes $2.1 Million Cut In Elderly Home Care Rates

September 6, 2012 //  by admin

A statewide elder advocacy group will testify this Friday that the Patrick Administration has proposed “unreasonable” rate cuts that will cut $2.1 million in support for home care for low-income seniors—at a time when more than 2,200 elders are on a wait list for care.

Al Norman, the Executive Director of Mass Home Care, will testify on Friday, September 7th before the Division of Health Care Finance and Policy in Boston, that its proposed rates are “unreasonable and inadequate.”

“We should be investing more money to keep elders at home,” Norman said, “not less.”

According to Mass Home Care, there are currently roughly 2,200 elders on home care waiting lists due to insufficient funding. This year, home care accounts are $15 million lower than in FY 2009. Old Colony Elder Services, the regional Aging Services Access Point covering Brockton and 22 surrounding communities, currently has 173 people on wait lists who cannot access needed services per Diana DiGiorgi, Executive Director.

The rate hearing Friday is part of the implementation of Chapter 257 of the Acts of 2008, which requires the Administration to pay human services agencies rates which are “reasonable and adequate to meet the costs which are incurred by efficiently and economically operated social service program providers.” Mass Home Care says the Administration’s proposal “undermines the purpose of upgrading rates for human services programs.”

“Chapter 257 was written by human services advocates,” Norman said. “The whole point of the law was to give programs the money needed to run an efficient program. These proposed rates are not based on any analysis of the true cost of providing care to the elderly.”

The cuts to home care are based on a DHCFP methodology that uses expenses from fiscal year 2010. But such expenditures are backed into based on an annual appropriation level—not on an actual build-up of what it costs to run a program.

According to Mass Home Care’s own calculations, the home care Case Management rates should be increased by 8.6 percent over current levels—not cut by 4.5 percent.

Norman said the Patrick Administration has presided over one of the largest cuts in home care appropriations in the history of the program.

“For a state that touts its ‘community first’ approach to senior care,” Norman concluded, “seniors have lost millions of dollars in state support—at a time the population in need is growing faster than the rest of the population. The Governor should commit to growing these community programs—not shrinking them.”

Plymouth Turkey Trot turns up the heat on battle for best Thanksgiving Day road race in America’s hometown

September 4, 2012 //  by admin

Plymouth Turkey Trot logoPLYMOUTH, MA…

When you think of Thanksgiving Day rivalries, it’s usually a discussion about high school football. In Plymouth, Mass, the birthplace of Thanksgiving Day tradition, a new rivalry has begun with the announcement of the Plymouth Turkey Trot, a 4.77 mile run on Thanksgiving morning. The new race represents the fourth road race that takes within Thanksgiving week in the town where the Thanksgiving holiday began.

In addition to the new Plymouth Turkey Trot, three other road races will take place in Plymouth. Those include the Plymouth Turkey Trot’s sister race, the third annual Thanksgiving Day Pilgrim 5k on Thanksgiving morning, the Turkey Chase for Charity and America’s Hometown’s Thanksgiving Race the latter two taking place during the weekend prior to Thanksgiving.

“I don’t know of any city or town in the country that has more Thanksgiving road races than the town of Plymouth, which is probably fitting considering the origins of the holiday,” said Steve Dubin, spokesperson for the Plymouth Turkey Trot and Thanksgiving Day 5k, as well as the Old Sandwich Road Race, which is held in June. “While you certainly don’t wish ill will towards fellow local road races, there is a competition to put on the race that’s going to attract the most local runners as well as folks looking for a getaway over the holidays.”

The Plymouth Turkey Trot starts at Memorial Park on the Waterfront at Plymouth Rock at 7:30am. The 4.77 mile course offers scenic views of the Plymouth’s picturesque oceanfront, and passes several historical sites including Plymouth Rock, Burial Hill and The Mayflower. The cost to register is $20 before November 1. Prizes will be awarded to men’s and women’s winners in several age groups.

“The Turkey Trot gives runners who might have some traveling to do for Thanksgiving an early start so they can get their run in and then head on  over to Grandma’s house or wherever they’re going for a guilt-free Thanksgiving-Day dinner,” said Dubin.

For complete information, on the Plymouth Turkey Trot, visit www.plymouthturkeytrot.com.

The third annual Thanksgiving Day Pilgrim 5k kicks off from the Village Racquet and Fitness Center, at Pine Hills, 30 Gold Drive, Plymouth at 9:30 a.m. rain or shine on Thanksgiving morning. The course includes the oldest road in America, Old Sandwich Road. This race site was the original trail used by Pilgrims and Native Americans in the 1600’s as they traveled from Plymouth to Sandwich, Mass. Cost is $20 online until November 1.

All participants will receive a custom finishers’ medal.  T-Shirts, designed by professional graphic artists, will be given to all 1,000 runners.

For complete information visit http://thanksgivingdaypilgrim5k.yolasite.com.

If you or your company is interested in sponsoring either the Plymouth Turkey Trot or the Thanksgiving Day Turkey 5k, please contact Steve Dubin at 781-582-1061 or sdubin@prworkzone.com.

Run for Faith makes a “splash” in Year Two—without the hurricane

August 21, 2012 //  by admin

Nearly 300 people participated in the second annual Run for Faith 4-Miler on August 19. The race, which is run to help raise funds for local charities and ovarian cancer research, is run in the memory of Faith “Marcy” Romboldi. Mrs. Romboldi lost her battle with ovarian cancer in 2010. Many of the runners, volunteers and members of Faith Romboldi’s family are picture here. (Photo by Lori Solomon)

PLYMOUTH, MA…

When your first effort at a road race coincides with the beginning of a hurricane as it did last year for the first Run for Faith, you say more than a few prayers for good weather for year two. For the organizers and participants, those prayers were answered and then some with a sunny day and comfortable running temperatures, as nearly 300 participated in the second annual Run for Faith 4-miler.

“Mom was certainly looking down on us this year, as we could not have asked for a better day,” said Matthew Romboldi, Run for Faith race director and son of Faith “Marcy” Romboldi. Mrs. Romboldi, in whose memory the race is held, died from ovarian cancer in 2010. “We are delighted by the turnout and, of course, the weather and we saw some pretty good times by our winners.”

Brian McCarthy of Plymouth won the Men’s’ Division with a time of 25:10. Christina Hall, also of Plymouth, was the top female runner with a time of 27:30. Melissa Mearer of Pocasset won the first-ever Stroller Division with a time of 42:40.

“We have tried to make the Run for Faith very family-oriented because that’s what Marcy was all about—family,” said Nicole Romboldi, the wife of Matthew Romboldi. “Having the Stroller Division made this an extra special event and we hope to grow the Stroller Division even more for next year.”

Those who took part in the first-ever Stroller Division include:

  • Daniel Shea, Scituate, MA
  • Anna Shea, Scituate, MA
  • Litza Romboldi, Plymouth, MA
  • Nanci Dewey, Plymouth, MA
  • Katy Valentine, Plymouth, MA
  • Rusty Romboldi, Plymouth, MA
  • Vincenza Amara, Plymouth, MA
  • Priscilla Pinto, Plymouth, MA
  • Sara Denocourt, Plymouth, MA
  • Kim Carreira, Plymouth, MA
  • Tracey Murphy, Plymouth, MA

The Run for Faith is organized by Run for Faith, Inc., a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization and the proceeds from the race help raise money for several Plymouth non-profits and charitable organizations. The first Run for Faith raised enough for a $5,000 donation to Dana Farber’s  Yaw key Center for Cancer Care and ovarian cancer research. The Run for Faith also contributed two $2500 scholarships for two Plymouth high school students: Graham Allen from Plymouth South High School and Nathan Fuller from Plymouth North High School.

“The excellent turnout means we can make even more of an impact with our donations, both in scholarships and donations to local charities and ovarian cancer research,” said Romboldi. “We’d like to thank all those who ran and our sponsors for making this a successful event.”

The 2012 Run for Faith was sponsored by a number of local businesses, including Nolan Schelle Insurance, Marty’s GMC, Liddell Brothers Traffic Safety Systems, Cape Auto, 99.1 WPLM, Mayflower Food & Spirits, Powderhorn Press, Pilgrim Belle Harbor Cruises, Plimouth Plantation, Girls on the Go, Newfield House, Stevens the Florist, Lee Sirricco Landscaping, Cold Spring Club, Unity Club, and Mama Mia’s, and Ziggy’s Ice Cream.

Individuals or businesses looking to make a donation to this year’s Run for Faith, or sponsor next year’s Run for Faith, can e-mail info@runforfaithplymouth.org or call 508-400-0751. For complete information on the Run for Faith, visit www.runforfaithplymouth.org.

free lake house in Winchendon, MA
What does a free lake house look like? This Winchendon, MA home on Monomonac essentially sells for free if you purchase the land at 156 Monomonac Road West (which is currently listed at $199,900).

MANSFIELD, MA…

The appeal of owning a lakefront property is location, location, location. Yet, in the case of a lakefront home in Winchendon, MA,  on Lake Monomonac, it’s all about situation, situation, situation. For this particularly property, their situation has necessitated a once in a lifetime opportunity for a prospective buyer of owning a free lake house.

“What you have are the adult children of the property owner who live outside the area and are looking to settle their parents’ estate as quickly as possible. They realize the house needs a lot of work so by selling the land, including its contents, and adjusting the price accordingly, they make the property that much more desirable. The end result is, essentially, a free lake house,” said Scott Freerksen, owner of Lakefront Living Realty, LLC, a Mansfield, MA-based Real Estate Brokerage specializing solely on the purchase and sale of lakefront property.

Located at 156 Monomonac Road West, Winchendon, MA, the property lists for $199,900 and includes three acres of lakefront land (746 feet of shore line).  The interior consists of wide-plank pine boards providing a great cabin feel, indoor pool with hot tub and balcony, nine rooms, three to four bedrooms, three full baths, two kitchens and 2300 square feet of living space. The seller is completing new septic engineering only.

“The house is a real fixer upper, no question, especially since it will need a new septic system. That’s part of why the price is what it is,” said Freerksen. “Yet if you want to own lakefront property and are not afraid of renovation projects, opportunities like this are a way to make it happen. And at the end of all the renovating, you’ll have a lakefront home you will enjoy for generations to come. ”
