Gratitude behind Tracy Chevrolet Cadillac food drive. Plymouth automobile dealership to hold canned good drive for month of November to support local food pantries

October 28, 2013 //  by admin

Jeff Tracy, president of Tracy Chevrolet Cadillac

PLYMOUTH, MA…

For the second year in a row, Tracy Chevrolet Cadillac has teamed up to fight hunger with the South Shore Community Action Council’s Greater Plymouth Food Warehouse to host a canned food drive at the dealership’s 137 Samoset Street (Route 44) location. The drive will take place during the month of November and all donated goods will go to the Greater Plymouth Food Warehouse, which provides food to more than 30 emergency food pantries and soup kitchens in the greater Plymouth area.

“We’ve always believed that being in business was about being part of the community. As part of the community, we feel it’s important to help out those who might be going through a bit of a tough time,” said Jeff Tracy, president of Tracy Chevrolet Cadillac. “We encourage everybody to stop by the dealership and make a contribution to the drive.”

As an added incentive, Tracy Chevrolet Cadillac is taking $10 off an oil change for customers who come in with canned goods to donate. Customers simply need to present their canned goods when they check in for an oil change and the $10 will be deducted. Depending on the type of vehicle you drive, that can be a savings between 15 and 30 percent.

Containers for the food drive will be located throughout the Tracy Chevrolet Cadillac showroom. All canned goods and other non-perishables are welcomed and accepted.

“Last year’s drive generated 385 pounds of food, which equates to 296 meals. We can’t thank Tracy Chevrolet Cadillac enough for stepping up once again to host a food drive during this critical time of year,” said Steve Bailey, of South Shore Community Action Council. “The winter months and the holidays always present challenges in getting food to the people who need it. We’re hopeful that Tracy’s customers and people in the area will get in the spirit of the Thanksgiving season and give generously to this drive.”

That kind of generosity is nothing new for Tracy Chevrolet Cadillac. Since its founding in 1992, the dealership has been involved in a number of charitable endeavors. That includes supporting The Driven Student Recognition for students at Plymouth North and South High Schools, the Boys & Girls Clubs, and many more.

Tracy Chevrolet Cadillac launches Toys for Tots Drive.

December 11, 2012 //  by admin

PLYMOUTH, MA…

Tracy Chevrolet Cadillac recently announced it will hold a Toys for Tots drive at the dealership located at 137 Samoset Street in Plymouth. Tracy Chevrolet will be accepting donations up until December 19 for the drive on behalf of Cape Cod and the Islands Toys for Tots chapter.

“Many of us got into this business because we had an interest in cars as little kids, probably from receiving a toy car or truck for Christmas,” said Jeff Tracy, president of Tracy Chevrolet Cadillac. “Every kid should have that special gift at Christmas. With this drive, we’re hoping to make that happen for a child whose family may not be able to afford a gift.”

Donations to Toys for Tots must be new, unopened items. Toys donated must not be gift-wrapped. Wrapped items will have to be opened prior to being accepted as a donation. Toys collected for this drive will be distributed to families in need in the greater Plymouth area.

Interested parties can drop off gifts at the dealership during normal business hours: Sunday, 11am to 4pm; Monday through Thursday, 8:30am to 8pm; Friday, 8:30am to 6pm; and Saturday, 8am to 5pm.

“There’s no better way to express gratitude for what you have by helping out those who have not been as fortunate,” said Jeff Tracy, president of Tracy Chevrolet Cadillac. “We encourage everybody to stop by the dealership and make a contribution to the drive.”

Tracy Chevrolet Cadillac puts it in drive. Plymouth automobile dealership teams up against hunger to support local food pantries

Tracy Chevrolet Cadillac teams up with the South Shore Community Action Council for a food drive to help supply local food pantries with much needed inventory for the holidays.

PLYMOUTH, MA…

Tracy Chevrolet Cadillac has partnered with the South Shore Community Action Council (SSCAC) on a canned food drive at the dealership’s 137 Samoset Street (Route 44) in Plymouth. The drive will take place during the month of November and all donated goods will go to SSCAC’s Greater Plymouth Food Warehouse, which provides food free of charge to more than 30 emergency food pantries and soup kitchens in the greater Plymouth area

“There’s no better way to express gratitude for what you have by helping out those who have not been as fortunate,” said Jeff Tracy, president of Tracy Chevrolet Cadillac. “With Thanksgiving just around the corner, we wanted to do something for families in the area who are having a tough time. We encourage everybody to stop by the dealership and make a contribution to the drive.”

The food drive tubs are located in the Tracy Chevrolet Cadillac showroom at 137 Samoset Street. Canned goods and other non-perishables are welcomed and accepted.

“We can’t thank Tracy Chevrolet Cadillac enough for hosting this food drive as our shelves are almost empty,” said Beth Thompson, Food Resources Manager at South Shore Community Action Council. “The greater Plymouth area has grown quite a bit in recent years. While that’s good on one hand, it also has meant that more people are in need of our services. That’s why we truly appreciate when a business like Tracy Chevrolet Cadillac teams up to help out.”

A service call for Plymouth South automotive students…Tracy Chevrolet Cadillac hosts hybrid training for vocational school students.

Tracy Chevrolet Cadillac Technician

PLYMOUTH, MA…

For three years running, Tracy Chevrolet Cadillac has honored local students through its Driven Student program. This program recognizes students going above and beyond,  inside and outside the classroom. For the month of April, Tracy Chevrolet Cadillac chose to honor automotive students in Plymouth South High School’s Technical Studies program.

While the typical Driven Student celebration involves a pizza party at the school, Tracy Chevrolet Cadillac provided these budding mechanics with something a bit more valuable: a training session on hybrid technology at the dealership.

“Even though hybrid cars have been around a while, our students really haven’t exposure to them through our programs because the vehicles typically have five-year warranties and the owners bring them into the dealership for service instead of our shop at the school,” said Randy Cabral, automotive instructor at Plymouth South. “Being invited down here to see that technology up close is a phenomenal experience for our students.”

Rick McGue, Tracy Chevrolet Cadillac service manager, led the training session. That included looking under the hood of two hybrids, one of those vehicles belonging to Bruins legend Bobby Orr. Tracy Service Technician Steve Rasch also provided instruction on the hybrid technology and answered questions in between servicing the vehicles.

“The service component of our business is critical to the success or failure of a dealership,” said Jeff Tracy, president of Tracy Chevrolet Cadillac. “By having the kids visit the dealership, we’re hopefully doing more than showing them a new technology but demonstrating the critical role they can play in our industry.”

Taking part in the training were: Michel Jacobson, Jake Waters, Cam Nwell, Billy Stevenson, Doug Duyette, Devin Ford, Jon Flaherty and Nick Luke, Tracy Chevrolet Cadillac’s Driven Student program recognizes Plymouth high school students for their performance and achievements in and out of the classroom. Awarded on a monthly basis, recipients are selected by faculty and advisors at the student’s given school.

North students mean business…Tracy Chevrolet Cadillac recognizes Plymouth North marketing students.

February 21, 2011 //  by admin

PLYMOUTH, MA…

In business, success or failure is marked by the bottom line. For Plymouth North students involved in the Technical Studies marketing program, that bottom line is the DECA competition. Judging by the six marketing students earning gold medals at the regional DECA competition held earlier this year, the Plymouth North Marketing is a smashing success and worthy recipient of this month’s Tracy Chevrolet Cadillac Driven Student of the Month award for December.

“DECA is an international organization that prepares emerging leaders and entrepreneurs in marketing, finance, hospitality and management in high schools and colleges around the globe,” said Kathy Schram, advisor to the Plymouth North marketing students. “While it’s impressive enough that we had six first-place winners, what’s even more impressive is that we’ll have 45 members of the marketing class competing in the statewide DECA competition next month.”

For being selected Driven Students of the Month, upper classmen in the marketing class were treated to a pizza party, courtesy of Tracy Chevrolet Cadillac. In addition, each participating student received a Tracy Chevrolet Cadillac drink koozie. Students recognized included: Michael Ahlstedt, Jared Bramhall, Nick Boutin, Emily Cleland, Hannah Conley, Jared Cullivan, Calvin Ellis, Brian Fasanello, Sean Folan, Andrew Gallant, Vicky Gilmore, Cam Groezinger, Gemma Henderson, Pat Horgan, Dan Leary, Madison McCormack, Jay McStowe, Trevor Metcalfe, James Mitchell, Jessica Morgan, John Myette, Tony Perry, Emily Pickett, Shannon Raeke, Casey Reilly, Nick Santos, Ashley Saunders,  and Robert Wallace.

“With the Driven Student program, we try to recognize students whose outstanding work has flown under the radar and the marketing group definitely falls under that category,” said Jeff Tracy, president of Tracy Chevrolet Cadillac. “By honoring the marketing students as our Driven Students of the month, we’re remedying that a little, plus giving them a proper send off for the statewide competition next month.”

Wise council…Tracy Chevrolet Cadillac recognizes Plymouth South Student Council members.

Plymouth South Driven Students

December 20, 2010 //  by admin

Plymouth South Driven Students
Plymouth South winners of the Tracy Chevrolet Cadillac Driven Student of the Month

PLYMOUTH, MA…

Taking a full course load, participating in an extracurricular or two and, oh yeah, doing a little homework is a plate full enough for most students. Students on Plymouth South High School’s Student Council gladly take on more as part of their duties on the council. That includes a healthy portion of community service. For those efforts and continued fine work in the classroom, the 20 members of the Plymouth South’s Student Council received the Tracy Chevrolet Cadillac Driven Student of the Month award for December.

“The Student Council is comprised of 35 elected officers and delegates, who are voted in by their fellow students. The rest are active members who enjoy working with others to bring changes to our school and community,” said Ann Wolf, the faculty advisor to the Student Council. “That so many young people would volunteer their time to this organization and the community as a whole says quite a bit about their character.”

The Council’s most recent effort involved creating and delivering 40 turkey dinners to families in need over Thanksgiving and more are going out for the Christmas holidays. While that gesture stands alone as being significant, it takes on added importance when you consider those meals went to the families of fellow South students. Currently the students are working on a “Backpack Bonanza” project. Backpacks will be filled and then sent off to the troops at the VA.

“Part of why we started the Driven Student program was to recognize the good work so many students do, people who might not get the public accolades reserved for the captain of the football team or straight A students,” said Jeff Tracy, president of Tracy Chevrolet Cadillac. “Based on their track record for community service, the student council members and volunteers are very worthy of Driven Student honors.”

For being selected Driven Students of the Month, the Council was treated to a pizza party, courtesy of Tracy Chevrolet Cadillac. Student Council members honored as Driven Students include: Melanie Dorn, Adam McGarry, Jonathan Obin, Samantha Barrett, Hannah Shepherd, Kaila Millett, Jazz Hicks, Nick Trainor, Abby Barufaldi, Patrick Walsh, Hillary Peavey, Santiago Narino, Tori Pisto, Maddie Braz, Melissa Connolly, Brenna McGinnis, Marissa Persichini, Julia Daly, Kyle Richard, Allison Daley, and Maris Kanter.

Knowing the language…Tracy Chevrolet Cadillac recognizes Plymouth North English students.

PLYMOUTH, MA…

Taking English in high school is a core requirement for high school students. For some students, that’s difficult enough. But imagine if it was your second language? That’s part of the reason why Tracy Chevrolet Cadillac recently honored students in Plymouth North High School’s English Language Learner program as Driven Students of the Month for November.

Maria daSilva teaches the program at Plymouth North High School, which includes 15 students whose native languages include Spanish, French, Arabic, Chinese, Vietnamese and Portuguese. The English program is an additional course of study on top of a full course load.

“A good portion of the students who started out in this program prior to high school did not speak or understand English at all,” said daSilva. “It’s a tribute to their character and determination that they not only have picked up the language but how they can then use that knowledge and do well in their classes.”

In fact, of the 15 class members, six made the honor roll for the first quarter. Those students are Wilson Parra, Carla Cardozo, Sharlene Vallecillo, Mi Mi Xiong, Ludmilla Magalhaes, and Kim Khuu. Other members of the class include Gustavo Alves, Vinicius Braga, Kamila Cordeiro, Ana Paula Da Silva, Smerling De los Santos, Mohamed Amine Mena, Fatima Mena, Alexandre Rodrigues,  and Leticia Magalhaes.

For being selected Driven Students of the Month, the class received a pizza party, courtesy of Tracy Chevrolet Cadillac. In addition to food and drink, the students also received Tracy Chevrolet drink koozies delivered by Tracy’s Service Manager Rick McGue and Business Manager John Fasolino.

“It’s absolutely astounding what these students have been able to accomplish—learning a new language—in such a short period. Then, for several of them to make the honor roll on top of that. It’s amazing,” said Jeff Tracy, president of Tracey Chevrolet Cadillac.

Driven to help others…Plymouth North students win Tracy Chevrolet Cadillac Driven Student Award for “Adopt a Platoon” program and “Literacy Leaders” efforts.

March 31, 2010 //  by admin

PLYMOUTH, MA…

In the two years since its inception, the Tracy Chevrolet Driven Student program has honored a number of Plymouth high school students for excelling inside and outside the classroom. This month’s honorees, members of Maggie Madden’s Literature class, are being recognized for their efforts as students and as teachers.

As students, the group participated in a “Share Literacy” program, which involves interaction with Life Skills students. In addition to helping them with their reading skills, Mrs. Madden’s students helped the Life Skills perform an abbreviated version of Charles Dickens’ Christmas Carol.

“I don’t know if I’ve ever been more proud of a group of students,” said Mrs. Madden. “The Life Skills students had a lot of fun in putting on the play but I think our students received the real gift. They had a chance to step outside their comfort zone and do something for others and that’s truly a gift.”

In addition to working with the Life Skills students, Mrs. Madden’s class initiated a school-wide “Adopt a Platoon” program. The initial intent of the program was for PNHS students to send letters to soldiers overseas. This class, however, took it a step further, adopting a specific soldier, Matthew Randall, a graduate of Plymouth South High School and son of Plymouth North custodian Dan Randall.

Presently stationed in South Korea and serving as a physician’s assistant, PFC Randall recently visited the class on Friday, March 26.  On that same day, Mrs. Madden’s class was recognized as the Tracy Chevrolet Cadillac Driven Students of the Month award.

In recognition of their work with the Life Skills students and the Adopt a Platoon program, the students were treated to a pizza party, courtesy of Tracy Chevrolet Cadillac. Tracy Chevrolet Cadillac Service Manager Rick McGue delivered the pizzas to the students and teachers attending the party.

Students taking part in mentoring the Life Skills students and the Adopt-a-Platoon program include: Adam Benedict, James Bradley, Alexander Dearn, Amber Desrosier, Dani Diaz, Deirdre Hill, Thomas Kane, Mike Khederian, Christopher Rose, Chris Schaefer and Ryan Shea.  In addition to their teacher, Mrs. Madden, these students rely on the aide of Alida Nickerson, Adjustment Counselor, and Tanya Little, Student Support Specialist.

“With our Driven Student Award, we make the effort to recognize students who may not get the credit deserved but our doing things worthy of recognition,” said Jeff Tracy, president of Tracy Chevrolet Cadillac. “By adopting PFC Randall and taking the Life Skills students under their wing, these students are most deserving of the Driven Student of the Month award.

Tracy Chevrolet Cadillac’s Driven Student program recognizes Plymouth high school students for their performance and achievements in and out of the classroom. Awarded on a monthly basis, recipients are selected by faculty and advisors at the student’s given school.
