Tireless neighbors receive a hand…Haley’s Tire & Service Center salutes good deeds of local citizens.

June 22, 2011 //  by admin

BIDDEFORD, BANGOR, AUGUSTA AND FALMOUTH, MAINE…

We all know that one person in our community who goes above and beyond for other people. Perhaps it’s the teenager next door who takes out the trash and drops off tomatoes from his garden for that elderly couple down the street. Or the DPW worker who goes 24-hours straight plowing roads during a snow storm. As a salute to these hard working Samaritans, Haley’s Tire & Service Center has established a “Tireless Neighbor” program.

The “Tireless Neighbor” program gives residents of the communities that Haley’s Tire & Service Centers serve the opportunity to nominate someone they know who goes above and beyond for their neighbors or their community.  Residents can nominate a potential “Tireless Neighbor” by sending a brief note, 200 words or less, describing their good deed. On the final day of the month, the staff at Haley’s Tire will select a winner who will receive a coupon for a free oil change at any of the four Haley’s Tire service centers.

“There are so many people doing wonderful things in the community, most of which go unnoticed and recognized,” said Tim Haley, owner of Haley’s Tire. “This program is just our small way of letting those people know that the acts of kindness and service that they do ARE noticed, recognized and appreciated by others in the community.”

People can nominate a Tireless Neighbor by sending an e-mail of 200 words or less to tirelessneighbor@haleystire.com. Please remember to include your name and telephone number as well as the name and telephone number or e-mail of the person they are nominating. Nominations can also be sent to the local Haley’s Tire & Service Center in their community addressed to Tireless Neighbor. The locations and mailing address of the four Haley’s Tire & Service Center are below:

  • Haley’s Tire & Service Center Augusta – 300 State Street, Augusta, ME 04330
  • Haley’s Tire & Service Center Bangor – 47 Bangor Mall Blvd, Bangor, ME 04401
  • Haley’s Tire & Service Center Biddeford – 124 Elm Street, Biddeford, ME 04001
  • Haley’s Tire & Service Center Falmouth – Route 1 Falmouth Shop Center, Falmouth, ME  04105

The selection of the first “Tireless Neighbor” will take place on July 31, 2011. Haley’s Tire & Service Center will announce the winner on its website at www.haleystire.com.

“We sell national tire products like Goodyear, Kelly Tires and others, but when you get right down to it, we’re a Maine company and we’re entrenched in the communities we serve,” said Haley. “The Tireless Neighbor program really is just saying telling one of our own, ‘nice job, keep up the good work’.”

Rodman & Rodman, P.C. Appoints Thomas Astore to Lead “Green Team” Clean Energy Practice

June 20, 2011 //  by admin

Rodman & Rodman, P.C., Certified Public Accountants and business strategists catering to small and medium sized companies throughout New England and beyond, has announced that Thomas Astore, CPA, JD, will lead the “Green Team” Renewable Energy and Clean Technology Practice.

Rodman & Rodman’s Green Team, assists alternative energy producers and investors with expert green energy tax advisory, accounting services, and business strategy through all stages of their project and business lifecycle.

Astore, who also serves a Rodman & Rodman’s Tax Director, will lead the Green Team in helping alternative energy and clean technology businesses determine the financial viability of their renewable energy projects and assist with the complexities of the various federal and state tax credits and incentives. The Green Team also provides accounting and compliance support with regulatory agencies. Astore is a graduate of Hofstra University and Fordham Law School, where he also was a member of the law review.

Steve Rodman, president of Rodman & Rodman explained, “We have invested a significant amount of time and energy in the clean technology business and have a comprehensive understanding of the various business models, their particular needs and the complex tax laws. Tom is highly experienced in these areas and is the ideal leader for our ‘Green Team’.”

He continued, “Over the past few years many states have enacted Renewable Portfolio Energy Standards (RPS) requiring a percentage of energy consumed in the state to come from renewable sources. To date, just over half of the states have enacted this kind of legislation. Massachusetts added the Green Communities Act which establishes an RPS standard that will increase over the next several years with the goal of achieving 25% by 2030. Because of this increasing standard, electric utilities will be looking to add renewable sources to their portfolios, either by direct investment or by purchasing the electricity from outside suppliers. The demand for renewable energy is only going to increase and our Green Team will help position clean energy companies and projects for success.”

Rodman & Rodman’s Green Team offers its services for companies in the biomass, wind, solar, geothermal, landfill gasses, municipal solid waste, hydroelectric and hydrokinetic sectors of the renewable energy industry. They also assist startup projects (which typically do not earn taxable income in their first years and benefit from a tax credit) with the Section 1603 program.

The 1 Day Divorce Kit now available. The kit outlines the process, cost savings and privacy of a 1-day Caribbean divorce for all US citizens.

June 16, 2011 //  by admin

R. Christian Haufler
R. Christian Haufler

NORWELL, MASSACHUSETTS…

All marriages are made in heaven; one half are settled in court.  The traditional U.S. divorce process typically lingers on average, over one year.  Starting with a mediation agreement that is acceptable to both parties, a one day divorce is just that – accomplished in one day in the Caribbean.  They are legal and enforceable in the United States.

To better inform the public on the one day divorce option, family law attorneys at Haufler Associates and law based in Massachusetts and Florida, have developed a “1 Day Divorce Kit” that is now available via their website – www.1DayDivorce.com.

A one day divorce is NOT a new or exotic idea.  Since 1980, Haufler Associates have processed numerous, one day divorces in the Caribbean.

Almost everyone has a friend or relative with a divorce horror story, from the emotional trauma to the cost.  We all cringe at the tales of $50,000 to $100,000 cost and bitter give and take.  With 1 Day Divorce, the standard cost is $5,000.  That includes $2,000 in legal fees and $3,000 for attorneys processing the divorce in the Caribbean.  Transportation and overnight hotel is nominal.

“Most people think that only movie stars and other celebrities can afford or arrange for a one day, private divorce in the Caribbean,” noted Attorney R. Christian Haufler, Jr., Managing Director of Haufler Associates.  He continued, “Now, when appropriate of course, a one day Caribbean divorce is affordable, private, legal and binding when done properly.”  “Privacy of your agreement with assets, support and children issues are protected.”

A divorce in the Caribbean is protected  and  recognized by the Hague Convention, the Federal Internal Revenue Service, and the Social Security Act (24 U.S.C. 402(e) 1, 416(c) and 416  (d)(2).  It is enforceable as a “foreign divorce”, similar to a divorce in another state or country.

Conventional divorce proceedings held in the United States tend to be in crowded, open court rooms, with weeks or months of delay.  The details of your agreement are often echoed among bystanders and strangers.  The court documents are also public record for a nosey neighbor or co-worker to thumb through.  Numerous public records are going internet, similar to our Registry of Deeds.

A Caribbean divorce is held in private session.  The paperwork, although legal and binding, is not accessible to the public.  It is reviewed and sealed by the court.

No culpability or fault need be alleged or proven to get a divorce in the Caribbean.  In the U.S., it is referred to as “no fault divorce” or “irreconcilable differences”.  Like the United States, grounds of incompatibility of the parties are accepted in the Caribbean.

Only one spouse of the divorcing couple must be present at the Caribbean hearing. Haufler Associates requests and highly recommends both parties attend.   There are other legal requirements and documents that will be prepared for the court to accept.  If either party resides outside of the United States, there are additional documents that are required, which the office will also prepare.

The Caribbean is a short hop away.  American Airlines has non-stop flights to the Caribbean from Boston, Miami, JFK, San Juan and St. Marten.  Continental has daily non-stop flights from Newark.  Delta has non-stop flights from Atlanta and JFK.  Jet Blue has a non-stop flight from JFK.  US Airways has a non-stop flight from Philadelphia.  Spirit has non-stop flights from Fort Lauderdale.  Clients may depart on any flight after 2:00 PM on the date of the court appearance.

Safe, clean and comfortable accommodations are the standard in the Caribbean. Most clients choose a hotel that meets all American standards including swimming pool, tennis courts, sauna, massage and steam room, cocktail lounges, and a restaurant. Room rates start at $149.00 per night.

Haufler Associates, with offices in Massachusetts, Florida, and an associated office in the Caribbean, has a staff of 10 in the U.S. and six in the Caribbean.  The staff works both standard and flexible hours to expedite each divorce and accommodate each client’s schedule.

Each party has an attorney and interpreter as required by the laws of the country.  The proceedings are very formal, recorded by the court reporter, filed and docketed by the Court Clerks.   Court officers are in the court room at all times.

R. Christian Haufler, Jr. is an honors graduate of Ripon College in Ripon, Wisconsin, and was awarded his Juris Doctor degree by Boston College Law School in 1977.  He has successfully completed advanced trial courses at the American Academy of Trial Lawyers at Harvard Law School and the Massachusetts Academy of Trial Attorneys.  He is admitted to practice law in Massachusetts and Florida and before the Supreme Court of the United States.  He has 30 years of experience in Family Law, practicing since 1981.

In 1974, he was commissioned as an Officer in the United States Army and was active as a Captain in the United States Army Military Intelligence until 1989.  He is a distinguished graduate of the United States Air Force, Air Group Operation School at Eglin Air Force Base Florida.

For your copy of the “1 Day Divorce Kit”, visit www.1DayDivorce.com.  To arrange an initial confidential, complimentary half hour appointment in the firm’s 22 Washington Street, Route 53, Norwell, Massachusetts office, call (781) 871-3800 or 1-800-44-LEGAL or email haufler@hauflerlaw.com. Offsite appointments are available upon request.

Treasurer Steve Grossman, Representative Steve Walsh Keynote Mass Home Care’s 28th Annual Lunch

June 14, 2011 //  by admin

On Monday, two prominent “Steves” will address a crowd of elder and disability rights advocates at the 28th Annual Meeting of the Mass Home Care Association. State Treasurer Steve Grossman will be talking about his new “financial literacy” initiative, and House Health Care Financing Chairman Rep. Steve Walsh will be talking about health care reform and global payments.

12 staff members from Old Colony Elder Services, the regional elder services agency headquartered in Brockton, including Executive Director Diana DiGiorgi and Assistant Executive Director Tim Valentine, will be among the 250+ expected guests at the Burlington Marriot hotel beginning at 11:30 AM.

Treasurer Grossman will speak first at 11:45 AM, and Chairman Walsh will speak after lunch around 1 pm.

Mass Home Care, which was founded in 1986, is one of the most visible statewide groups fighting for the rights of elderly and disabled individuals. Mass Home Care wrote the Equal Choice law, which was signed by Governor Mitt Romney in 2006. This law says that people on MassHealth have the right to be cared for in the ‘least restrictive setting” appropriate to their needs. Mass Home Care, and its members, is also responsible for securing hundreds of millions in state and federal funding to help keep people living at home; the 30 member agencies provided care management, coordination and monitoring of services for more than 64,000 individuals last year.

According to Mass Home Care, because of community-based programs, MassHealth’s use of nursing facility days has decreased by 29% since 2001; in 2011 this will save state taxpayers almost $600 million in institutional costs. Nursing facility care still comprises 64 percent of all long term care spending by MassHealth. The group says its goal is to reach the point where two-thirds of MassHealth funding goes into community care, where consumers want to be.

For more event details, contact: info@masshomecare.org, or call Mass Home Care at 978-502-3794.

Looking for a few good men. eLove announces Over-40 Men’s Division for singles re-entering the dating game.

June 10, 2011 //  by admin

NORWELL, MASSACHUSETTS…

As astronauts prepare to re-enter the earth’s atmosphere, they put on a special suit. This suit not only takes into account the climate change, but the condition of their bodies after a difficult journey. The newly single 40-something male does not have that luxury to ease their re-entry into the dating world. That’s why eLove, one world’s largest professional matchmaking services, recently created a special division to cater to the needs of newly single men over 40.

“When you come out of a divorce or breakup and you haven’t been on a date in a while, it can feel like you are on another planet where you don’t speak the language and all the rules of society have changed,” said Paul A. Falzone, CEO of eLove. “With this new division, our matchmakers can provide male singles over 40 with a bit of a refresher course on dating and also help them mentally prepare to date once again.”

Some of that guidance involves going over the unspoken rules of dating, like: who picks up the tab; when and how often to call or text; should you kiss her goodnight on the first date, second?; how long should you date someone before becoming intimate; etc. Yet the real focus of the new division is mental preparation

“A lot of men who are over 40 and single again have not been single for quite some time. On top of that, many weren’t fathers and singles and that does change how you go about things,” said Falzone.

Whether you use a matchmaking company or not, Falzone recommends:

  • Going slow – perhaps it’s a cliché, but a divorce is a life-altering event and you do need some time to heal.
  • Avoid the bar scene – Getting out with friends and co-workers as a way to re-enter the social scene but don’t do it as a way to meet potential dates.
  • Get fit – Being ready to date again means feeling good about yourself. Starting an exercise program or going to a gym can begin that process of feeling good about  you again.
  • Be wary of dating at work – it’s natural for you to be close to people you work with, particularly if they’ve helped you through a tough time. Just be careful before entering into a relationship or even dating somebody at the office.
  • Networking – While being set up might not be your idea of getting back into the dating game, if you’re looking it couldn’t hurt to let people in your social or professional network know that you are interested in meeting new people.
  • The ex – It’s safe to say that dwelling on the ex will not do much good in dating new people. Just remember that you’re dating again for you, not to get back at him/her or to find somebody before he or she does.
  • Take your time before introducing your dates to friends and, especially family – if you think your divorce is an adjustment for you, it’s also one for family, friends and your children. Wait before introducing your date to them, especially the children.
  • No overnight guests – If you have children, wait a significant amount of time before having any overnight guests—at least until your date is something more serious and has had a chance to form some kind of a relationship with your kids.

“At 40, we’re supposed to be wiser to the ways of the world. But the dating world can be an entirely different world,” said Falzone. “With our new division, over 40 single males have not only the opportunity to meet the right person, but to have the information and be in the right mindset to make that love connection happen.”

eLove is all you need

eLove, the next evolution in dating, has arrived.  eLove is the first “life stage company” within the dating industry to provide different levels of dating services, from internet to traditional matchmaking, based on how serious singles are about meeting their soul mate.  Never before has a dating service catered so completely to everyone regardless of their age, sex, or relationship goals. With 52 matchmaking offices in 23 states and an online dating network of more than three million singles worldwide, eLove is everything that singles have been wishing for whether they are looking for casual dating or a serious, committed relationship.

eLove’s Matchmaking Service offices are located in:  Arkansas (Bentonville, Fort Smith, Little Rock); California (Los Angeles, Palo Alto, Sacramento, Walnut Creek, San Diego, Santa Rosa, Westlake); Connecticut (Glastonbury, Stamford); Illinois (Chicago, Downers Grove, Normal, Schaumburg, Rockford); Indiana (Carmel, Ft. The procedure penetrates to the skin’s deepest layer, stimulating both collagen and elastin production. ePrime (Syneron) utilizes radio frequency energy to activate the dermis.

“We are excited to offer this cutting-edge procedure to our patients as a non-surgical alternative to traditional lifts,” noted Richard Eisen, M.D. “Its effectiveness is similar to other ablative lasers, yet it is unique because it also stimulates the production of new elastin and hyaluronic acid. Patients have noticeably improved skin tone and volume – a more youthful appearance.”
