Rodman & Rodman P.C. Experiences Rapid Growth, Adds Staff

Rodman & Rodman, P.C., an independent accounting and tax firm with a specialty practice in clean technology and renewable energy, has expanded their accounting team to accommodate their rapidly growing practice.

Five new accountants have joined the Rodman & Rodman team:

Jennifer Murphy, a resident of Stoneham, has been appointed as an Accountant. Ms. Murphy has more than 15 years of experience in both private and public accounting. She is a certified QuickBooks ProAdvisor and is a tremendous resource for companies using this software. Ms. Murphy holds a Bachelor of Science in Accounting and Finance from St. Anselm College in Manchester, NH.

Nancy Kozak, a resident of Hopkinton, has been appointed as an Accountant. Ms. Kozak brings many years of accounting and small business experience to the Rodman team, as she previously owned and operated a professional bookkeeping business in the greater Boston area. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from Bryant College in Smithfield, RI.

Kate Doherty, a resident of Bridgewater, has been appointed as Staff Accountant. Ms. Doherty holds a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from Salve Regina University in Newport, RI and will soon receive a Master’s in Business Administration. She will pursue CPA certification shortly afterwards.

Robert Savidge, a resident of South Boston, has been appointed as Staff Accountant. Mr. Savidge is a graduate of Suffolk University, earning a degree in Accounting with a minor in Management. He is in the process of pursuing his MBA and his CPA certification.

Elysha Sturm, a resident of Foxboro, has been appointed as Staff Accountant. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from Suffolk University. Currently she is in the process of pursuing a Master’s degree in Taxation and CPA certification.

Two additional Tax Accountants, Tony Perrotta, CPA, MST and Vipul Shah, MBA, MST have joined Rodman & Rodman for tax season ensuring that the practice continues to provide the highest level of service to clients. Tony Perrotta, CPA, MST has a lengthy career in public accounting. He is a graduate of Northeastern University and Bentley University’s McCallum Graduate School of Business where he received his Master of Science in Taxation. He is a member of the business honor society, Beta Gamma Sigma. Vipul Shah, MBA, MST is a resident of Waltham and has 12 years of accounting and tax experience in the Boston area. The company had planned a golden anniversary gala in Boston this holiday season to celebrate this momentous event, but instead decided a donation to the Old Colony YMCA’s Camp Clark would be the best celebration of all.

Rodman & Rodman has been a long-time supporter of Camp Clark, an Old Colony YMCA sponsored recreation camp for children in Plymouth, MA. “Camp Clark has a strong tradition of encouraging the physical and emotional growth of its campers,” said Steve Rodman, president of Rodman & Rodman, P.C. “We are delighted to continue our support for this organization with a contribution in honor of our 50th anniversary and continued success.”

Rodman & Rodman, P.C., Certified Public Accountants and business strategists catering to small and medium sized companies throughout New England and beyond, has announced that Thomas Astore, CPA, JD, will lead the “Green Team” Renewable Energy and Clean Technology Practice.

Rodman & Rodman’s Green Team, assists alternative energy producers and investors with expert green energy tax advisory, accounting services, and business strategy through all stages of their project and business lifecycle.

Astore, who also serves a Rodman & Rodman’s Tax Director, will lead the Green Team in helping alternative energy and clean technology businesses determine the financial viability of their renewable energy projects and assist with the complexities of the various federal and state tax credits and incentives. The Green Team also provides accounting and compliance support with regulatory agencies. Astore is a graduate of Hofstra University and Fordham Law School, where he also was a member of the law review.

He continued, “Over the past few years many states have enacted Renewable Portfolio Energy Standards (RPS) requiring a percentage of energy consumed in the state to come from renewable sources. To date, just over half of the states have enacted this kind of legislation. Massachusetts added the Green Communities Act which establishes an RPS standard that will increase over the next several years with the goal of achieving 25% by 2030. Because of this increasing standard, electric utilities will be looking to add renewable sources to their portfolios, either by direct investment or by purchasing the electricity from outside suppliers. The demand for renewable energy is only going to increase and our Green Team will help position clean energy companies and projects for success.”
