May 7, 2013 //  by admin

Lee Holt

Lee Holt has been named Marketing Specialist at Emerson Bearing Boston, providers of bearing and related products for OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturers) and MRO (Maintenance, Repair and Operations) markets around the globe. Holt will lead Emerson Bearing Boston’s Wood Products Division dedicated to accommodating the unique bearing needs of wood industry customers.

Holt, who has been a key member of the Emerson Bearing Boston team for 47 years, has been promoted from Inside Sales to Marketing Specialist and will oversee the Wood Products Division.

Holt has comprehensive knowledge of bearings, having begun his career with Emerson Bearing Boston as a part-time warehouse stock assistant when he was a student. After graduating from Boston Trade School of Roxbury, he began working full-time at Emerson Bearing Boston and received hands-on training in fulfillment and sales.

From logs to finished cabinetry, the wood industry spans a variety of bearing requirements. At the logging level heavy duty mounted units and roller chain are essential as the logs are de-limbed and rough processed at the sawmill. Emerson Bearing Boston, providers of bearing and related products for OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturers) and MRO (Maintenance, Repair and Operations) markets around the globe, has announced a Power Generation Division dedicated to accommodating the unique bearing needs of utilities.

Emerson Bearing Boston’s Power Generation clients include Coal and Gas fired Electric utilities stretching from the Northeast to Guam, Bermuda and the Caribbean. Rick Piracini, Marketing Specialist and industry expert at Emerson Bearing Boston, oversees this new division and assists clients in determining which bearing technologies would be most suitable by taking into consideration the specifications, recommendations, maintenance strategies, fatigue life and wear resistance of the bearing in relation to the application.

Power generation requires uninterrupted bearing service. Emerson’s 24/7 service and inventory are critical to the operations of utility clients. The ball and roller bearings for the pumps, compressors, electric motors and drives must meet critical internal clearances, cage designs and Abec precision class. Emerson’s inventory includes Split Bearing Pillow Blocks, Cylindrical Roller Bearings, Ball Bearings, Type E Pillow Blocks, M2000 Pillow Blocks, Oil Seals and Isolator Seals, Spherical Roller Bearings, Cylindrical Roller Bearings and Spherical Bushings.

Product Engineers Call Upon Emerson Bearing Boston for Bearing Expertise During R&D

March 20, 2013 //  by admin

Emerson Bearing Boston, providers of bearing and related products for OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturers) and MRO (Maintenance, Repair and Operations) markets around the globe, is much more than a bearings supplier. The company’s bearing experts often consult with product engineers during product research and development.

Recent design innovations where Emerson Bearing Boston played a key role in the development of specific bearings for robotics and automation in the health care industry include ErgoNurse®, which is a bed repositioning system that enables medical staff to single-handedly reposition patients without manually lifting them. The company also assisted in the development of a custom, thin, air-frame style bearing for a Boston-based manufacturer of prosthetics.

According to Steve Katz, president of Emerson Bearing Boston, “We often have clients come to us with a specific bearing need. Our prosthetic manufacturing client required a control bearing which allowed for replication of the movement of the ankle. We developed a thin section bearing that is very precise and able to endure high loads at low speed, in other words, a bearing that supports a human’s weight and movement.”

Emerson Bearing Boston’s bearing expertise has also been tapped in the design of the system for the spare tire on the back of Humvee and Hummers.

Katz continued, “Our clients are innovators. They are creating products for the next generation and we’re honored to advise them during product development.”

Emerson Bearing Boston Offers On-Site Engineering Seminars

March 15, 2013 //  by admin

Emerson Bearing Boston, providers of bearing and related products for OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturers) and MRO (Maintenance, Repair and Operations) markets around the globe, recently announced Engineering Seminars for companies located in the greater Boston area.

Emerson Bearing’s Engineering Seminars are held on-site for a company’s employees. A senior field service engineer from the factory that Emerson Bearing Boston represents will educate staff about bearings and related parts.

Most recently, Emerson Bearing Boston spoke at Schnitzer Northeast in Everett, which is the metals recycling yard, port and regional office of Schnitzer Steel Industries, Inc., a leading global metal recycler.

“Our engineering seminars are designed to educate clients about bearings and related parts required for their machinery which manufactures, processes or recycles products,” noted Steve Katz, president.

Bearings often operate in unique performance conditions such as dirty and biohazardous environments, extremely hot/cold temperatures and environments where chemicals, radiation, speed/velocity and size play a major role. Emerson Bearing’s experts educate clients about the factors involved in the smooth operation of bearings and ultimately in the prevention of premature bearing failure.

“A dry dirty environment is typically an environment that generates some kind of dust. A wet dirty environment often involves water or a chemical that emulsifies with the oil (bearing lubricant), which causes the bearing to fail. To give you an example, worn seals on linear bearings that are used in a dirty environment will enable contamination. Even with the best design, lubrication and installation, bearing failure will occur if the operating environment is not taken into consideration,” explained Steve Katz, Emerson Bearing’s president. “Ideally, our engineering seminars will help companies eliminate the guesswork; avoid costly downtime and ensure maximum operational efficiency.”

To arrange an engineering seminar, contact Emerson Bearing Boston at 866-995-8765.

Rick Piricini
Emerson Bearing Boston, providers of bearing and related products for OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturers) and MRO (Maintenance, Repair and Operations) markets around the globe, has announced a dedicated division for manufacturers of robotics and automation. Rick Piracini, Emerson Bearing’s industry solutions expert, will lead the new Robotics and Automation Division.

Piracini oversees Emerson Bearing’s knowledgeable Robotics and Automation team and assists clients in determining which bearing technologies would be most suitable by taking into consideration the specifications, recommendations, maintenance strategies, fatigue life and wear resistance of the bearing in relation to their applications.

Robotics and automation require the highest standards in bearings. All movements have to be supported with extremely high precision and reliability in every axis. This provides smooth running, high load capacity, rigidity and long life. Ball bearings, miniature instrumentation bearings and linear motion bearings are used in a number of factories that manufacture the robotic machinery and automated equipment.

For manufacturers in need of special solutions, Emerson Bearing offers thin cross section, high capacity, ball bearings in radial, angular or four point contact styles. Plain bearings (bushings) for small radial or axial design envelopes, which are maintenance free, are available in metal backed style with a liner or thermoplastic with a composition to suit various needs: food grade, high load, dirty environment, etc. Emerson Bearing also provides expert linear guidance for unique applications.

Emerson Bearing offers a vast inventory and 24/7 service, which is critical to customers’ operations. Among Emerson Bearing’s wide range of clients is a very large manufacturer of Robotic and Automation equipment that serves the Automotive industry as well as the automation of the complete assembly of Flat screen televisions.

“Our off-the-shelf inventory, same day service and weekend operating hours help factories avoid costly down-time by providing the necessary bearings that are critical to their operations as well as the production lines of their manufacturing customers,” noted Steve Katz, president.

To contact Rick Piracini in the Robotics and Automation division directly, call 1-866-995-8765 or email rickp@emersonbearing.com.

By Land and By Sea – Emerson Bearing Boston has a new Niche

August 7, 2012 //  by admin

Boston based Emerson Bearing, a company that is renowned for their vast inventory of bearings and speedy 24/7 service to land-based customers, has identified a new niche of seafaring customers. As one of the largest providers of bearings and related products to OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturers) and MRO (Maintenance, Repair and Operations) markets nationally and internationally, Emerson Bearing Boston has seen their sales swell and found a new niche catering to port authorities and the marine spares industry.

“Shore to Ship” Fulfillment

Joe Falvey, Marketing Specialist oversees Emerson Bearing Boston’s Marine Division. Typically, Falvey’s point of contact for bearing orders is the ship’s chancellor. Once an order is placed, Emerson Bearing often meets the ship to fulfill the order. The company has a growing New England customer base which includes a number of commercial shipping and fishing boat accounts, as well as a number of national and international customers such as Guam Shipyard, a large industrial contractor for the U.S. Navy.

The Marine Spares industry and Port Authorities require constant “uptime” as they exist in a 24/7 work environment. Whether bearings and related products are needed for driveshafts, overhead cranes, fork lift trucks or other applications, Emerson Bearing Boston’s 24/7 service and inventory are critical to their operations.

Emerson Bearing provides Split Roller bearings, which allow for rapid bearing replacement especially at difficult to access locations, such as driveshafts. For the Sheave wheels, cranes and tensioner blocks, Emerson Bearing recommends the SL Sheave Wheel bearings because they provide extra high dynamic and static load ratings and come with rubber seals to prevent water and dust intrusion. Additional related products that Emerson Bearing carries include: Sheave Wheel Bearings, Split Spherical Roller Bearings, Craft Split Bearing, Ball Bearings, Roller Bearings, Leaf Chain, V Belts, Hydraulic Cylinders, Pumps, Oil seals and Isolator Seals.

To keep the unloading process from slowing down, Emerson Bearing Boston can provide cut to length Leaf Chain forklift chain on a 24-hour basis. Plus, the company’s worldwide freight relationships better enable them to serve markets around the world – and literally meet a ship at port if necessary to deliver bearings.

According to Steve Katz, the company’s president, “Some of our clients are halfway around the world and they know they can count on us. They have placed their confidence in us and we deliver, whether it’s a large job or a small repair where they may just need oil seals. Accuracy on promised delivery dates is crucial. For customers such as Guam Shipyard, the vessels are scheduled to arrive in port at a certain time and once they pull in, the clock starts. Everything runs on a schedule and there are repercussions for any delays. That’s where we really set ourselves apart from competitors; we’re efficient, cost-effective and reliable.”

To reach Joe Falvey in the Marine division, contact 866-995-8760 or email jfalvey@emersonbearing.com.
