Emerson Bearing Announces Printing Division

August 12, 2013 //  by admin

Emerson Bearing Boston, a bearing company catering to OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturers) and MRO (Maintenance, Repair and Operations) markets around the world, has experienced increased demand for bearings and related products for prepress, offset, digital printing and paper converting, and established a Printing Division to specifically cater to these markets.

Rick Piracini, an industry solutions expert with more than a decade of experience, will oversee converting and printing clients of Emerson Bearing Boston’s Printing division, while industry expert Lee Holt oversees pulp and paper clients. They assist clients in determining which bearing technologies would be most suitable by taking into consideration the specifications, recommendations, maintenance strategies, fatigue life and wear resistance of the bearing in relation to the application.

“At every point in the process of going from pulp to print these bearings have to meet the highest standards. In the initial phase of creating paper the rolling bearings in a paper machine must meet extreme requirements: Moisture, very high temperatures, shaft deflections, high speeds and long running times,” explained Steve Katz, president of Emerson Bearing Boston.

Paper Converting

The process of converting paper into a usable form has very different bearing requirements. Slitters and rewinders require high-speed ball bearings and linear motion bearings that have high running accuracy.

Printing

To achieve the required pin sharp print quality, Emerson Bearing Boston provides high precision and wear free bearing supports for the print rollers. This insures that the impression cylinder is supported with as little clearance, and as much rigidity as possible and with very few runout errors. The NAO style needle bearing with offset cage packets has become the standard. Needle rollers, Cam Followers and yoke rollers are used extensively in the distributor roller drives, gripper shaft controls and throughout the presses. Other related products available through Emerson Bearing include: ball bearings, needle bearings, roller bearings, linear motion, free running, mounted units, oil seals, cam followers and rod ends.

Emerson Bearing Boston provides special solutions to printing and paper converting clients such as a special high speed lubricant as well as the use of ‘free running’ insert bearings and pillow blocks. These have modified seals and slingers on both sides, which allow for low start up torque and effective sealing even in high heat applications.

“The printing industry has made a come-back. Due to the increased demand, we’ve created an entire division to specifically cater to their needs,” noted Katz.

To reach Emerson Bearing’s Printing Division, contact (866) 995-8765.

The Emerson Bearing Difference

In a proud tradition, the same families that started the company in 1957 keep Emerson Bearing Boston rolling by specializing in bearings for OEM and MRO markets throughout the world. Emerson Bearing’s highly knowledgeable staff, operating from their 23,000 square foot facility, provides bearings ranging in size from 3mm to tunnel-boring 15-foot-diameter giants.

Emerson Bearing Boston provides solutions to a variety of industries including: aggregate, concrete, mining, machine tools, electric motor repair, marine, material handling, metal processing, packaging, food processing, paper converting, printing, wind/power generation, recreation, heavy construction, robotics, automation, transportation, wood products, wastewater treatment, pump, compressor and oil field.

Emerson Bearing Boston offers customers a one-stop shopping experience. With an online product catalog with over 3 million bearings; a vast inventory of bearings; worldwide sourcing; a fixed price program; a knowledgeable staff dedicated to delivering; same day shipping and 24/7 service, Emerson Bearing has become the leading provider of bearings to OEM and MRO markets in the U.S. They are the sister company of Action Bearing and maintain headquarters at 201 Brighton Ave. Boston, MA. Dr. Chang’s Farm of Whately, Mass. receives organic recertification for schizandra berries

August 12, 2013 //  by admin

Chang's Farm
Dr. Tso-Cheng Chang, owner of Dr. Chang’s Farm in Whatley, Mass., stands with one of Dr. Chang’s Farm’s main organic crops, schizandra berries. The US Department of Agriculture recently recertified Dr. Chang’s schizandra berries as organic. Featured on the Dr. Oz Show, schizandra berry supports healthy energy, vitality, cell function, calming relaxation, mental clarity, stamina, immunity, detoxification, reproduction and digestion.

WHATELY, MA…

Dr. Chang’s Farm, located in Whately, Massachusetts, recently received its recertification from the United States Department of Agriculture’s Organic Program for its schizandra berries. The recertification means that schizandra berries grown at Dr. Chang’s Farm continue to meet the requirements of the USDA’s national organic program.

“Organic” has become one of those buzz words that’s become trendy in years, sort of like the word ‘green’. Unfortunately, more than a few growers and marketers have called their crops and ingredients ‘organic’ without having gone through the process of certification in compliance with the USDA’s national organic standards. This USDA program officially defines what is organic and what is not,” said Steve Dubin, a spokesman for Chang’s Naturals, a division of Dr. Chang’s Farm that grows and wholesales their certified schizandra berries. “Given that millions of consumers today are looking for pesticide- and herbicide-free foods and supplements, complying with these standards is a top priority at Dr. Chang’s Farm.”

More specifically, to be recognized as an organic grower by the USDA, farms must produce their crops using national organic program-approved methods that integrate cultural, biological and mechanical practices that foster cycling of resources, promote ecological balance and conserve biodiversity. Use of synthetic fertilizers, sewage sludge, irradiation, and genetic engineering (GMOs) are strictly prohibited.

Organic certification is indicative of the farm’s practices since its inception in the mid 1970s when Dr. Chang began to grow fresh Chinese vegetables for his award-winning restaurant, Amherst Chinese Food. Dr. Chang has been a long-time practitioner of pesticide and herbicide-free farming. He has also utilized other earth-friendly techniques such as soil remineralization where by spraying rock dust on crops the farm has been able to consistently produce nutrient-dense food.

Dr Chang’s early commitment to these growing techniques has firmly established his farm as a leader in the movement towards density-rich foods. These include schizandra berries, Chinese vegetables sold his award-winning restaurant, Amherst Chinese Food, and the bean sprouts grown at the state-of-the-art facility located at Dr. Chang’s Farm. This ultra-modern facility produces hundreds of thousands of pounds of mung and soy sprouts every week.

In addition to being organic, Dr. Chang’s Farm’s lays claim to being the only commercial grower of schizandra berries in North America.

These super-healthy berries are rapidly becoming known throughout the U.S.  Recently featured on national television shows like Dr. Oz, people are becoming more and more aware of the word “adaptogen”.  This term has been applied to certain botanicals capable of bringing balance to the body. In short, it helps ‘adapt’ to what the body needs at the moment. One person may need energy, another stress relief. An adaptogen helps both by assisting the body to reach its optimum level of health and well-being – a state referred to by science as ‘homeostasis’.

Whether it’s in its whole berry form, beverage or powder, schizandra berry supports healthy energy, vitality, cell function, calming relaxation, mental clarity, stamina, immunity, detoxification, reproduction and digestion.

“Nowadays, millions of people are looking towards natural, holistic solutions rather than prescription drugs,” said Dubin. “USDA Organic Certification assures these consumers they can trust Dr. Chang’s Farm to give them the best schizandra berries in the world.”

Dr Chang Naturals grows and wholesales their certified organic schizandra berry powder worldwide. Consumers and retailers can learn more about this powder, and how to buy it, by contacting the distributor Lucidera at www.organicschizandra.com.  You can also order of a glass of fresh schizandra berry juice at Dr. Chang’s restaurant. Amherst Chinese has offered this for over 18 years and remains the only place in America, and perhaps the world, where you can find this healthy beverage on the menu.

For more information about Chang’s Naturals, you can visit http://www.organicchiberry.com.

August 12, 2013 //  by admin

On Saturday, August 24th and Sunday, August 25th, Mansfield Crossing will host the high flying action of DockDogs®, the largest outdoor aquatics canine competition in the world. Dogs can participate in various competitions from 10am until 5pm outside LL Bean.

If you have a dog that likes to run, jump, and get wet, make sure you don’t miss out on the fastest growing sport for canines in North America.

Aside from the competitions, spectators will also be able to enjoy treats and deals from the stores and restaurants at Mansfield Crossing all weekend.

With each grab, the height increases in 2-inch increments until only one dog is crowned king.

“We’re so happy to be hosting Dock Docks once again at Mansfield Crossing,” commented Niamh O’Maille, Marketing Manager for WS Development. “We hope the local community will join us for this exciting weekend and enjoy themselves at our shopping center.”
