SelecTech floors Columbia Kettle Works with its own logo and brand

March 18, 2015 //  by admin

SelecTech, Inc. now offers its retail customers digital capabilities, enablings retail outlets to put their brand in the floor like SelecTech client Columbia Kettle Works.
SelecTech, Inc. now offers its retail customers digital capabilities, enablings retail outlets to put their brand in the floor like SelecTech client Columbia Kettle Works.

COLUMBIA, PA and AVON, MA…

SelecTech, Inc., a leader in the manufacture of innovative flooring products from recycled materials, recently added to its retail offerings by enabling clients to have their logo digitally embedded into their flooring products. Columbia Kettle Works, a craft brewer based in Columbia, Pennsylvania, was a first adopter of this offering.

Utilizing its FreeStyle flooring solution, SelecTech embedded Columbia Kettle Works logo into the brewery’s flooring that sits in the hallway between the interior and exterior doors. For a newer business like Columbia Kettle, the flooring offers numerous benefits.

“Besides the obvious branding opportunity, the flooring employs ours patented interlocking technology,” said Thomas Ricciardelli, president of SelecTech, Inc. “So, installation took place without messy adhesives, directly over the existing floor.”

Maintenance is another key advantage to this technology. Since Columbia Kettle Works only sells beer, patrons desiring food have to visit a food truck that serves people outside the brewery. Potentially, the average patron could come in and out of the Columbia Kettle Works two or three times during their visit. The interlocking tiles can be uninstalled and powerwashed easily; then reinstalled after dry.

“This branding opportunity isn’t limited to merely putting your logo on your floor. As part of our retail offering, we can digitally create flooring for kiosks and shops within retail outlets,” said Ricciardelli. “That’s part of what we’ll be showing this month at GlobalShop 2015.”

GlobalShop is the world’s largest annual event for retail design and shopper marketing.  SelecTech, Inc. will be an exhibitor at booth 3625 at Global Shop 2015, March 24-26, at the Mandalay Bay Convention Center in Las Vegas.

SelecTech products are made from recycled materials and are 100 percent recyclable.

To learn more about SelecTech products, including FreeStyle flooring products, visit http://www.selectechinc.com. For information on Global Shop 2015, visit www.globalshop.org.

About SelecTech, Inc.

SelecTech, Inc. was founded in 1993 with the mission of creating valuable products from scrap plastics. The company has become a leader in the manufacture of flooring products from recycled materials and uses one million pounds of recycled materials annually. Their products are made with up to 100 percent recycled content, are 100 percent recyclable and installed without adhesives making them some of the “greenest” and most cost-effective flooring products available. The unique interlock system on SelecTech’s flooring products enable them to be installed at a much lower cost, without a lot of costly downtime, which provides significant value to customers.

Using state-of-the-art technology and innovative product design, SelecTech created the top performing Place N’ Go residential flooring products, which are available at Home Depot. They are also the creators of the renowned commercial and industrial FreeStyle, FreeStyle BioLock, FreeStyle ESD and StaticStop ESD flooring lines.

SelecTech is a vendor partner of Health Care Institute, an International Facility Management Association (IFMA) alliance partner. The company is headquartered at 33 Wales Avenue, Suite F in Avon, MA. For more information about SelecTech, visit http://www.selectechinc.com.

SelecTech goes Global, Avon, MA-based company to exhibit at Global Shop 2015

LAS VEGAS, NV and AVON, MA…

SelecTech, Inc., a leader in the manufacture of innovative flooring products from recycled materials, will be an exhibitor at Global Shop 2015, March 24-26 at the Mandalay Bay Convention Center in Las Vegas. SelecTech will man booth 3625.

GlobalShop is the world’s largest annual event for retail design and shopper marketing. It’s the only show in the world where you can find the largest, most comprehensive array of store fixture companies and more in-store solutions than any live event in the nation.

“This is our first time exhibiting at Global Shop and we can’t wait to show attendees the retail applications of our flooring products—particularly as it pertains to branding and in-store kiosks,” said Thomas Ricciardelli, president of SelecTech Inc. “Beyond being able to make your flooring part of your retail store’s branding, our products reduce or even eliminate down time for installation and maintenance, something that is critical for retail outlets.”

Besides using recycled material and being 100 percent recyclable. SelecTech products employ a breakthrough interlocking technology. This technology removes the need for less than environmentally friendly adhesives while reducing the floor prep time needed to install or replace flooring. This saves another kind of green—money—by dramatically reducing installation times because old flooring can be left in place and machinery and furniture do not have to be completely moved or removed for installation or maintenance.

At Global Shop, SelecTech will have its FreeStyle flooring products on display. With a durable wear layer, FreeStyle products are built for the demanding requirements of a retail setting. The finished surface of FreeStyle is highly customizable, including custom colors, inset design, and digital printing, to give the exact look that a retailer wants for their display.

To learn more about SelecTech products, including FreeStyle flooring products, visit http://www.selectechinc.com. For information on Global Shop 2015, visit www.globalshop.org.

Dr. Richard Wolfert, AKA The Toothboss, caps military career

March 10, 2015 //  by admin

Weymouth Dentist Dr. Richard Wolfert, AKA The Toothboss, hands Scott Sallway his Smiling Neighbor Award. Dr. Wolfert was honored as the Smiling Neighbor for this quarter for his 30 years of military service. Dr. Wolfert retired at the end of February.

SOUTH WEYMOUTH, MA…

As part of Dr. Richard Wolfert’s practice, he recognizes local residents doing good deeds in the community—the Smiling Neighbor Award. For this quarter’s Smiling Neighbor, The Toothboss, the name of Wolfert’s practice, was on the receiving end of this honor as his staff recognized his 30 years of military service in the U.S. Navy and Army National Guard. Dr. Wolfert retired from the National Guard at the end of February.

“I’m not quite sure this award is supposed to work this way,” said Wolfert. “But I do appreciate the gesture. And I suppose 30 years in the military does meet our criteria for the Smiling Neighbor.

Dr. Wolfert joined the U.S. Navy while enrolled at Tufts School of Dental Medicine in 1978. It was during his tenure in the Navy that he earned the nickname that would become the name of his practice.

“I served on the U.S. Midway and the commander on the carrier called his department heads ‘boss’. For example, the guy who ran the flight deck was the ‘air boss’. As the dentist, I was the tooth boss,” said Wolfert. “By the time I left the Navy, joined the Guard and started my private practice, I’d grown used to the name and kept it for my business.”

Wolfert’s military career included a tour of duty in Iraq in 2004. Stationed a few miles from the front at a makeshift hospital, he compared the experience to being like the television show M*A*S*H, only in real life.

“There was that kind of camaraderie in our outfit, but I don’t think any of us ever forgot why we were there and how close we were to some really nasty stuff,” said Wolfert.

After his tour of Iraq, Wolfert chose to remain in the National Guard, where he has served as a mentor to young dentists and supervised care for the 7,000 soldiers in the Army National Guard Reserve in Massachusetts. At the end of February, Dr. Wolfert retired with the rank of Colonel.

“Many people have asked me over the years why did I join and why did I stay. The best explanation I have is that I come from a military family. My two older brothers served in Vietnam. I guess I felt it was my duty to serve. Once I got in, I found it agreed with me. It’s really as simple as that,” said Wolfert.

For being selected as the Smiling Neighbor, Dr. Wolfert opted to give his $50 gift card to Stockholders to a fellow veteran, battle buddy and Toothboss patient, Scott Sallaway. Scott served three tours of Iraq, including one with Wolfert in 2004.

“It may sound cliché, but the men and women who did not make it back from their tours of duty are the real heroes,” said Wolfert. “Me, I’m proud to have served in the company of such brave men and women.”

The Smiling Neighbor award is given out on a quarterly basis to citizens of Weymouth going above and beyond the call of duty for their fellow citizens. People can nominate a Smiling Neighbor by sending an e-mail of 200 words or less to toothboss1@aol.com. Please remember to include your name and telephone number as well as the name and telephone number or e-mail of the person they are nominating. Nominations can also be sent to The Toothboss, 1121 Main Street, South Weymouth, MA  02190.

For more information on The Toothboss, visit Dr. Wolfert’s website at www.toothboss.com or call 781-335-0604 to schedule a consultation.

John V. Carvalho, President & CEO, Apollo Safety

FALL RIVER, MASSACHUSETTS…

Apollo Safety, Inc. a veteran-owned, Fall River, Mass.-based company specializing in safety products and services, recently celebrated its 20th anniversary.

“I learned of the need within organizations like fire and rescue, manufacturers, public works, educational and institutional as well as life sciences for expert, timely comprehension about gas detection,” said John Carvalho, founder of Apollo Safety, Inc. along with his wife Tracy and Mike Medeiros back in February 1995. “So, I saw that as a niche that we could provide useful information and expertise. Safety professionals and facilities mangers quickly embraced our company and the services we provided. The rest, as they say, is history.”

Apollo Safety’s offerings include a wide variety of portable and stationary gas detection systems suitable for all detection, including name brands like Industrial Scientific, RAE Systems by Honeywell, RKI Instruments, MSA, Detcon, Scott and GMI. Apollo Safety also offers portable gas monitors for rental at weekly or monthly rates. Equipment is calibrated to NIST standards.

In addition, Apollo Safety provides on-site installation and training and 24/7 service. Apollo Safety technicians are factory-trained. Apollo also offers its own proprietary training program, with five levels of certification.

Over the years, the company has grown from its early beginnings in Carvalho’s garage to a business that employs 14 at its headquarters at 57 Walnut Street in Fall River, as well as in Boston and Connecticut.

“What I’ve liked about the business is that we came from nothing in the Fall River community and are now trusted by municipal, state and federal departments along with multi-national Fortune 500 companies. That goes to show you the American Dream is alive and well for hardworking, honest and industrious Americans,” said Carvalho. “I’m also proud of how Apollo has given back to the community, particularly veterans’ organizations.”

Apollo Safety recently donated to the Wounded Warrior project. The company also took part in the Fall River Area Chamber of Commerce’s pledge to interview two veterans by the end of 2014, and hired a Veteran from that initiative.

Litecontrol Corporation Donates to Old Colony Elder Services’ Emergency Fund

March 8, 2015 //  by admin

Diana DiGiorgi, Executive Director of OCES

Old Colony Elder Services (OCES), the Brockton based regional agency that serves older adults and individuals with disabilities, has recently received a $3,500 donation for their Emergency Fund from Litecontrol Corporation of Hanson and Plympton.

Litecontrol Corporation’s generous donation to the Emergency Fund will help provide funds for food, fuel, medication and other essentials to assist older adults and individuals with disabilities who are on a fixed income and in a crisis situation.

Every year, Litecontrol Corporation allocates funds to be donated to a local organization or cause that benefits the community.

OCES’ Emergency Fund has helped hundreds of low-income older adults and individuals with disabilities, throughout greater Brockton and Plymouth County, to remain in their homes over the years. Historically, the number of older adults and individuals with disabilities in need greatly increases during the winter months, when home heating costs rise as the temperature drops.

“We are very grateful to Litecontrol for their generous donation. Our Emergency Fund enables us to meet the needs of older adults and individuals with disabilities who are in crisis or emergency situations that threaten their health or living status, and cannot be addressed through the use of any other resource.  These needs include fuel assistance, utility bill payments, short-term emergency shelter, medical transportation, medications, hot water heaters, food and more,” noted Diana DiGiorgi, Executive Director of OCES.

About Litecontrol Corporation

For more than 75 years, Litecontrol has been the commercial lighting professional’s leading partner in design. From its early innovations in wall/slot lighting, to today’s advanced LED fixtures, Litecontrol remains committed to delivering the widest palette of tools and comprehensive services to maximize the power of lighting design and to minimize electric lighting’s environmental impact. Litecontrol has facilities in Hanson and Plympton, MA. For more information, visit http://www.litecontrol.com.
