Plymouth Solar Energy powers up new service. Batteries are here. You’ll never have a Power Outage again.

September 12, 2023 //  by admin

Homeowners now can install high-tech lithium storage batteries to power their home when the utility goes down.  Plymouth Solar Energy has expanded its resources and is now endorsed by the four leading battery manufacturers including Tesla, Briggs, and Stratton, Generac/PRW Cell and Sonnen.  The company has earned certificates for their most advanced systems.

Some battery owners report that they did not even know that the utility went down because the battery switched on seamlessly. In addition to the comfort and convenience, batteries are recognized for taxed credits.  Homeowners enjoy 30% tax credits for batteries and 30% tax credit for solar.

Owners may select time of day or periods of peak household usage and have storage contribute to the home at that time.  Those with solar can store energy during the day and power their home at night.  With or without solar, owners earn money if they allow the utility to tap their batteries when the grid is stressed.

Plymouth Solar Energy (PlymouthSolarEnergy.com ) is a regional leader in the installation and maintenance of commercial and residential solar and battery systems. The company boasts over 200 installed and on-line monitored solar systems within 50 miles of Plymouth.

Plymouth Solar Energy is located at 18 Main Street Extension, Plymouth, MA. There are now 10 full and part-time staffers at the growing entity.

For more info visit www.PlymouthSolarEnergy.com . For a complimentary Solar Feasibility Study or questions, call (508) 746-5430 or email info@plymouthsolarenergy.com.

Scituate resident and former Firefighter recognized for Random Act of Kindness and Sunny Disposition.

August 29, 2023 //  by admin

DATELINE: PLYMOUTH, MA…

Brian Poitras, a Scituate resident and a recent retiree of the Lowell Fire Department, once again did not hesitate when help was needed.

While visiting the Scituate Senior Center, Brian was chatting with acquaintance Anne Tucker Roberts.

Anne mentioned that she was concerned that during a hot and humid spell in July her air conditioner was not functioning.  Service companies were not responding to her telephone calls or were scheduling her out for several weeks. Anne and her 85-year-old husband, John, were not only uncomfortable, but at risk.

Out of the kindness of his heart, Brian ventured into his own basement, brought up a spare portable unit and installed it in the Roberts’ home.

“It is a story of what this country has lost. He has renewed my faith that people really DO care about others!” noted Anne.

Thus, Brian Poitras is the first to be recognized by the Sunny Disposition campaign sponsored by Plymouth Solar Energy.  In addition to recognition, Brian will receive a $50 gift certificate to Strega Café, one of Plymouth’s finer restaurants.

Know someone who has recently performed a random or intended act of kindness?

Could be something as simple as taking out the trash for an elderly neighbor.  Or helping with heavy lifting of a new couch.  Or sharing an extra plate of homemade brownies.

Plymouth Solar Energy is recognizing Sunny Disposition winners monthly.  The winner will receive dinner for two at one of Greater Plymouth’s leading restaurants and a spiffy pair of sunglasses.

Solar energy curious?  Seminar offers answers.

January 10, 2023 //  by admin

Solar Energy – The Financial Perspective.

Solar energy curious?  This is an opportunity to get objective, straight-forward answers.

Fred Paris of the Wind Sun Institute and owner of Plymouth Solar Energy is offering a free presentation and discussion of Commercial Solar Energy, with emphasis on financial models that consider tax credits and depreciation methods for 2023 projects. The free, public event is set for Thursday, January 26, 5:30 – 6:30 p.m. at the Jones River Landing, 51 Landing Road, Kingston MA.

The commercial solar energy market is stimulated with government tax credits, accelerated depreciation, and new methods for non-profit and municipal entities to receive cash in place of tax credits they cannot use.

As utilities upgrade the grid to accommodate commercial solar projects, the upgrades are focused on energy input to the grid rather than upgrading for additional electrical load. The customers installing solar of any significance pay the utility for these upgrades.

Topics will include –

• Key financial variables for commercial and residential solar

• Investment Tax Credits: who gets them it and how much

• 2023 Applying the 80% Bonus depreciation for Solar Investments

• Determining the IRS basis for 5-year solar

• Applying Accelerated Depreciation for 2023

• Understanding REC incentives and SMART payments

• Non-Profit strategies for financial incentives

“Show Us Your Electric Bill” –  Plymouth Solar Energy expands Commercial Division and offers Solar Feasibility Study.

Commercial Solar

November 17, 2022 //  by admin

Fred Paris, solar energy pioneer and a respected industry expert, is getting ready for an explosion of commercial solar energy projects. Paris’s company, Plymouth Solar Energy, based in Plymouth, MA, expanded their Commercial Solar team to include structural engineering.

“Renewable energy systems on commercial buildings require a full spectrum of resources,” Paris said. “The commercial team’s strengths now include electrical, solar, and construction expertise working together to design and install commercial solar.”

“We are entering a period where the rising cost of energy and declining cost of solar have shortened the payback period significantly,” Paris added. “And since commercial solar is always a financial decision, short payback for high-performance solar make these projects more viable than ever.”

High-performance solar is more than a marketing term, asserts Paris. He expanded, “Commercial buildings may have flat, pitched, metal or rubber roofing in various states of repair. In the past we would advise an owner to fix the roof, and we would return at a later date. This added months of setback and loss of project control. If the building is more than ten years old, the roof typically needs some work. Having these skills in-house is advantageous in both time and the quality of construction.”

Paris continued, “Having people that focus on commercial solar allows us to a complete turnkey package. For example, we might seal a metal roof project with a reflective silicone membrane – not just sealing the roof but offering both thermal and reflective attributes – increasing albedo (reflection) and lowering rooftop temperature. Lower temperatures and more light increase solar production and serve to cool the entire building.”

As electrical rates continue to climb, the payback period for commercial solar investment is getting shorter. With Federal solar tax credits up to 30% and, with 80% bonus depreciation in 2023, things are looking good for commercial solar.

As Owner of Plymouth Solar Energy and an educator/trainer, Paris founded the Wind Sun Institute to deliver certification training to solar energy installers. Paris taught solar energy in the US and Canada, and subsequently wrote solar courses for Massasoit Community College. While teaching Strategic Planning at Northeastern, Paris formed Plymouth Solar Energy, hiring and staffing the company with students from his solar energy courses.

Plymouth Solar Energy is offering a complimentary Solar Feasibility Study for commercial building owners and managers.  The objective and informational study includes a structural analysis of the building, utility bill analysis to determine current power usage, and irradiant roof analysis to measure the integrity to accommodate solar panels.

Plymouth Solar Energy is located at 18 Main Street Extension, Plymouth, MA 02360. For more info, visit www.PlymouthSolarEnergy.com . For a complimentary Solar Feasibility Study or questions, call (508) 746-5430 or email info@plymouthsolarenergy.com .
