The company will be doubling the number of licensed plumbing staff.

Winters Home Services is currently hiring licensed plumbing apprentices and journeyman plumbers to work with their master plumbers serving residents throughout the greater Boston area.

Winters Home Services Offers Tips for Better Air Quality in the Home

DSC06078 smallAsthma rates in Massachusetts are among the highest in the nation.  Pollen and other allergens are triggers for residents suffering from allergies and asthma.

Tim Flynn of Winters Home Services, providers of plumbing, heating, cooling and air quality services to residents throughout the greater Boston area, offers helpful tips for reducing allergens and improving overall indoor air quality.

According to Flynn, “Indoor and outdoor irritants can trigger an allergic or asthmatic reaction. Outdoor triggers include tree, grass and weed pollen, vehicle exhaust, wood smoke, and fumes. Indoor triggers include pollen entering the home from open windows, secondhand smoke, dust mites, mold, chemicals, cockroaches and other pests.”

Steps to take to reduce irritants include cleaning surfaces weekly with a damp cloth, vacuuming with a HEPA filter, keeping humidity low, and controlling pests.

It’s imperative that homeowners also address any water leaks, which can lead to mold growth. Replacing air filters and ensuring routine maintenance and repair of air conditioning units is key. Michael Carroll Named Office Manager at Winters Company Plumbing, Heating & Cooling

Michael Carroll, a Gloucester resident, has been named Office Manager at Winters Company Plumbing, Heating & Cooling of Cambridge.

Carroll, who joined Winters Company in October of 2008, has been promoted to Office Manager. He started his career with Winters as a Customer Service Representative and worked his way up to Service Manager and then Call Center Manager before becoming the Office Manager. In his new role, Carroll will oversee office operations, accounts receivable, dispatch management, customer service and inside sales management. He’ll also be responsible for all sales and service reporting. Carroll has been trained in “The Winters Way” as well as at the Nexstar CSR/DSR and Service Systems programs.

Previous to Winters, Carroll was employed at Ski Market, the specialty sporting goods store, for seven years. Carroll served as Ski Market’s General Manager in Woburn MA and previous to that, he was the General Manager of Nashua and Manchester NH stores. Prior to that, he was the Assistant Manager in the Danvers store. Carroll won a number National and regional sales awards of awards.

Carroll graduated from Christian Brothers Academy high school in Albany, NY which participates in U.S. Army’s JROTC program. He holds an Associate in Applied Science in Business Administration from Hudson Valley Community College in Troy, NY and a Bachelor of Science degree with a concentration in finance from the College of Saint Rose in Albany, NY.

He is a native of Albany, NY.

Keith Mercurio Named Sales Manager at Winters Company Plumbing, Heating & Cooling

Keith Mercurio, a Belmont resident, has been named Sales Manager at Winters Company Plumbing, Heating & Cooling of Cambridge.

Mercurio has been promoted to Sales Manager after working as an apprentice, technician and licensed plumber at Winter Company for almost seven years. Mercurio was the first in the company to go from “green” apprentice to licensed plumber through Winter’s training facility and receive plumbing certification with the state.

In his new position, Mercurio will be responsible for bidding, selling and assigning jobs to Winters’ plumbers and technicians. He will also be responsible for training all new technicians. Mercurio was recently selected by Nexstar, the independent residential service contractors association, to become one of their 12 member trainers, which is the highest level a trainer can reach in the country. Mercurio just returned from a four-day Nexstar training session in South Carolina where he trained a group in a number of disciplines.

Mercurio majored in political science and philosophy at St. Michael’s College in Vermont. In 2006, when he was a 24-year-old technician at Winters, Mercurio ran as the Republican candidate for Massachusetts State Representative of the 29th Middlesex District.

“Over the years I have received a lot of support from Winters Company that extends beyond the goals of the company. Tim Flynn and the Winters team supported me when I ran for State Rep and when I became involved with Nexstar training. Winters Company is simply one of the best companies to work for,” noted Mercurio.

Outside of Winters Company, Mercurio has volunteered at Big Brother in Boston for more than three years. He has also spearheaded a number of volunteer plumbing initiatives to help veterans.

He is a native of Watertown, MA.

A heating, cooling or plumbing emergency is never something you want to experience, but it can happen when you least expect it. Winters Company Plumbing, Heating & Cooling has recently announced Heating, Cooling and Plumbing Service Partner programs which include annual tune-ups and maintenance to help ensure that those emergencies don’t happen.

Many homeowners aren’t aware that regularly scheduled service can reduce breakdowns by as much as 95 percent and lower utility bills by as much as 30 percent. In an effort to keep homeowners’ heating, cooling and plumbing systems in tip-top shape, Winters Company Plumbing, Heating & Cooling, providers of plumbing and home services to thousands of residents throughout eastern Massachusetts, offers Service Partner programs with benefits that include:

Annual high-performance tune-up and maintenance at no cost.

A 15 percent discount on program-related work.

Tune-up reminders. Winters contacts homeowners to schedule tune-ups, so there’s one less thing for homeowners to worry about.

Priority service scheduling.

Transferable service partner agreement. If a homeowner moves to a new home, the agreement may be transferred to the new property or to the buyer of the property that has just sold.

Homeowners have three Service Partner options.
