Worth the weight. Lapels Dry Cleaning’s annual clothing drive to benefit Big Brother Big Sister raises more than 13,000 pounds of clothing

HANOVER, MA…

In terms of fundraising efforts, Lapels Dry Cleaning’s Annual Clothing Drive to benefit Big Brother Big Sister carried its weight—figuratively and literally. This year’s drive generated 13,180 pounds, about the equivalent of more than $13,000. The 13,108 represents an all-time high for the annual drive, which, ironically, Lapels Dry Cleaning has been conducting for the past 13 years.

Held from May 7 to May 22, Lapels Dry Cleaning stores in six states– Arizona, Connecticut, Louisiana, Massachusetts, Missouri, and New Jersey—collected clothing from Lapels customers and the general public. The clothing will be sold at Big Brother Big Sister-affiliated thrift shops in those respective states. The sales of those items will go to fund mentoring programs for young girls and boys in those states.

“I guess 13 is our lucky number. We have conducted the Big Brother Big Sister Clothing Drive for 13 years now and we raised more tha $13,000! Each year this drive gets bigger and bigger,” said Kevin Dubois, CEO of Lapels Dry Cleaning. “We could not have done this without the support of the customers and the communities we serve.”

The “13” theme continues with the clothing drive leaders–Lapels Dry Cleaning of Cohasset and Lapels Dry Cleaning of Boston at 621 Tremont Street. Each generated 1,380 pounds of clothing to tie for most donations. Lapels Dry Cleaning of Cohasset was the top generator in 2015 and Lapels Dry Cleaning of Boston took the lead in 2014.

“The amount raised by our Massachusetts stores, 10,878, is very impressive,” said Dubois. “What’s even more impressive is how states like New Jersey (1,037 pounds) and Arizona (575 pounds) with only a few stores generated so many donations.”

“We would like to thank Lapels Dry Cleaning and its franchise owners for once again coming through with a record-breaking fundraiser,” said Steve Beck, of The Big Brother Big Sister Foundation. “I know people associate Lapels Dry Cleaning with being environmentally friendly. Based on the annual success of this clothing drive, I’d have to say they are pretty friendly to the local community as well.”

A University of Florida grad, Ferrer was a manager for Home Depot prior to opening Lapels Dry Cleaning of Tampa.

“We were looking for a business franchise that had similar values and standards as Home Depot,” said Ferrer, who will run Lapels with his wife Gabriella. “Lapels met that criteria and the environmental angle and sustainability factor really made this an easy decision for us.”

Their environmentally-friendly cleaning process has no odor and is gentler on clothes, thus lengthening the life of clothes.

Lapels Dry Cleaning also sets itself apart with its customer service. Lapels customers are greeted to a warm and inviting reception area, with friendly customer service representatives, and alteration services.

Lapels offers it’s customers Automatic Rewards earning them credit towards free dry cleaning for every dollar they spend, Loyalty Programs, a VIP Program which eliminates the need to wait in line, the use of a 24 Hour Drop Off Service and FREE Home Delivery to all its customers. Lapels Dry Cleaning kicks off annual clothing drive to benefit Big Brother/Big Sister on May 7.

Lapels Dry Cleaning’s drive to benefit Big Brother/Big Sister begins May 7

HANOVER, MA …

Lapels Dry Cleaning will host their clothing drive to benefit Big Brother/Big Sister organizations starting May 7 and running through May 22. Lapels Dry Cleaning stores in Arizona, Connecticut, Louisiana, Massachusetts, Missouri, and New Jersey will be accepting clothing donations during this time period.

“Lapels customers have always been very generous in donating clothing to our drive to benefit Big Brother/Big Sister. Last year was our best year ever as we collected more than 11,000 pounds of clothing—that’s the equivalent of $11,000,” said Kevin Dubois, CEO of Lapels Dry Cleaning. “Clearly, we are very grateful to everyone who donates to this drive. Still, in our fourth year, it would be nice to push beyond 11,000 pounds and break 12,000 for a very worthy cause.”

Lapels customers and the general public are welcome to donate any gently used clothing items, including:  Men’s, Women’s and Children’s clothing, coats, jackets, shoes (any season or size). Household items such as linens, sheets, blankets, towels, drapes, comforters, afghans, curtains, fabric and purses are also accepted.

Clothes collected by Lapels Dry Cleaning will be donated to Big Brother/Big Sister and in turn will then be sold by high-end thrift stores. The net proceeds from those sales are donated to Big Brother/Big Sister mentoring programs for young girls and boys.

“Our annual clothing drive is something our customers look forward to because it kills two birds with one stone. On one hand, they get to help a very worthy cause raise money without it costing a dime out of their pocket. On the other hand, they’re removing unwanted items from their home. It’s the proverbial win-win,” said Dubois.

Fast Casual Dining Franchise is Expanding – Between Rounds Announces Franchise Opportunities

February 23, 2016 //  by admin

Between Rounds 1 exteriorConsidering a career move? For anyone looking to begin a new chapter as a business owner in the fast casual dining segment – the fastest growing segment in the restaurant industry – Between Rounds Bakery Sandwich Café is now offering two different franchise opportunities.

With locations in South Windsor, Vernon, Manchester and Tolland, Between Rounds fast casual dining establishments have become the area’s favorite locale for fresh, baked-on site bagels and healthier, freshly prepared, high quality meals served in a clean, comfortable, upscale environment.

Two types of franchise opportunities are available: a Kiosk Gas Station/Convenience Market program and an Area Developer Program.

The Kiosk Gas Station/Convenience Market franchise is a non-traditional convenience store/gas station model that offers gas station customers the ability to purchase Between Rounds specialty coffee, fresh made breakfast and lunch sandwiches, fresh baked bagels and assorted bakery items from a clean, well-designed store adjacent to the filling station. The kiosk store has low start-up costs and requires an overall investment of approximately $120K for a standard store with no drive-thru.

The Area Developer Program is unique in its franchise offering, as it encompasses the operation of three retail bakery sandwich café locations as well as a manufacturing commissary in a protected territory. This development strategy allows the franchisee to maximize efficiencies in labor, food, and energy costs while providing a solid investment return.

Off to a Successful Start

Between Rounds helps franchisees start off successfully with site location, construction assistance and extensive staff training prior to opening and after the launch. Every detail regarding safe, clean and successful food service is reviewed and demonstrated. Between Rounds corporate ensures there are field representatives on hand to work with your staff, and once the store is operating smoothly, they continue to offer organizational support and guidelines for successful programs.

According to Between Rounds  co-founder and franchisor, Jerry Puiia, “Fast Casual Dining is the fastest growing segment in the restaurant industry. We are always looking out for new franchise locations and the right people to run it. It’s an ideal time for franchisees in the fast casual market.”

Between Rounds is family owned and operated in Connecticut since 1990. Unlike their competitors that require high initial investment and multiple franchises, the Between Rounds Kiosk Gas Station/Convenience Market opportunity is a reasonable initial investment with no minimum number of franchises required. The company has also secured three financing companies, Benetrends, FranchiseLeasing.com and The Stratford Group, to help new franchisees with financing of KioskGas Station/Convenience Marketoperations.

Puiia continued, “A Between Rounds franchise offers the appeal of a locally-owned, community gathering place; the quality of freshly made bagels and other baked goods, sandwiches, wraps, soups, salads, and specialty coffees; and excellent unit financial performance and wholesale distribution opportunities.”
