Boston’s Action Bearing Announces Dedicated Power Generation Division

April 23, 2011 //  by admin

Action Bearing’s Power Generation clients include Coal and Gas fired Electric utilities. Rick Piracini, Marketing Specialist and industry expert at Action Bearing, oversees this new division and assists clients in determining which bearing technologies would be most suitable by taking into consideration the specifications, recommendations, maintenance strategies, fatigue life and wear resistance of the bearing in relation to the application.

Power generation requires uninterrupted bearing service. Action’s 24/7 service and inventory are critical to the operations of utility clients. The ball and roller bearings for the pumps, compressors, electric motors and drives must meet critical internal clearances, cage designs and Abec precision class. The company offers a special solution to utilities – the Craft Split Roller block which allows for rapid replacement, and ultimately saves on downtime and costs. Action Bearing also recommends high end lubricants such as Kluber or Lubriplate for critical locations to better match lubricant service life to bearing B 10 life ratings. Both Inch and Metric shaft variations are available for next day delivery.

Failure Analysis

As part of their customer care, Action Bearing’s industry experts provide clients with the unique service of “Bearing Failure Analysis” which helps them determine the cause of bearing failure so that they may prevent future failure and predict reliability. Or, if clients desire to do so, they can utilize the Bearing Failure Analysis program within the Technical Toolbox on the Action Bearing website.

Traditional Dating Service, eLove Matchmaking, Shines in Background Checks & Profile Authentication

April 22, 2011 //  by admin

Recently, Match.com announced they are going to start screening new members against the national sex offender registry in response to a lawsuit brought by a woman who says she was attacked by a man who had been charged with sex crimes.

Paul A. Falzone, CEO of eLove Matchmaking, one of the world’s largest matchmaking services weighs in, “Most people who elect to use online dating services do understand that there is inherent risk to it. Screening new members against the national sex offender registry may give a false sense of security.”

He continued, “Profile authentication is a challenge for internet dating sites as there is no way to confirm that a person is who he/she claims to be and that they do not have a criminal record. Positive identification and full criminal background checks – as opposed to the one element of a simple screening against the national sex offender registry – are most effectively utilized by traditional ‘brick and mortar’ dating services such as eLove Matchmaking where our matchmakers meet every new member in person. The human element is necessary for member authentication.”

eLove Matchmaking is the fastest growing matchmaking firm in the country with over 50 matchmaking offices nationwide and home offices in Norwell, MA and Los Angeles, CA. eLove Matchmaking goes beyond simple screening for sex offenders. The company has been conducting mandatory criminal background checks for over a decade and, because they meet each and every member, require positive identification and get to know their members, they are better able to authenticate member profiles. Those who don’t pass the checks aren’t granted membership.

Falzone continued, “Conducting screenings of new members against the national sex offender registry could actually create a false sense of security for online dating site members as a criminal may easily use a false name or identity to circumvent the system. Technically, the information on the sexual offender registry is public and anyone can visit the sex offender registry website in any state and cross reference it themselves.

Sex offenders are only part of the criminal population. To weed out assault and battery offenders, thieves and others, a criminal background check is necessary.”

eLove Matchmaking’s professional matchmakers meet one-on-one with every potential member and conduct a thorough background check, which includes screening against the national sexual offender registry as well as screening to determine if they have committed other crimes or are claiming to be single when they are indeed married. They also require positive I.D.

“It’s important to note that no system is 100 percent foolproof, mainly because there are sex offenders and other criminals out there who haven’t been caught and therefore don’t have a record. Even with systems in place, there is still a risk and people should take safety precautions. That being said, traditional matchmaking services such as eLove Matchmaking, offer the highest level of profile authentication available,” noted Falzone.

Benefits of eLove Matchmaking

eLove Matchmaking was developed and designed by industry professionals with decades of combined experience in making happy successful couples. With 52 matchmaking offices in 23 states, eLove is everything that singles have been wishing for when seeking a serious, committed relationship.

Additional benefits of eLove Matchmaking include:

Private Profile – Not everyone is comfortable with putting their photo online and revealing their intimate details on the internet for the world to see. Through eLove Matchmaking, member profiles are not made public to the Internet. Privacy is of the utmost importance and enforced with a confidentiality agreement.

Safety – All eLove Matchmaking members are pre-screened and must undergo a mandatory criminal background and I.D. check. eLove Matchmaking reserves the right to terminate a membership for behavior unbecoming of a lady or a gentleman.

Personalization – eLove matchmakers get to know their members. Member information is not simply run through a computer system and matched up by demographic data, but through a combination of science, intuition, experience and insight. A matchmaker selects matches that offer the maximum chance of success. No matter how good a technology is, quality matchmaking is and always will be a subjective matter.

eLove’s Matchmaking Service offices are located in: Arkansas (Bentonville, Fort Smith, Little Rock); California (Los Angeles, Palo Alto, Sacramento, Walnut Creek, San Diego, Santa Rosa, Westlake); Connecticut (Glastonbury, Stamford); Illinois (Chicago, Downers Grove, Normal, Schaumburg, Rockford); Indiana (Carmel, Ft. Wayne); Kansas (Overland Park, Wichita); Maryland (Columbia, Frederick); Massachusetts (Newton, Norwell, Shrewsbury, Woburn); Michigan (Bingham Farms);Minnesota (Edina); Missouri (Springfield, St. Louis); Nebraska (Lincoln, Omaha); New Jersey (Iselin, Saddle Brook); Nevada (Las Vegas); Ohio (Cincinnati); Oklahoma (Oklahoma City, Tulsa); Pennsylvania (Mechanicsburg, Philadelphia); Rhode Island (Warwick); South Carolina (Greenville); Tennessee (Memphis, Franklin); Texas (Austin, San Antonio); Virginia (Falls Church, Richmond); Wisconsin (Appleton, Elm Grove, Madison).

Green on the go. Maine-based Haley’s Tire shreds used tires and goes green to keep Mainers rolling.

April 19, 2011 //  by admin

BIDDEFORD, BANGOR, AUGUSTA AND FALMOUTH, ME…

Besides showers, taxes and the start of another baseball season, April means celebrating Earth Day. With the celebration of Earth Day, many people make a more concerted effort to try to be more environmentally friendly and start recycling more. For Haley’s Tire and Service Centers, a third-generation tire retailer and service center, recycling is a 365/24/7 activity.

At each of its four locations—Biddeford, Bangor, Augusta and Falmouth—Haley’s Tire engages in a broad range of recycling activities, most notably tire recycling. Old tires from Haley’s are shredded and then mixed with asphalt to create a rubberized asphalt product. This not only helps reduce the cost and environmental impact of disposing of these tires, but offsets the cost in creating asphalt for roadway projects and repairs.

“There’s no denying the impact cars have on the environment. It’s not that people want to harm the environment but they also have to get to work, school, stores and other places,” said Tim Haley, owner of Haley’s Tire. “As people who earn our living servicing automobiles, it is incumbent on us to do everything we can to mitigate the impact cars and trucks have.”

Some of the other recycling efforts that Haley’s participates in include:

  • Recycling anti-freeze – Haley’s takes the anti-freeze taken from vehicles through service repairs and, after the antifreeze has been processed on-site, reuses.
  • Re- using motor oil – All four Haley’s Tire locations are heated via waste oil furnaces. This enables Haley’s to heat their shops with the oil emptied during oil changes. That removes the costs and environmental impacts of disposing of used oil.
  • Battery exchange – Haley’s also participates in a battery exchange program. Old batteries are not disposed of at a landfill, but properly recycled.

“We sell national tire products like Goodyear, Kelly Tires and others, but when you get right down to it, we’re a Maine company. My family has been here for years, as have families of many of our staff members,” said Haley. “The bottom line is that we care very much about the environmental health of the communities that we serve. That’s why we take on these recycling initiatives year round and we’ll continue to look for more ways to operate in a more environmentally friendly manner.”

For more information about Haley’s Tire, including store locations and directions, please visit www.haleystire.com .

“Mayors for Meals Day” a Success

April 18, 2011 //  by admin

Each year, Old Colony Elder Services, an elder services agency providing supportive resources to seniors living in greater Plymouth county and the Brockton area, participates in the National March for Meals Campaign, sponsored by the Meals on Wheels Association of America (MOWAA) through a special component known as “Mayors for Meals Day”.

This year, Mathew J. Muratore, Selectman in Plymouth, Constance DiLego, Plymouth Council on Aging Director and Tim Valentine, Assistant Executive Director of Old Colony Elder Services delivered noontime meals for the nutrition site at the Plymouth Council on Aging.

“We have many seniors who are unable to get to the grocery store or to one of our congregate meal sites. The Meals On Wheels program is absolutely essential to them as they would otherwise not get a nutritious daily meal,” noted OCES Executive Director Diana DiGiorgi.

The Meals On Wheels program serves residents age 60 and over, as well as disabled residents under 60. Both the Meals On Wheels program and the congregate meal sites rely on help from volunteers.
