South Shore Skin Center Relocates to Brand New Medical Building at One Scobee Circle

South Shore Skin Center, one of the most progressive dermatology practices in Massachusetts with offices in Cohasset and Plymouth, has recently moved their Plymouth practice from 45 Resnik Road to the newly constructed 20,000 square-foot medical building on 1.38 acres at One Scobee Circle.
South Shore Skin Center now occupies the entire 6,600 square-foot third floor of the new three-story building at Scobee Circle that is situated on the corner of Resnik Road. RHCI-Plymouth Outpatient Rehabilitation Center (the Rehabilitation Hospital of the Cape and Islands) resides on the first floor and E. Morgan Scheiber. DMD PC and Associates occupies a 3,200 square-foot medical condo on the building’s second floor.
South Shore Skin Center had outgrown their eight room, 2,600 square-foot Resnik Road location, which influenced their decision to purchase the space at One Scobee Circle and increase their practice’s footprint to almost three times the size of their previous office. The practice now features a large reception area, 12 surgical/medical exam rooms, a clinical and outpatient area as well as business and practitioner offices. The new space has also enabled South Shore Skin Center to launch their full cosmetic spa, which boasts four plush treatment rooms expressly for facials, anti-aging treatments, laser treatments, Thermage and cosmetic procedures.
Caring for thousands of patients south of Boston, South Shore Skin Center was founded by Dr. Richard Eisen in 1988 and has grown significantly over the years. The practice has a staff of 25 with three other physicians: Dr. Ramzi Saad, Dr. Katherine Ayers and Dr. William Stocker, as well as three physician assistants, three cosmetic nurse specialists, three estheticians and 12 other staff members.
“We’re very excited about our new office because it will enable us to really expand upon the services that we already offer and better serve a greater number of patients in Southeastern Massachusetts and the Cape area. We will add another physician over the next month as our practice continues to grow,” noted Dr. Eisen.
The building’s developer was Alpines, LLC of Plymouth and construction was done by Coastal Restorations, also of Plymouth. The modern, energy efficient building features radiant heat and solar panels provided by Alternate Energy of Plymouth. South Shore Skin Center’s reception area features an energy monitor which shows how much energy the solar panels produce every day.
Conveniently located off Route 44, One Scobee Circle offers free parking for 106. To learn more about South Shore Skin Center, visit www.southshoreskincenter.com.

South Shore Skin Center Offers Anti-Aging Tips for Mother of the Bride
A daughter’s wedding is cause to celebrate. But, many mothers of the bride experience mixed emotions about the event, which can range from excitement over the upcoming nuptials to disbelief at the fact that they are old enough to have a grown daughter. One thing all mothers of the bride have in common is that they want to look their best on their daughter’s wedding day.
Although most mothers know that dressing too dowdy for their daughter’s wedding will only age them, few mothers realize that the condition of their skin can make them look older than their age as well. Dry skin, fine lines and wrinkles may be evident as a result of accumulated sun exposure and the loss of elasticity that comes with aging.
In light of this, South Shore Skin Center’s dermatologists offer skin care tips and anti-aging and cosmetic treatment options to help moms look their personal best on their daughter’s big day:
Protect and Moisturize. Take care of your skin by protecting it from UVA/UVB exposure every day with a sunscreen with an SPF of 15+. Dry skin can increase the appearance of lines, so be sure to moisturize every day. Vitamin C applied topically every day will also nourish and help to improve the skin’s appearance.
Retin-A or Avage used at night can help reverse sun damage and decrease future sun damage.
Illuminize Peel enhances the skin’s appearance, clarity, color and texture. Made from a new generation of alpha-hydroxy acids, the Illuminize Peel is ideal for skin with photodamage, fine lines and wrinkles or pigmentation irregularities. It tightens skin for a more youthful appearance and minimizes the damaging effects from sun, aging and certain skin conditions.
Microdermabrasion rejuvenates the top layers of the skin to create a brighter, smoother appearance. Treatments may be done every six to eight weeks.
Botox may be used to treat lines around the eyes, frown lines between the eyes, and lines on the forehead that often appear with age. Botox works by relaxing the muscles that contract to form these lines, creating a smoother appearance in the treated areas. The effects last up to five months.
Wrinkle Fillers such as Restylane and Sculptra will last three to 12 months and will help to “plump” areas and reduce the appearance of deep lines and facial folds.
Fraxel re:pair and Fraxel re:store use the technology of a fractionated laser beam to ablate the tissue deep within the dermis to improve your skin’s appearance. Fraxel re:pair is designed to target aging and damaged skin, stimulating the body’s natural production of new collagen and skin cells. It is ideal for resurfacing soft tissues; improving pigmentation; eliminating redness and broken blood vessels and smoothing wrinkles or (“crow’s feet) around the eyes. Fraxel re:store is best for general resurfacing on the face, neck, chest and hands. It effectively treats a number of skin conditions and also reduces the appearance of acne scarring and surgical scars. Fraxel should be done at least three to six months prior to the wedding and it will last several years.
Lasers such as Thermage and IPL will effectively treat acne and acne scarring, brown and age spots and broken blood vessels. These lasers are also used to remove tattoos and eliminate spider veins.
“Taking care of your skin every day is the key to maintaining skin health. There are a number of affordable anti-aging and cosmetic treatments available that will reduce the appearance of lines and wrinkles and get rid of age spots or other blemishes. We advise mothers to talk to their dermatologist and learn more about their skin care and treatment options well in advance of their daughter’s wedding day,” noted Dr. Richard Eisen, dermatologist and founder of South Shore Skin Center.

Older job seeker gets early holiday gift – a Makeover from South Shore providers
When it comes to finding a new job after 50, times have changed. Stellar credentials and years of experience get you so far in the job market. Competition with younger counterparts is tough and it takes more than great networking to land a job.
Many older job seekers are looking to “level the playing field” with their younger competitors and one of the ways they are doing so is by re-inventing themselves.
South Shore Skin Center of Plymouth and Cohasset collaborated with the Center for Progressive Dentistry of Duxbury; Eclipxe Hair Salon of Norwell, Holly Kouvo of Fitting Fitness In of Stow, MA and Coach DQ, Dawn Quesnel, a career life coach and host of Career Life Balance Radio, and held a Makeover Contest for women and men over 50 who had been downsized.
Carol Hedman, 63, of Cohasset has been selected as the winner of the Makeover Contest. Ms. Hedman had been working for a medical provider and held a second job with a dental provider and was downsized from both South Shore companies. After looking for work for several months, she thought she was about to receive a job offer from a Boston firm. Unfortunately, another applicant, who is 30 years her junior, got the job. Ms. Hedman then decided to enter the contest.
As the contest winner, Ms. Hedman will receive:
· A Cosmetic Dermatology Treatment
· Teeth Whitening
· New Haircut/Style
· A Fitness Consultation
· Career and Life Coaching Services
According to Ms. Hedman, “Feeling good about your appearance makes you confident and that’s important. I’m very excited about my makeover. I’m setting the foundation of what’s ahead…This next chapter and what’s to come.”
The Makeover Contest was held based on the success of a previous makeover on Scituate resident Dave Flanagan, 54. Mr. Flanagan underwent a full makeover which included Botox Cosmetic treatments to smooth forehead wrinkles and Sculptra for the deep lines around his mouth. He had his teeth whitened and an updated haircut. He also met with a Fitness Trainer who educated him about how fitness and nutrition would keep him at the top of his game, and a Career Life Coach to help him obtain his goals. The makeover worked and shortly after, Dave was happy to report he was back at work.
Dave’s success inspired South Shore Skin Center to hold a Makeover Contest to help other seniors who may have been faced with “ageism” in the job market.

South Shore Skin Center Dermatologists Share Insight on Foods that are Good for the Skin
The adage “beauty comes from within” doesn’t just apply to the beauty of the soul…The beauty of your skin comes from within – and what you’ve been eating. The dermatologists at South Shore Skin Center know that beautiful skin depends on a number of factors and diet plays a significant part in your skin’s health and beauty.
South Shore Skin Center practitioners share their insight on various foods that may (and those that may not) help you maintain beautiful skin:
· Foods that are rich in antioxidants, such as fruits and vegetables are highly beneficial to the skin.
· Dairy is not beneficial to the skin, but it’s not bad for it either. There has been some controversy about dairy causing acne, but the doctors at South Shore Skin Center maintain that dairy does not cause acne.
· Whole grains that are low-fat are good for the skin. Bear in mind that grains such as flaxseed are better absorbed by the body if they are ground into meal before eating them. Adding at least one teaspoon of ground flaxseed to your diet per day is sufficient.
· Good hydration is good for the skin. Beware of drinking beverages containing caffeine, which is a diuretic. Drinking a lot of caffeinated beverages is not recommended because caffeine in large amounts will have a dehydrating effect. Drinking water is best for hydration.
· Try to eat foods that are rich in Omega 3s, which are essential fatty acids and benefit all organs. A typical diet that includes soybean oil has a much higher ratio of Omega 6, which actually blocks Omega 3 absorption. It’s better to eat foods made with olive or canola oil as these have a low ratio of Omega 6 and will not block the absorption of Omega 3s.
“When it comes to the health and beauty of the skin, the foods that we eat really do play an important part,” noted Dr. Richard Eisen, a board certified dermatologist and founder of South Shore Skin Center.
