Between Rounds Bakery Sandwich Café announces franchise opportunity

October 9, 2014 //  by admin

betweenrounds logo 1The restaurant industry is the most-franchised industry, consistently leading in overall job creation, according to Franchisedirect.com. The Food Franchise Industry Report 2014 reported that the bakery café segment is a major player in the food industry.

Between Rounds Bakery Sandwich Café, the unique bakery café and bagel shop with locations throughout Connecticut, offers traditional store and kiosk franchise opportunities to restaurant managers, bakers and others who wish to command their own destiny. In fact, the Between Rounds opportunity is the next likely step for restaurant managers and bakers who have been working in the industry for a number of years because they have the focus and expertise. Plus, the hours working in a fast casual café franchise such as Between Rounds are better.

“Nowadays, consumers are looking for fresh, healthy and nutritious meal options in a quick serve atmosphere, which makes bakery cafés extremely popular and a solid business investment,” explained Jerry Puiia, co-owner of the Between Rounds Bakery Café franchise.

He continued, “Restaurant managers and bakers are already ‘hands on’ in the industry and well-aware of what it takes to successfully operate a bakery café. The next logical step for them is shop ownership. Between Rounds offers brand recognition, proven operations and plenty of training and support which, coupled with the knowledge and experience they already have, is a recipe for success.”

The family-owned Between Rounds Bakery Sandwich Café, has been in business for more than two decades and is the brainchild of brothers Jerry and Joe Puiia, who are Staten Island, NY natives.  Between Rounds’ current locations include South Windsor (corporate headquarters), Vernon, Manchester and Tolland. Between Rounds franchise options include a traditional store opportunity and a Kiosk program. Between Rounds’ kiosk store program is a non-traditional convenience store/gas station model that offers customers the ability to purchase Between Rounds specialty coffee, fresh made breakfast and lunch sandwiches, fresh baked bagels and assorted bakery items from a clean, well-designed store (drive-thru window is optional) adjacent to the filling station. The kiosk store has low start-up costs and requires an overall investment of approximately $120K for a standard store with no drive-thru.

location imageBetween Rounds Bakery Sandwich Café , the unique bakery café and bagel shop with locations throughout Connecticut announces the creation of free Bagel Land coloring pages for kids.

Between Rounds has teamed up with Boston artist and Massachusetts College of Art alumnus Abraham Dubin to create unique seasonal coloring pages of scenes in “Bagel Land”, which will be available for download from the Between Rounds “Fun Stuff” page of the website, betweenroundsbagels.com, starting September 1st.

Children will be able to present their completed Bagel Land coloring page to the counter assistant at any Between Rounds location for display in the store along with a complimentary bagel with cream cheese or peanut butter for their efforts.

“If you’ve ever watched children color, you’ll notice that they are very deliberate about selecting the ‘right’ color crayon or marker and coloring within the lines,” noted Jerry Puiia, co-owner of Between Rounds franchise. “It’s very meaningful to them. Instead of hanging it on their home’s refrigerator, they can bring it in and we’ll hang it up for everyone’s enjoyment.”

Between Rounds Bakery Sandwich Café Expands Beverage Menu

April 7, 2014 //  by admin

betweenrounds logo 1Between Rounds, a unique bakery sandwich café and bagel shop with locations throughout Connecticut recently announced the addition of Fresh Brewed Iced Teas to their product line to meet growing consumer demand.

Between Rounds’ tea offerings, which include regular, decaf and herbal hot teas along with both hot and iced Chai tea, has been expanded to include Fresh Brewed Lipton Iced Teas. This unique line includes refreshing and “punchy” flavors such as Blackberry Sangria Tea (which is blackberry and pomegranate), Red Berry Tea (strawberry and pomegranate), Black Pearl (blackberry) and Strawberry Tea (strawberry). Each is garnished with a floating lemon ring.

Tea has become increasingly popular due to its powerful antioxidants and lower levels of caffeine. According to the Tea Association of the USA, more than half of the country’s population drinks tea and around 85 percent of the tea that is consumed is iced.

According to Between Rounds founder Jerry Puiia, “For many of us, iced or hot tea is a daily staple. Black, green and specialty tea consumption has increased exponentially over the past few years, and there is a significant demand for iced tea while dining out, to the extent that it now rivals specialty coffee sales.”

Unique Bagels & Sandwiches

Customer favorites to accompany Between Rounds’ Fresh Brewed Iced Tea include the “Morning Rounder” made with the best bagels found on the Eastern Seaboard; the unique Portobello Mushroom and Mozzarella Panini; and the customized wrap made with a quarter pound of the best Boar’s Head brand deli meats and cheeses complete with crave-worthy toppings.

Franchise Operations Performance Summit (OPS), the only franchise executive conference dedicated to operations performance excellence, announced for May 2-3 in Boston.

February 19, 2013 //  by admin

Evan Hackel
Evan Hackel of Ingage Consulting

WOBURN and BOSTON, MA…

For centuries, Boston has knack for drawing the best and brightest minds. Take for example, the City’s universities and medical institutions. On May 2-3, some of the best and brightest minds in the area of franchise operations will convene in at the Sheraton Boston Hotel in Boston’s Back Bay for the Franchise Operations Performance Summit (OPS), the only franchise conference dedicated to operations performance excellence, to contemplate the role of future franchise field consultants and other franchise operations issues.

“You think of Boston, you think history. But what distinguished people like Sam and John Adams, John Hancock and others noteworthy was their ability to look towards the future and envision a new country,” said Evan Hackel, a speaker at Franchise OPS and founder of Ingage Consulting, the leader in improving performance through engagement. “With this OPS we’re looking at the very critical role of franchise field consultant and exploring how technology can enhance this critical component of the franchise operations system. Is it revolutionary like the old colonists? Maybe, maybe not. But technology will dramatically change the types of skill sets required to do the job of field consultant in the future.”

Topics to be covered over the two days of workshops include:

  • Technology for Field Consultants
  • Benchmarking
  • The Field Consultant of the Future
  • Better Onboarding
  • FDD Item 19 – How to Do It Right

Covering this material will be a diverse roster of franchise experts, which features Hackel and Bob Gappa, founder of Management 2000. Over the course of his career, Hackel has helped numerous franchise organizations improve performance and their bottom line. Over the past 31 years, Gappa and Management 2000 have worked with more than 950 franchises, providing strategic insights and recommendations for those organizations to address critical business challenges and capitalize on new opportunities.

In addition to Hackel and Gappa, other Franchise OPS speakers include: Deb Binder of Ingage Consulting, Rupert M. Barkoff of Kilpatrick, Townsend and Stockton; Keith Gerson of FranConnect; Eric Stites of Franchise Business Review; Stacey Ruth of Actio Marketing; Barth Getto of BizUnite; Mindy Golde of Listen360; Matt Talbot of GoSpotCheck; Cordell Riley of Tortal; and Steve Abercrombie of Profit Soup.

Franchise OPS is held three times a year in various locations around the country. Said Atlanta attendee Efrain Inzunza of the UPS Store, “I’ve been involved in franchising for 10 years and this summit represented some of the best interaction and information that I can apply to my role within my organizations.”

In addition to the educational benefits, roundtable discussions and networking opportunities with C-level franchise executives, the Franchise OPS offers the added bonus of being approved for 300 CFE credits by the International Franchise Association.

Interested parties can register for the Franchise OPS before March 25 for $599. After that, the fee increases to $699.

Franchise OPS is sponsored by FranConnect, Franchise Business Review, Kilpatrick Townsend; Actio Marketing, BizUnite, Ingage Consulting, Listen360, Management 2000, GoSpotCheck, ProfitSoup and Tortal.
