South Shore Skin Center, one of the most progressive dermatology practices in Massachusetts with offices in Plymouth and Cohasset, has recently announced the availability of Latisse, the first and only FDA approved treatment to grow eyelashes longer, thicker and darker, made by Allergan.

AAFD’s The Franchisee Voice newsletter goes online

The American Association of Franchisees and Dealers recently announced its newsletter, The Franchisee Voice, will now be published exclusively online at http://www.thefranchiseevoice.com. The publication had previously been a quarterly, hard copy newsletter mailed out to AAFD members.

“Going online dramatically expands our influence, and unlocks huge opportunities to communicate with our members, prospective members and the general public in real time,” said Robert Purvin, chairman of AAFD. “We are no longer locked into finite page limitations and can expand the editorial content of our contributors—the possibilities are endless!”

Old Colony Elder Services Appoints Shawn C. Smith as Nutrition Director

Old Colony Elder Services (OCES), a private, non-profit Aging Services Access Point (ASAP) located in Brockton, recently appointed Shawn C. Smith, a resident of Stoughton, as Nutrition Director.

Ms. Smith, a Registered Dietician, will oversee all aspects of the program including the nutrition staff, case managers, menu development, nutrition education, the Meals on Wheels Program and the congregate sites. Additionally, Ms. Smith will serve as dietician for Old Colony and the region it serves.

A graduate of Johnson & Wales University in Providence, RI, Ms. Smith holds a BS in Culinary Nutrition. She completed her dietetic residency at State University of New York at Stony Brook.

Previous to OCES, Ms. Smith was a Dietician at Coastline Elderly Service in New Bedford. Prior to that, she was an Executive Chef at Eatin’ Healthy Restaurant located in Quincy.

Ms. Smith is a member of the American Dietetic Association (ADA) and the Meals on Wheels Association of America (MOWAA).

She is a native of Southampton, New York.

“Shawn is truly dedicated and her wealth of knowledge and understanding of the comprehensive needs of seniors make her an ideal fit for our organization,” noted Diana L. DiGiorgi, Executive Director.

Marshfield native Jonathan Hall, the Emmy award winning journalist and investigative reporter for WHDH Channel 7 News Boston will be the Master of Ceremonies at the Boys and Girls Club of Marshfield’s “An Evening of Stars” Gala and Auction on March 7, 2009 at the Indian Pond Country Club in Kingston.

 

Hall’s career began in Boston at WEEI Newsradio 590 as an executive editor and producer for which he won the Associated Press Award for WEEI Evening Review. He went on to become a writer for Newscenter 5 broadcasts and an Associate Producer for WCVB-TV Boston and then moved on to WMTW in Portland, ME and KMOV in St. Louis, MO before returning to Boston.

 

The Boys and Girls Club’s dazzling Gala and Auction will celebrate the fifth anniversary of the Boys and Girls Club of Marshfield and also serve as a major fundraiser. Approximately 350 people are expected to attend.

 

“We’re absolutely thrilled to have Jonathan Hall, who is extremely talented and who grew up in Marshfield, emcee our event,” noted Greg Jackson, Executive Director of the club.

 

During the evening, the club will honor former State Representative Frank Hynes and his wife Heather for their support of and dedication to the Boys and Girls Club and families in the area. The “Youth of the Year” will be announced and presented with a scholarship. Guests will enjoy cocktails, hors d’oeuvres, dinner, entertainment and a silent and live auction.
