New England and Nantucket’s Premier Invitational Fishing Tournament Will Take Place Aug. 11 – 14, 2016

BOSTON, MA…

JDRF, the leading global organization funding and advocating for type 1 diabetes (T1D) research, is pleased to announce that it will be the charity partner of this year’s Big Game Battle offshore sport fishing tournament, taking place August 11-14 from Nantucket Island.  The partnership will help JDRF raise funds and awareness for T1D research and the organization’s programs.

The Big Game Battle is an invitational, big game fishing tournament. Begun in 2002 with three boats, the tournament has grown to include more than 200 participants and more than 45 boats, ranging in size from 26 feet to 86 feet in length. The tournament is proudly not a money tournament, with its name derived from the fact that so many of the boat captains “talk a big game.”

“This will be our 15th tournament and we are looking forward to another terrific event, on the water and at the award ceremony and dinner,” said Don O’Neill, one of the tournament organizers and Managing Partner of Condyne Capital Partners, LLC. “We are proud to have maintained the same focus on fun, camaraderie and fishing as the tournament has grown over the years. We are also proud that as we’ve grown we’ve been able to help a charity each year and we’re looking forward to working with JDRF.”

Each year’s Big Game Battle benefits a local charity, usually with a connection with a boat captain or crew member. In previous years, the tournament has benefitted the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, the Boys and Girls Club of Dorchester, Nantucket STAR, the ALS Therapy Development Institute, and the International Rett Syndrome Foundation.

“The people organizing and participating in the Big Game Battle have shown their tremendous generosity in helping their annual charitable partners and we could not be more excited to be involved this year,” said Amy Montalto, executive director of the New England Chapter of JDRF. “Each day approximately 80 people are diagnosed with type 1 diabetes, a disease with no current cure. Our association with this tournament will help us raise awareness and critical funds for research to treat, prevent and ultimately cure T1D.”

Sponsors of this year’s tournament include individuals and several leading companies in Massachusetts, from Greater Boston to the Cape and Islands, including Albany Road Real Estate Investors, Atlas Investment Group, Kirk Bittel (Fischer & Company), Callahan, Inc., Campanelli Companies, Charles River Realty Investors, Condyne Capital Partners, Kyra and Andrew Frank, Intercontinental Real Estate Corporation, Jack Diamond Law, J. Calnan & Associates, Leerink Partners, Lincoln Property Company, Bill McQuillan (Boylston Properties), Jody and Tim Nash, Normandy Real Estate Partners, Office Resources, Inc., Oyster Harbors Marine, Patagonia, Pathlight Capital, Polhemus Savery DaSilva Architects Builders, Redgate Real Estate Advisors, Chris Rhinesmith (Pine Acres Realty), R.J. Kelly Co., Inc., Spear Street Capital, Greg St. Pierre, Taurus Investment Holdings, Tim Smith (Nutter McClennen & Fish), Transwestern | RBJ, and Kevin White (AON).

South Coast Improvement Company (SCI), a design-build general contractor serving New England and the Mid-Atlantic states, recently completed the build-out for the new First Watch Café at 775 East Lancaster Avenue, Suite 140, in Villanova, Pennsylvania.

VILLANOVA, PA, READING, PA and MARION, MA…

South Coast Improvement Company, a design-build general contractor serving New England and the Mid-Atlantic states, recently finished the build-out for the new First Watch Café at 775 East Lancaster Avenue, Suite 140, in Villanova, Pennsylvania. First Watch is the largest and fastest-growing day-time only restaurant concept in the U.S. with more than 280 locations in 26 states.

South Coast Improvement began work on the Villanova location in late February. The build-out included: plumbing, electrical, ductwork, drywall, tiling and brickwork, flooring, painting, prepping kitchen for new equipment and alarm installation. South Coast Improvement finished work in April, with the total cost of the building being $390,000.

“The restaurant industry is a lot like our business. People love it when go out to eat and get served promptly. Yet if the meal isn’t good, it spoils the entire experience. When we take on a build-out like this, we want to do more than meet deadlines and have an excellent finished product. We aim for a positive experience for the client and we believe that to be the case here at First Watch Café,” said Tom Quinlan, president of South Coast Improvement Company. “

First Watch Café in Villanova just opened for business this month.

Catapult Advisory Group aligns with Envisionable

May 23, 2016 //  by admin

Greg DeSimone
Greg DeSimone

MANSFIELD, MA and CRANSTON, RI…

Catapult Advisory Group, a business coaching, consulting and training firm focused on helping successful family owned businesses achieve greater success, recently announced a collaboration with Envisionable of Cranston, Rhode Island. Envisionable develops organizational/productivity software for small businesses.

“We work with a number of companies that are in the beginning stages of developing an exit plan strategy. A big part of an exit plan and getting more money for your business is installing systems that make the business run without direct attention from the business owner so that when a new owner comes in they can hit the ground running,” said Greg DeSimone, founder of Catapult Advisory Group. “We have used Envisionable’s product for many of our clients, which is why this formal collaboration makes all the sense in the world.”

The Envisionable platform helps small businesses clarify company vision by defining company and individual goals and assigning accountabilities. Envisionable’s many capabilities include tools to define and track employee goals and initiatives as well as define and track key performance indicators.

“Many small businesses spend so much time putting out fires they lose track of the big picture and even short-term goals. Envisionable enables small businesses to clarify what the ‘big rocks’ in their business are and align their team around solving them,” said John Boudreau, CEO of Envisionable. “Through this our collaboration with Greg DeSimone and Catapult Advisory Group, we’re delighted to bring that service to a broader array of businesses.”

A self-described “recovering CPA”, DeSimone has nearly two decades of financial and management experience. He’s also a Brian Tracy certified business coach—a certification that requires more than 150 hours of study to obtain and maintain. During his tenure as director of Catapult Advisory Group, he has worked with numerous businesses of all sizes—particularly family-owned businesses—to help them fine-tune goals and strategies, develop exit strategies and optimize operations.

Lawn Doctor has launched a comprehensive mosquito control program called Yard Armour.  This program addresses both control and prevention of mosquitoes.

Existing mosquito infestations must be tackled head on. Many pest control companies use chemical treatments which are effective on mosquitoes but also expose your family and pets to those chemicals.  Lawn Doctor’s Yard Armour uses a highly effective organic treatment made from natural ingredients which pose no risk to your family and pets.  This patented formula contains natural insect repellents such as cedar oil and peppermint oil which are not only very effective but leave your property with a lovely, fresh scent.

What can you do to reduce these puny pests?

First off, remove any stagnant water such as that found in birdbaths, tires, and trash barrels. Water in dog bowls and bird baths should be changed regularly to avoid ripe breeding climates for mosquitoes.  Cleaning out rain gutters regularly is also important.  Lastly, keep your lawn and shrubs on a regular maintenance schedule.

To a mosquito, overgrown grass and shrubbery can look like a nice place to raise a family.

Lawn Doctor is focused on working in harmony with the science of nature. Every service is designed to boost natural growth. This goes beyond the use of simple, green products. The company’s proprietary technology allows its lawn professionals to precisely measure and apply the optimum blend of nutrients and control products- doing the right thing for your lawn and for the environment.

A healthy landscape is not only beautiful but also provides many environmental benefits such as filtering air and water, creating fresh oxygen, reducing pollutants, and moderating temperatures.  Lawn Doctor of Boston, the South Shore, and Cape Cod is a local, family owned and operated business serving over 7,000 homeowners in the Greater Boston region.  Main offices are located in Hanover, MA.
