Returning to the new workplace. What to expect. How to stay safe. Complimentary webinar prepares you for the next phase.

July 7, 2020 //  by admin

Will we ever hang around the water cooler again?  What about the new acceptable elevator capacity?  How will specifically designed workstations keep us separated and yet still connected to one another.

A free webinar entitled “Returning to the new workplace. What to expect. How to stay safe.” is scheduled for Wednesday, July 29, noon – 1 p.m. The complimentary program is sponsored by Rockland Trust, My Pinnacle Network, South Shore and Networking Professionals.

Topics will include how often should the office be cleaned?  How should the office be cleaned?  How will air be cleaned and monitored?  How does the footprint get changed?  Will companies share space or segment their own?  What furniture designs work for safe distancing, but avoid isolation?  How do companies integrate remote and on-site workers?

According to McKinsey research, 80 percent of those interviewed noted that they enjoy working from home. Forty-one percent say that they are more productive than they had been before and another 28 percent that they are as productive. Many employees delighted in freedom from commuting and greater work/life balance. Many are reluctant to return to a conventional office environment.

Featured presenters include Jay Nuss, principal of Jay Nuss Realty Group and Steve Wilson, principal of Office Furniture Consulting. Steve Dubin of PR Works will moderate the panel.

Nuss has over 30 years of experience in all facets of commercial real estate brokerage with special emphasis on the selling and leasing of office, industrial, and mixed-use properties in the Greater Boston Area.

Wilson founded Office Furniture Consulting in 1990. It is a multi-featured company providing space planning, quote specification development, ergonomic research, relocation services, and office furniture procurement.

My Pinnacle Network, the business to business networking group with monthly meetings in Bourne, Braintree, Mansfield, Marshfield, Newton, and Westborough, MA, recently announced the winners of its third annual Networking Ninja Awards. The Networking Ninja Awards were created to recognize the region’s best networkers in four separate categories: Best Connector (helping bring people together); Most Ubiquitous (appears to be at every networking event); Most Altruistic (does most for others); and Brightest Beacon (adds energy to networking events).

Jim Hickox, owner of Apple Corps Cleaning Service of Weymouth took home the honors as Best Connector. He is a member of My Pinnacle Network-Braintree Third Thursday.

“We had a number of networkers nominated for these awards and these individuals stood out as the cream of the crop in our region,” said Steve Dubin, founder of My Pinnacle Network. “Each of these winners has proven themselves to be first-rate connectors who are givers first, which is how they ultimately receive referrals for their respective businesses.”

Voting for the Networking Ninja Awards took place from January 1 through February 28 on the My Pinnacle Network website, www.mypinnaclenetwork.com. Others nominated for awards include: George Rolfing of Brookline Transportation; Itamar Chalif of Rockland Trust; Robert Viamari of Cape & Plymouth Business Magazine; Roy Pacitto of Bryley Systems; Steve Wilson of Office Furniture Consulting; Dave Flaherty of Aflac; Sheldon Prenovitz of ABResources; Bill Tkowski of FMC Partners; Matthew Mensch of Law Office of Matthew Mensch; Lois Drukman of Walter May Insurance; Neil Policow of Leaderboard-Boston; Nicole Connolly of PhotoFabulousYou.com; Pam Snell of ACTSmart; Will Shain of TAB; Michael Mills of Business Coaches and Associates; and Murray Vetstein of Source4.

The event was held during South Shore Professional Networking Group’s regular meeting night, the third Tuesday of the month.

“We can’t thank Lois Drukman, Mark Roos and the rest of the South Shore Professional Networking Group for sharing their meeting night for our awards ceremony,” noted Dubin. “Networking really starts with giving and the SSPNG team exemplifies that philosophy.”

My Xander Bogaerts story

October 21, 2013 //  by admin

Xander Bogaerts

I liked Xander Bogaerts before I ever saw him play.

It was up in Portland last year. I was with my stepson and father-in-law. We had attended an autograph session for my stepson’s birthday. Each player had their own table. The most popular were Jackie Bradley, Jr. and Xander Bogaerts, who had just been called up to the Sea Dogs the week before.

One autograph seeker, a 60-year-old “collector” tried to strike up a conversation with Xander and impress him with his baseball knowledge. If you have attended any of these sessions before, you know the type. They carry a binder full of signed baseball cards, each preserved in plastic to ensure their future value. Rising minor league stars are their primary targets.

Well, this gentleman was looking to impress the Sox rising star with his baseball knowledge.

“You know, if Xander was your last name, you’d be the first player in major league history to have a last name that started with an X.”

“Fascinating,” said Xander without changing expression.
On paper, this might sound rude. In person, you had to admire the 19-year-old who got what was going on and responded in a way that most of the people in line would have loved to.

In short, you got the feeling this kid might be different.

That was confirmed that night when we saw Xander play for the first time. First at-bat, home run. And it wasn’t that he hit a home run but they way he did it. The 19-year-old turned on a fastball like nobody I’ve seen since Jim Rice.

At the start of this baseball season, I made a slap bet with my stepson that Xander would be up to Pawtucket by July 4. He took the bet mistakenly thinking I meant Boston Red Sox. Turns out, I wasn’t too far off. The kid made it to Pawtucket by June and was in Boston in August.

Simply put, the kid is the real deal.

What’s the networking pointer? Well, it’s not to be disrespectful to the people who help pay your salary (as much as I thought the comment was fitting). But it does have to do with being genuine in your elevator pitches.

Don’t overpromise. Don’t exaggerate your capabilities or try to impress for the sake of impressing. Be real. Be who you are. People will see that and respond accordingly.

Go, Sox!

Growing businesses and moustaches. My Pinnacle Network, a B2B networking organization, fields team for Movember fundraiser for prostate cancer research.

October 15, 2013 //  by admin

Joe D’Eramo of My Pinnacle Network after Movember 2011

BOURNE, BRAINTREE, MANSFIELD, MARSHFIELD, NEWTON, PLYMOUTH, ROCKLAND AND WESTBOROUGH, MA AND PROVIDENCE, RI…

In its monthly B2B networking meetings, My Pinnacle Network preaches the value of networking as the best tool for generating leads and referrals leading to new business. Next month, My Pinnacle Network Founders Steve Dubin and Joe D’Eramo will put this philosophy to the test as they participate in the Movember fundraiser to generate funds for prostate cancer research. And they are asking their network to join them.

Movember is an international fundraiser sponsored by the Prostate Cancer, LIVESTRONG and Movember foundations. During the entire month of November participants grow mustaches during the entire month as a rallying point for raising funds and awareness for prostate cancer health and other men’s cancer-related issues.

“The fight against prostate cancer is a big one, even larger than my partner Joe D’Eramo,” said Dubin of the 6’6” D’Eramo. “We’re inviting all members of the 10 My Pinnacle Network groups to join us in this fight either by growing moustaches with us or by supporting the effort monetarily.”

My Pinnacle Network hosts business-to-business networking groups in Bourne, Braintree, Mansfield, Marshfield, Newton, Plymouth, Providence, Rockland and Westborough.

Interested parties, both My Pinnacle Network members and non-members, can join the My Pinnacle Network team by visiting its Movember team site at http://us.movember.com/team/1027241.

“I’m actually going to have to shave off my goatee to participate in this fundraiser, but it is worth it,” said D’Eramo, whose father is a prostate cancer survivor. “I recently lost a relative to prostate cancer and my next store neighbor growing up has it. Cancer is a wicked disease and must be stopped. If me and some of my networking colleagues can help make that happen by growing a cheesy moustache for a month, that’s a very small sacrifice.”

According to the Movember website, one in six men will be diagnosed with prostate cancer in their lifetime, with a man being diagnosed with prostate cancer every 2.2 minutes. In fact, one in two men will be diagnosed with cancer in their lifetime. Making this even more scary is that 24 percent of men are less likely to go the doctor compared to women.

For Movember, each participant must start clean-shaven on November 1. Donors and fellow Mo Bros can follow the progress of each participant’s mustache and fundraising on a Mo Page. Participants are encouraged to be creative with their mustaches in order to promote donations.

“I’m not sure what Joe has in mind, but I’m going with the Fu Manchu,” said Dubin. “We will be  posting both our faces and that of our fellow teammates My Pinnacle Network’s blog and Facebook page so people can check us out. We’ve also put out a notice to our clients and networking groups to see if they want to join us. There’s always room for one Mo.”

To follow the ‘stache efforts of the My Pinnacle Network team, you can visit their Facebook page at www.facebook.com/MyPinnacleNetwork or their blog at www.mypinnaclenetwork.com. For those interested in donating, you can find out more about the type of work you’d be helping to fund by visiting the Movember website: http://us.movember.com/about. Movember is a registered 501 (c)(3) charity; donations are tax deductible to the extent permitted by law.

About My Pinnacle Network
My Pinnacle Network streamlines the networking process by putting members shoulder to shoulder with others who are in the exact same traffic lanes. Another advantage of this networking concept is that if approved, a member has the exclusive rights to their category for their group–more than 40 other categories will be represented at each meeting.

Beyond the B to B angle, My Pinnacle Network adds the element of “high tech” to “high touch” of monthly face to face meetings.  All group data flows through a robust and easy to use website.  This keeps everyone accountable and highly visible.

All introductions/leads are posted to the My Pinnacle Network website and the website’s automation both tracks leads and provides reminders to pursue them.  Each member’s lead production and closing ratio can be measured by the group leader at any time.  Thus, non-productive members can be further coached to improve their value to the group.

If you are interested in attending a meeting in your area, please contact Steven V. Dubin at SDubin@MyPinnacleNetwork.com or 781-582-1061 to RSVP. There is no charge to visit a My Pinnacle Network meeting. For more information, visit www.mypinnaclenetwork.com.
