Victoria Hancock Named Master Colorist at Makeovers Salon & Spa of Easton

October 30, 2010 //  by admin

Victoria Hancock, Master Colorist

Makeovers Salon & Spa, one of the largest salon and spas in Massachusetts, located at the Marketplace Mall in Easton, has recently named Victoria Hancock as Master Colorist. Ms. Hancock is currently accepting new clients.

Ms. Hancock has more than 25 years of experience as a hair stylist/colorist and has spent the last 10 years specializing in color. Makeovers Salon and Spa has appointed Ms. Hancock as the salon’s Master Colorist and her specialties are corrective color, single processes and multiple technique foiling.

Previously, Ms. Hancock was a colorist for Andree Robere Salon & Day Spa for six years. Prior to that, she was a stylist/colorist at Paul Joseph’s Image Group. She obtained her education at Costin’s RI Academy of Beauty Culture and frequently attends hair color training and conferences to learn the latest, state-of-the-art techniques.

Sharing her knowledge of today’s hottest hair trends, Ms. Hancock noted, “For the fall season, warm, autumn color tones such as golds and coppers are in. Peek-A-Boo highlights are all the rage now because they give clients color longevity and options. These highlights go underneath the top layer of the hair and essentially last longer because they are not at the crown and you don’t notice them growing out. Peek-A-Boo highlights are very versatile and clients who love to change their hair color frequently, love these highlights because they allow for a tonal change as often as every 4-6 weeks.”

“As our most experienced colorist, Victoria is a truly valuable member of our team. She brings a wealth of knowledge to the table; clients adore her and and it is an absolute pleasure to work with her,” said internationally renowned stylists and salon owners Edward and Norah Blum.

Ms. Hancock resides in Raynham.

Makeovers Salon & Spa’s “Fashion for a Cause” Benefit Makes a Big Splash

October 5, 2010 //  by admin

Local makeover contest winner Colette Maillett shows off her new look at Makeovers Salon + Spa 'Fashion for a Cause' event.

Makeovers Salon & Spa’s “Fashion for a Cause” event held last week, which was a fundraiser for Wheels for Avery, was a tremendous success. Over $5,000 (in donations) was raised and will help Avery Austin, a severly disabled Easton boy, get the wheelchair he needs.

It was an evening of fashion and fun for a good cause. Attendees were able to see the latest styles in hair color and design, make-up, clothing and accessories during the Runway Show which featured items from Posh Boutique, Rock Reunion Clothing, Timeless Antiques, B-Buckled, The Loft and Wella.

In addition to the runway models, five local Makeover contest winners debuted their new personal styles on the runway: Emily Candora, a cancer survivor who removed her wig for the first time and revealed her new edgy, purple hairstyle (courtesy of salon co-owner and renowned stylist Edward Blum); Colette Maillett; Brenda Morganti and Ann Taylor.

Guests also enjoyed pre-show boutique shopping, wine tasting courtesy of The Wine Guys, music courtesy of Rakish Productions and food from Makeovers’ own Gourmet Café. Sponsors include Rentals Unlimited, William Byer, Rose Hill Garden and Richard Bertone Photography.

For more information about Wheels for Avery, visit http://awalkbyfaithamazedbygrace.blogspot.com/ .

“We’re really happy that we were able to all come together and help the Austin family. They’re wonderful people who are facing some incredible challenges. We want to thank everyone – our guests, our staff, the vendors and sponsors – for all their support,” noted salon owners Edward and Norah Blum.

UFC Hall of Famer Chuck Liddell Hits Easton Spa – Celebrities and Athletes are Making Makeovers Salon & Spa their “Go To” Retreat

September 5, 2010 //  by admin

Ultimate Fighting Champion (UFC) Hall of Famer and 2009 Dancing With The Stars competitor Chuck “The Iceman” Liddell and his girlfriend Heidi Northcott enjoyed a day of relaxation at Makeovers Salon + Spa in Easton before the big mixed martial arts “Fan Expo” event at the Hynes Convention Center last week in Boston’s Back Bay.

Kicking back in Makeovers plush, relaxing Couples Suite, Liddell enjoyed a 90-minute Deep Tissue Massage from Marilynn Lima who had worked on Texas Rangers Pitcher CJ Wilson a few weeks back. Northcott received her 90-minute Deep Tissue Massage from Teresa Flaherty.

According to Liddell, “The Makeovers crew treated me as if I had walked into their home. We had a great time. This will be my ‘go to’ spot when I come into the city.” He continued, “The place was really amazing. Total luxury and just 30 minutes outside of Boston.”

Ed and Norah Blum, owners of Makeovers Salon & Spa said, “It was an amazing experience to see how well-rounded an athlete Chuck is. He is truly a gracious gentleman.” Blum jokingly noted, “I would be thrilled to work with the UFC again. I feel safer working with them than against them.”

Paradise Found – Makeovers Salon & Spa of Easton Expands

August 3, 2010 //  by admin

Makeovers Salon & Spa of Easton has undergone a transformation. What was once a 6,000 square foot upscale hair salon and spa located at 574 Washington Street, has become a 13,200 square foot “paradise” for the body, mind and soul.

From the high-end hair salon to the relaxing cafe to the peaceful tranquility room and expansive Day Spa, Makeovers Salon & Spa has been transformed into a “Mecca” for beauty and wellness.

Owned and operated by renowned, award-winning designers Edward and Norah Blum, Makeovers’ sophisticated salon now boasts 26 styling stations and 16 coloring stations manned by seasoned design professionals who have the most advanced training (on an international level) in the latest color and cutting techniques.

Steps away from the salon, clients can enjoy refreshment or gather with friends in the relaxing cafe which is complete with a soothing water feature.

The state-of-the-art Day Spa offers nine treatment rooms, with a special couples suite containing a double Jacuzzi and massage area. The manicure room has doubled to eight and the private pedicure room, with pipeless units, can hold six clients at once. The spa also houses women’s and men’s locker rooms with jetted spray showers as well as a Vichy shower room for after body treatments.

Services offered at the Day Spa include facials, laser treatments, massage, manicures, pedicures, wraps, body treatments and waxing. Clients can sooth the mind as well as the body with reflexology and aromatherapy. Makeovers’ spa can accommodate parties of 4 to 40 and they offer special packages such as Day of Beauty, Bridal, Groom, Couples and Men’s packages.

Perhaps the most unique addition in the Makeovers’ expansion is their Tranquility room. After spa services, clients may “take a moment away from it all” to relax and de-stress in the dimly-lit, sound-proof room that is complete with plush, reclined seating, waterfall, calming music and a refreshment/snack area.

According to Edward Blum, “With our expansion, we have literally become the largest salon and spa under one roof in the state. We have a staff of more than 80 providing hair styling and coloring; nail and spa services. When we were designing the salon and spa, we wanted to bring back the best of all the salons and spas we had experienced in our travels around the world and incorporate these elements into Makeovers. We want each client to feel truly pampered, as if s/he is our only client. We wanted to give our clients the five-star experience and we believe we’ve achieved our goal. Makeovers has become more than a salon and day spa – it’s really a destination.”

Makeovers Salon & Spa has been honored 15 times over the years with First Place Reader’s Choice Award in all beauty categories.
