Old Colony Elder Services (OCES), the Brockton based regional agency serving older adults, individuals with disabilities and caregivers, celebrated National Social Work Month by giving back to the community with a scholarship contribution and a food drive.
The National Association of Social Worker’s month-long celebration theme was “All People Matter”. In keeping with the theme, OCES highlighted the importance of social workers by making a $2,000 contribution to the Edward T. Donovan Memorial Social Work Scholarship Fund for Bridgewater State University students pursuing a career in social work. OCES helped support community members in need by holding a food drive for The Charity Guild, a local food pantry.
“Social work is one of the fastest growing professions. Social workers bring critical family needs and social injustices to the forefront and make a difference in many people’s lives every day. National Social Work Month highlights how social workers are absolutely essential,” noted Diana DiGiorgi, Executive Director of OCES.
