SCOTTSDALE, AZ AND HANOVER, MA…

Lapels Dry Cleaning, an innovative, environmentally friendly dry cleaning company headquartered in Hanover, Massachusetts, recently announced a five-store development agreement with Scottsdale resident Shane Kelly. The initial Lapels Dry Cleaning store and plant will open at 8240 North Hayden Road in Scottsdale on September 20. A grand opening is set for October 18.

“We’re extremely excited to bring Lapels Dry Cleaning to Scottsdale for many reasons. First and foremost is Lapels environmentally responsible way of cleaning clothes,” said Kelly. “When we open our doors on the 20th, we will be one of the few dry cleaners in Scottsdale who can claim that there is no hazardous waste in our dry cleaning process.”

Lapels Dry Cleaning will use GreenEarth®, the dry cleaning industry’s only non-toxic cleaning alternative, at its Scottsdale locations.  By utilizing GreenEarth and the latest technology in equipment, Lapels’ dry cleaning process has no odor and is gentler on clothes, thus lengthening the life of clothes.

Lapels Dry Cleaning also sets itself apart with its customer service. Lapels customers are greeted to a warm and inviting reception area, with friendly customer service representatives, and alteration services.

Lapels offers it’s customers Automatic Rewards earning them credit towards free dry cleaning for every dollar they spend, Loyalty Programs, a VIP Program which eliminates the need to wait in line, the use of a 24 Hour Drop Off Service and free Home Delivery. Same day service is also available with pick-up after 5 pm.

“When I was researching business opportunities, the green portion was certainly important,” said Kelly, who spent the previous two decades in sales in the medical device industry. “What really sold me was the quality of the company’s offerings and its vision of the dry cleaning industry.  And for someone who has essentially lived on an airplane for the past 20 years, the chance to spend more quality time with my family while building a business and giving back to my local community was alluring.”

The Scottsdale Chamber of Commerce will be holding a ribbon-cutting at Lapels Dry Cleaning of Scottsdale on October 8 at 4:30 p.m.  Scottsdale Mayor Jim Lane will be in attendance.

“We’re delighted to sign this agreement with Shane as it means more than bringing an environmentally friendlier way to dry clean clothes to Scottsdale. It also means jobs,” said Kevin Dubois, CEO of Lapels Dry Cleaning. “We expect to add more than 25 jobs to the greater Scottsdale area as we build a network of Lapels Dry Cleaning locations.”

SOUTH BOSTON, MA AND HANOVER, MA…

Lapels Dry Cleaning, an innovative, environmentally friendly dry cleaning company headquartered in Hanover, Massachusetts, recently announced a seven-store development agreement with the father and son team of Steve Goddess and Scott Goddess to bring the Future of Dry Cleaning to Boston’s Seaport District. The initial store will be located at 415 D Street in South Boston.

The Goddess duo has extensive experience with franchise development and operations from their success at expanding the Dunkin Donut brand presence within the metro Boston area.

“When considering our next business venture, we were looking for a forward-thinking franchise that had the potential for being the next Dunkin Donuts in their industry,” said Scott Goddess. “With their commitment to greener, more environmentally friendly ways of dry cleaning and their involvement in the community, Lapels has that potential. And in the fastest growing marketing in Boston, the Seaport District, we are extremely excited about this opportunity.”

Adds Scott Goddess, “When I was recently out in the Seaport District, I overheard some people talking about the Fort Point area and how it was a growing neighborhood. One of the people noted that a neighborhood becomes a neighborhood once it has a dry cleaner. That made me smile.”

An opening of the first Lapels Dry Cleaning in the Seaport District is anticipated in the early fall.

Lapels has pioneered its eco-friendly dry cleaning experience for the past dozen years. Earlier this year, Lapels signed a partnership agreement with GreenEarth®, the dry cleaning industry’s only non-toxic cleaning alternative for its newer locations.  Using these kinds of solutions and the latest technology in equipment, Lapels is one of the few dry cleaners able to boast that there is no hazardous waste in their process. Their environmentally-friendly cleaning process has no odor and is gentler on clothes, thus lengthening the life of clothes.

Lapels Dry Cleaning also sets itself apart with its customer service. Lapels customers are greeted to a warm and inviting reception area, with friendly customer service representatives, and alteration services.

“We’re delighted to sign this agreement with Scott and Steve as it means more than bringing an environmentally friendlier way to dry clean clothes to the Seaport District. It also means jobs,” said Kevin Dubois, CEO of Lapels Dry Cleaning. “We expect to add a total of almost 30 jobs to Boston as we build our hub and spokes network of Lapels Dry Cleaning locations.”

NEW ALBANY, MS and HANOVER, MA…

As a professional basketball player and now coach of the high school squad in New Albany, John Stroud knows a thing or two about pressing. As the owner of the new Lapels Dry Cleaning located at 501 West Bankhead in New Albany, he’s expanded that knowledge of presses to include an innovative, environmentally friendly way of dry cleaning clothes. The results of that method were recently on display at the store’s grand opening on July 12.

“Lapels’ commitment to greener dry cleaning and customer service is what drew me and my wife Billye Jean to this opportunity and it’s plain to see that the way we dry clean makes clothes just plain look and feel better,” said Stroud. “We had a great turnout for the grand opening and we hope everybody who couldn’t make it will come on down to see and feel the Lapels Dry Cleaning difference.”

Lapels Dry Cleaning of New Albany opened for business on June 28. Hours for the store are Monday through Friday, 7 am to 7 pm; Saturday 8 am to 5 pm; and Sunday, 12 pm to 3 pm.

Lapels Dry Cleaning of New Albany uses GreenEarth Cleaning Solution to clean garments. GreenEarth represents the dry cleaning industry’s only non-toxic cleaning alternative. GreenEarth silicone’s unique, non-aggressive cleaning solution enables it to penetrate fabrics and remove soils without chemically interfering with the textile fibers themselves, helping to maintain their “like-new” look and feel.

Using the latest technology in equipment, along with the GreenEarth cleaning solution, Lapels is one of the few dry cleaners in Mississippi to be able to boast that there is no hazardous waste in their process.

“We would like to congratulate and welcome John and Billye Jean to the Lapels Dry Cleaning family. We are delighted to have them on board and we know the people of the New Albany area are going to love what Lapels has to offer,” said Kevin Dubois, CEO of Lapels Dry Cleaning, which has its corporate headquarters in Hanover, Massachusetts.

Beyond the environmentally friendly cleaning process is Lapels Dry Cleaning’s customer service. Lapels customers are greeted to a warm and inviting reception area, with friendly customer service representatives, and alteration services.

Lapels offers its customers Automatic Rewards earning them credit towards free dry cleaning for every dollar they spend, Loyalty Programs, a VIP Program which eliminates the need to wait in line and the use of a 24-Hour Drop Off Service. Same day service is also available with pick-up after 5 pm.

Between Rounds business opportunities offer an escape from corporate world

July 15, 2014 //  by admin

location imageTrapped by the glass ceiling or stuck halfway up the corporate ladder? Between Rounds, a unique bakery café and bagel shop with locations throughout Connecticut has franchise opportunities available to women and others who dare to command their own destiny.

“Our franchise opportunities may appeal to many, but in particular to women who are looking to make the transition from corporate management to business ownership,” explained Jerry Puiia, co-owner of the franchise. “We offer brand recognition, proven operations and plenty of training and support which is a recipe that ensures success.”

The number of women in franchising is a fast growing population. According to FranchiseDirect.com, women own 20.5 percent of franchised businesses.

“Approximately 85 percent of consumer spending is done by women, who are often the decision-makers when it comes to household spending. As a fast-casual dining establishment, Between Rounds offers fresh, healthy meal options in a clean, comfortable, upscale environment, which is attractive to female consumers as well as potential franchisees,” noted Puiia.

The family-owned Between Rounds Bakery Sandwich Café has been in business for more than two decades and is the brainchild of brothers Jerry and Joe Puiia, who are Staten Island, NY natives.  Between Rounds’ current locations include South Windsor (corporate headquarters), Vernon, Manchester and Tolland.

For those who are looking to be their own boss and take charge of their career, Between Rounds’ offers several different franchise opportunities – from a traditional store opportunity to Kiosk Gas Station and Convenience Market program and an Area Developer Program.

The kiosk store is a non-traditional convenience store/gas station model that offers gas station customers the ability to purchase Between Rounds specialty coffee, fresh made breakfast and lunch sandwiches, fresh baked bagels and assorted bakery items from a clean, well-designed store (drive-thru window is optional) adjacent to the filling station. The kiosk store has low start-up costs and requires an overall investment of approximately $120K for a standard store with no drive-thru.

The Area Developer Program is unique in its franchise offering, as it encompasses the operation of three retail bakery sandwich café locations as well as a manufacturing commissary in a protected territory.  This development strategy allows the franchisee to maximize efficiencies in labor, food, and energy costs while providing a solid investment return.

Gardiner’s Market Teams Up with Between Rounds to Offer Signature Product Line

July 2, 2014 //  by admin

Tom Gardiner

Two family businesses have teamed up and created a “recipe for success” in South Glastonbury.

Recognizing the high quality of Between Rounds Bakery Sandwich Café’s baked-fresh-daily bagels, Gardiner’s Market struck a deal with Between Rounds to carry their renowned signature bagels in the Bakery section.

Tom Gardiner, third generation of Gardiner’s, who took the helm in 1983 with his wife Amy, explained, “Between Rounds is local and very well known. Their products are high quality, consistent and absolutely delicious. Our customers are happy because they know exactly what they are getting with the Between Rounds brand.”

The family-owned Between Rounds has been in business for more than two decades and is the brainchild of brothers Jerry and Joe Puiia, who are Staten Island, NY natives.  Between Rounds current locations include South Windsor (corporate headquarters), Vernon, Manchester and Tolland.

“Our goal is similar to Gardiner’s in that we both strive to make available the freshest, most delicious products possible.  We’re delighted to work with Tom and Amy and honored to have Gardiner’s Market carry our bagels. It makes it easier for anyone who does not live near one of our cafés to obtain our superior products right from their local market,” said Jerry Puiia, co-owner of Between Rounds.

Gardiner’s Market carries all flavors of Between Rounds bagels and is looking to offer additional Between Rounds baked goods as space allows.

“We strive to bring in local items from neighbors who work and live in the area. At the suggestion of one of our long-time staff members, we sampled Between Rounds bagels in consideration of bringing in their product line and we were really impressed. They are a big seller,” explained Gardiner.

Family-made history

Gardiner’s Market is family-owned and operated store.  The company founder, Elmer Gardiner opened the store in 1950. After 20 successful years, he and his son, Leon Gardiner, relocated and built a larger store at the current Main Street location in South Glastonbury in 1970. The “torch” was then passed along to Tom and Amy Gardiner, who run the store, while Tom’s sister, Lynn, is the store’s bookkeeper.  All five Gardiner children work in the store, bringing the total number of employees to 49. Many of the store’s staff members have been with the company for decades. Gardiner’s Market is located at 868 Main Street, South Glastonbury. For more information, visit www.gardinersmarket.net.

Managers Kim Sears and Sharon McDonald

Between Rounds, a unique bakery café and bagel shop with locations throughout Connecticut, recently celebrated staff and store milestones.

Two managers were honored for their years of service. Between Rounds recognized Kim Sears, manager of the Vernon store, for 15 years of service.  Ms. Sears began her career at Between Rounds as a counter person and baker before being promoted to manager.  She oversees ordering, inventory, scheduling, hiring, promotions and strategic planning. A native of Ellington, Ms. Sears resides in Vernon.

Sharon McDonald, manager of the South Windsor location, was recognized for more than a decade of service – 11 years in May to be exact. Ms. McDonald, who had seven years experience working as a manager at a competitor’s store prior to Between Rounds, was a baker for one year at Between Rounds’ Manchester store before her appointment to manager of the South Windsor location. A native of Union, Ms. McDonald resides in Glastonbury.

“It is our privilege to recognize Kim and Sharon for their years of dedication and service, which have directly contributed to the overall success of our Vernon and South Windsor stores,” said Jerry Puiia, co-owner of the franchise.

20-Year Milestone

Between Rounds’ Manchester store celebrates their 20th anniversary this year.

“We opened the doors of our Vernon store in 1990 and business took off. We’ve been growing steadily ever since and have multiple locations. We’re proud to celebrate 20 successful years in Manchester,” noted Puiia.

Between Rounds is the brainchild of brothers Jerry and Joe Puiia, who are Staten Island, NY natives.  Between Rounds current locations include South Windsor (corporate headquarters), Vernon, Manchester and Tolland.  Between Rounds franchise opportunities are available. For more information, visit http://franchise.betweenroundsbagels.com.
