FocalPoint Coaching tabs Greg DeSimone as director of finance education

Greg DeSimone

Greg DeSimone
Greg DeSimone

MANSFIELD, MA…

FocalPoint, a national business coaching organization founded by business guru Brian Tracy, recently named Greg DeSimone, a FocalPoint franchise owner/strategic partner and director of Catapult Advisory Group, as its director of finance education. In this role, DeSimone, a self-described “recovering CPA”, will provide finance coaching and support to FocalPoint business coaches and their clients.

“Many FocalPoint coaches have backgrounds in sales, marketing or HR. While there might be some finance and budgeting involved for people with those backgrounds, it’s not as in-depth as the knowledge that a CPA possesses,” said DeSimone. “Through one-on-one coaching, webinars and workshops, we can get FocalPoint coaches up to speed so they can develop their financial skills and expertise and provide more value to their clients.”

Via this strategic alliance, DeSimone will work coaches on such areas as: generating industry benchmark reporting; preparing comparative industry benchmark narratives; factoring financial projections over a five-year period; and developing an exit strategy and business valuations.

In addition to providing support for FocalPoint coaches, DeSimone will provide that same service for his clients as well.

“One of the things coaches often recommend to clients is to learn how to delegate,” said DeSimone. “It’s not a sign of deficiency for a FocalPoint coach to delegate the finance coaching element of their practice to an expert. If anything, it sets a great example and puts the resources a client needs right at their fingertips.”

Additionally, DeSimone will also develop a series of webinars and workshops both for FocalPoint coaches and their clients.

Besides being a CPA, DeSimone has more than 18 years of financial and management experience. He’s also a Brian Tracy certified business coach—a certification that requires more than 150 hours of study to obtain and maintain.

For additional information on Catapult Advisory Group, contact Greg DeSimone at (508) 618-4575 or visit www.CatapultAdvisoryGroup.com.

Supermarket Partnerships Fuel Expansion at Between Rounds South Windsor

October 22, 2014 //  by admin

1Between Rounds Bakery Sandwich Café, the unique bakery café and bagel shop with four locations in Connecticut, has recently expanded operations at their South Windsor corporate headquarters and is hiring.

Jerry and Joe Puiia, owners of the Between Rounds franchise, have recently added a second oven to the South Windsor location, which will better accommodate the growing popularity and customer demand for their bagels as well as better support the partnerships that the company has with independent grocers. Between Rounds bagels are now offered in the bakery departments of 16 supermarkets in Connecticut.

Between Rounds is also hiring additional production staff to support the wholesale orders of independent grocers across the region. The bagels are delivered to grocers fully baked so no additional labor is required of the grocer’s bakery department.

“Our product is high quality, consistent and absolutely delicious. Currently, we supply 16 supermarkets with our bagels and that number keeps growing. It is an easy decision for many independent grocers because they get a superior product without any additional labor required from their bakery department,” explained Jerry Puiia. “In addition, we promote each supermarket’s bakery department by directing our website visitors to the grocers that carry our bagels. Many of our customers also shop at those supermarkets, so they can easily purchase Between Rounds bagels while grocery shopping.”

For more than 20 years, Highland Park Markets, which has stores in Suffield, Farmington, Manchester, Coventry and Glastonbury, has been carrying Between Rounds bagels as their privately labeled brand, but switched to the Between Rounds brand name two years ago.  West Side Marketplace in Rocky Hill has been carrying the signature brand for four years. Geissler’s Supermarkets, which are located in Agawam, Bloomfield, East Windsor, Granby, Somers and South Windsor, have been carrying them for almost a year. Lyman Orchards Apple Barrel Market in Middlefield and the family-owned Gardiner’s Market in South Glastonbury have just started carrying Between Rounds products. As a grocery partner, Waverly Markets, LLC and the Cohen Family now offer Between Rounds signature bagels in their ShopRite Manchester and East Hartford stores.

Between Rounds Bakery Sandwich Café announces franchise opportunity

October 9, 2014 //  by admin

betweenrounds logo 1The restaurant industry is the most-franchised industry, consistently leading in overall job creation, according to Franchisedirect.com. The Food Franchise Industry Report 2014 reported that the bakery café segment is a major player in the food industry.

Between Rounds Bakery Sandwich Café, the unique bakery café and bagel shop with locations throughout Connecticut, offers traditional store and kiosk franchise opportunities to restaurant managers, bakers and others who wish to command their own destiny. In fact, the Between Rounds opportunity is the next likely step for restaurant managers and bakers who have been working in the industry for a number of years because they have the focus and expertise. Plus, the hours working in a fast casual café franchise such as Between Rounds are better.

“Nowadays, consumers are looking for fresh, healthy and nutritious meal options in a quick serve atmosphere, which makes bakery cafés extremely popular and a solid business investment,” explained Jerry Puiia, co-owner of the Between Rounds Bakery Café franchise.

He continued, “Restaurant managers and bakers are already ‘hands on’ in the industry and well-aware of what it takes to successfully operate a bakery café. The next logical step for them is shop ownership. Between Rounds offers brand recognition, proven operations and plenty of training and support which, coupled with the knowledge and experience they already have, is a recipe for success.”

The family-owned Between Rounds Bakery Sandwich Café, has been in business for more than two decades and is the brainchild of brothers Jerry and Joe Puiia, who are Staten Island, NY natives.  Between Rounds’ current locations include South Windsor (corporate headquarters), Vernon, Manchester and Tolland. Between Rounds franchise options include a traditional store opportunity and a Kiosk program. Between Rounds’ kiosk store program is a non-traditional convenience store/gas station model that offers customers the ability to purchase Between Rounds specialty coffee, fresh made breakfast and lunch sandwiches, fresh baked bagels and assorted bakery items from a clean, well-designed store (drive-thru window is optional) adjacent to the filling station. The kiosk store has low start-up costs and requires an overall investment of approximately $120K for a standard store with no drive-thru.

HANOVER, MA…

Lapels Dry Cleaning, an innovative, environmentally friendly dry cleaning company headquartered in Hanover, Massachusetts, recently announced the appointment of Gerry Pelissier as the franchisor’s Vice President of Operations. In this role, Pelissier will work directly with Lapels franchisees in the areas of marketing, day-to-day operations and brand-building.

“Our franchisees come from many walks of life. Some are veteran business owners and previous owners of other franchises. For some, this is their first time out. With Gerry’s extensive experience as both a franchisor and franchisee, he can provide our franchisees with guidance and mentoring as needed,” said Kevin Dubois, CEO of Lapels Dry Cleaning.

The future of dry cleaning comes to Hingham. Lapels Dry Cleaning to open on Sept. 27 at 184 Lincoln Street, Hingham

September 17, 2014 //  by admin

HINGHAM, MA and HANOVER, MA…

When people think of the town of Hingham, they think history. The opening of Lapels Dry Cleaning at 184 Lincoln Street, Suite A may not compare to events that occurred in Hingham during the Revolutionary War. Yet the newest Lapels Dry Cleaning, which will open on Saturday, September 27, will be the first Hingham dry cleaner to unequivocally state that there is no hazardous waste in their dry cleaning process.

“Our new Lapels Dry Cleaning locations are using GreenEarth Cleaning Solution, the dry cleaning industry’s only non-toxic cleaning alternative,” said Ben Marshal, owner of Lapels Dry Cleaning of Hingham and Lapels Dry Cleaning of Hanover. “GreenEarth silicone’s unique, non-aggressive cleaning solution enables it to penetrate fabrics and remove soils without chemically interfering with the textile fibers themselves, helping clothes to maintain their “like-new” look and feel.”

This revolutionary cleaning technique will be on full display when Lapels Dry Cleaning of Hingham opens. A Grand Opening is planned for October 25.

Hours for the store will be Monday through Friday, 7 am to 7 pm; Saturday 8 am to 5 pm; and Sunday, 12 pm to 3 pm.

Beyond the environmentally friendly cleaning process, Lapels Dry Cleaning is known for its customer service—something that’s genuinely appreciated by its customers. To that end, Lapels Dry Cleaning has received WickedLocal’s Reader’s Choice Award for Best Dry Cleaner in eight of the Massachusetts towns they serve.

Lapels offers its customers Automatic Rewards earning them credit towards free dry cleaning for every dollar they spend, Loyalty Programs, a VIP Program which eliminates the need to wait in line and the use of a 24-Hour Drop Off Service. Same day service is also available with pick-up after 5 pm.

“We would like to congratulate Ben on the opening of his second Lapels Dry Cleaning location. Much like the citizens of Hanover, we know the people of Hingham are are going to love what Lapels has to offer,” said Kevin Dubois, CEO of Lapels Dry Cleaning, which has its corporate headquarters in Hanover, Massachusetts.

ORANGE PARK, FL and HANOVER, MA…

Lapels Dry Cleaning, an innovative, environmentally friendly dry cleaning company headquartered in Hanover, Massachusetts, will open its second location in the state of Florida on September 20 at 1075 Oakleaf Plantation Parkway, Orange Park, FL.Owned by Mike and Carla Lane, Lapels Dry Cleaning of Orange Park represents the second of seven locations the couple plans on opening in the greater Jacksonville area.

Hours for the store will be Monday through Friday, 7 am to 7 pm; Saturday 8 am to 5 pm; and Sunday, 12 pm to 3 pm. A Grand Opening is planned for October 11.

“We’re extremely pleased to bring the future of dry cleaning to Orange Park,” said Mike Lane. “The initial response from customers at our first store, Lapels Dry Cleaning of Fleming Island, has been incredibly favorable and we anticipate a similar reaction from the people of Orange Park.”

Lapels Dry Cleaning of Orange Park uses GreenEarth Cleaning Solution to clean garments. GreenEarth represents the dry cleaning industry’s only non-toxic cleaning alternative. GreenEarth silicone’s unique, non-aggressive cleaning solution enables it to penetrate fabrics and remove soils without chemically interfering with the textile fibers themselves, helping to maintain their “like-new” look and feel.

Using the latest technology in equipment, along with the GreenEarth cleaning solution, Lapels is one of the few dry cleaners in Florida to be able to boast that there is no hazardous waste in their process.

Beyond the environmentally friendly cleaning process is Lapels Dry Cleaning’s customer service. Lapels customers are greeted to a warm and inviting reception area, with friendly customer service representatives, and alteration services.

Lapels offers its customers Automatic Rewards earning them credit towards free dry cleaning for every dollar they spend, Loyalty Programs, a VIP Program which eliminates the need to wait in line and the use of a 24 Hour Drop Off Service. Same day service is also available with pick-up after 5 pm.

“Beyond bringing an environmentally friendlier way to dry clean clothes to the area, the new Lapels Dry Cleaning stores are bringing jobs,” said Kevin Dubois, CEO of Lapels Dry Cleaning. “We expect to add a total of almost 50 jobs to the greater Jacksonville area once Mike and Carla open all seven locations.”
