VoiceNation, the industry leader in live answering and virtual receptionist services, has made the hospital stays of dozens of youngsters at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta (Children’s), a little bit brighter.

May 19, VoiceNation hosted a Luau-themed party in “The Zone” (the dedicated play area) at  Children’s Scottish Rite hospital for 25 pediatric patients (of all ages) and their families. Everyone was adorned with leis and enjoyed games, prizes, crafts, gift bags and plenty of food.

“We wanted to show our support by providing a fun diversion for these brave, young patients. Most of the children in attendance were between six and 12 years old, and despite what they were going through, brought a lot of positive energy. There was a lot of excitement in the room,” said LeeAnna Channell of VoiceNation.

Through the Employee Volunteer Program at VoiceNation, Outreach Coordinator Amber Mooney coordinated the party with VoiceNation team members LeeAnna Channell, Emily Everett, Brian Martin, Caitlin Redd, Caitlin Blanton, Marie Owen, Dominique Newton and Caprece Scott.

The festive children’s activities included pineapple bowling, octopus ring toss, and shark attack corn hole. The children were also able to craft jellyfish to hang in their rooms and create their own lei necklaces.

“Despite everything they are going through, the kids still like to play, laugh and do crafts,” said VoiceNation’s Dominique Newton. “I feel that they really enjoyed the activities, and one little girl even mentioned that it felt good that people wanted to help them.”

“The VoiceNation team made a tremendous impact on more than 25 of our patients and their family members at Children’s. Because they hosted such a great patient event, kids who are going through what might be the most challenging time in their life had smiles on their faces,” said Michelle Bennett, Program Coordinator at Children’s.  “At Children’s, we know there is more to getting better than just seeing a doctor, which is why the generosity of companies like VoiceNation is so important to us. Thanks to VoiceNation for partnering with us in our mission to make kids better today and healthier tomorrow!”

South Coast Improvement, Co. wins bid on MIT’s Stata Center project

June 22, 2015 //  by admin

MIT's_Stata_CenterCAMBRIDGE, MA AND MARION, MA…

South Coast Improvement Company (SCI), a design-build general contractor serving New England and the Mid-Atlantic states, was recently contracted by Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) for a renovation project at the Ray and Maria Stata Center at the school’s campus in Cambridge, Massachusetts.

The $170,000 project calls for the conversion of a library into office space on the 7th floor of the building. Additional office space on 8th floor will be renovated.

“Over the years, we’ve done a considerable amount of work at colleges and universities in the greater Boston area but this is our first at MIT,” said Tom Quinlan, president of South Coast Improvement Company. “We’re delighted to bring our expertise to this world-renowned school and hope that it’s just the beginning of a mutually satisfying relationship.”

South Coast Improvement began work on the Stata Center project the first week of June. Completion is set for mid-August.

Work on the MIT project will be undertaken by South Coast Improvement’s private school division provides private schools. This special division offers clients the benefits of a big time general contractor with the capability to streamline smaller projects under tight deadlines.

“As a company, we routinely work on six-figure projects, with our highest being a $4 million project for an assisted living facility. We have those systems in place so that we can work on several smaller jobs at a school at once,” said Quinlan. “That’s how we have been able to get a lot of repeat business.”

That repeat business includes projects at Boston College, Boston University, Northeastern University, Mount Ida College and Dean College. Those projects have ranged from a new video room for the Men’s Locker Room at BC’s Conte Forum to conference room and new President’s office at Mount Ida to a server room for the Kostas Homeland Security Research Facility at Northeastern.

Incubator Plan and Fast Casual franchise Between Rounds Café offer Fresh Start

June 17, 2015 //  by admin

location imageFast casual dining is the fastest growing segment in the restaurant industry. Looking to get in on the ground floor? Between Rounds Bakery Sandwich Café, a unique fast casual bakery café and bagel shop with locations throughout Connecticut, has rolled out an “Incubator Plan”, a low-entry Kiosk franchise option with a reduced franchise fee.

How it Works

With Between Rounds’ Incubator Plan, the franchise fee for a Between Rounds Kiosk store has been reduced from $20K to $5K. The franchise fee covers hard costs such as legal work, store design and menu board design.

Between Rounds’ Kiosk business model is unique in that it enables convenience and gas station store owners/operators (including third party owners who pay rent) to increase profits from their existing locations by offering Between Rounds fresh baked bagels and baked goods as well as breakfast and lunch sandwiches, wraps, salads, soups and specialty coffees. Ultimately, store traffic increases and leads to additional sales from products that are already sold. Patrons will enjoy Between Rounds’ neighborhood feel, their modern, comfortable interior and delicious food. Plus all locations offer free Wi-Fi for customers.

The overall investment for a Between Rounds Kiosk is approximately $120K. Financing for Kiosk operations is available through third parties.

Between Rounds franchised their first Kiosk store model in Tolland in 2013. That successful franchise, owned and operated by Sami Kahn, is located at 206 Merrow Road, at the Citgo Express Gas Station.  According to Kahn, “I had looked into a number of coffee and fast food opportunities and was very impressed with Between Rounds from the start.  The products are very high quality and very fresh because they are made every day.  That is my main motivation – to provide the best product possible to customers.”

For more information about the Between Rounds Bakery Sandwich Café opportunities, visit http://franchise.betweenroundsbagels.com.

BOSTON, BRAINTREE AND QUINCY, MA…

Baker, Braverman & Barbadoro P.C., a dynamic full-service law firm with a team of attorneys advising individuals, businesses and families throughout Quincy, Braintree, the South Shore and metro Boston areas, recently formalized a special division for clients interested in attaining certification status through the Massachusetts’ Supplier Diversity Office (SDO). Firm attorneys and legal staff working in this division have experience and understanding of the SDO marketplace.

SDO, formerly known as the State Office of Minority and Women Business Assistance, is an agency within the Massachusetts state government that helps promote the development of business enterprises and non-profit organizations owned and operated by minorities or women. A key component of SDO’s mandate is to certify companies that meet SDO’s criteria for women and minority-owned businesses and to enable such businesses to participate in affirmative business opportunities with government agencies.

“SDO certification provides an important competitive advantage for companies bidding to do business with state and local government agencies. For example, the Commonwealth of Massachusetts spends more than $4 billion each year doing business with private companies. More than $240 million of this amount is targeted specifically to SDO certified businesses,” said Theresa Barbadoro, Esq., an attorney with Baker, Braverman & Barbadoro, P.C. “So although we have been working with SDO businesses for the past decade, the new division will enable us to better serve these clients as our employees working in the division will have specific experience and training in SDO certification.”

Companies that receive SDO certification are listed in a directory of certified minority and women business enterprises and non-profit organizations. In effect, the certification makes SDO companies the preferred vendors for public and private companies have pledged to seek out women and minority owned business vendors.

Suffolk County Constable’s Office, Inc. (“SCCO”) recently gained SDO certification with the assistance of the Firm’s new division. SCCO provides warrant apprehension, civil process serving, evictions and judgment recovery services.

“We have already seen an increase in our business with the SDO certification,” said Suzanne Morrison, the owner and president of SCCO, “we are excited as we know that the SDO certification will continue to open up new opportunities for us as we grow our business.”

For more information about Baker, Braverman & Barbadoro’s SDO division, please call (781) 202-6929.
