Autumn Safety Check List offered by FirstLight Home Care

October 24, 2019 //  by admin

When leaves begin to change color and bright summer suns become a memory, older adults are faced with a new set of challenges. Wendy Adlerstein, LSW of FirstLight Home Care of West Suburban Boston has helped put together an Autumn Safety Check List so you make sure aging parents, grandparents and other seniors in your life are protected.

Maintain Heat

– Reduce risk of hypothermia by making sure older adults’ homes are insulated, stocked up on heating fuel and have functioning HVAC systems. If their fireplace isn’t going to be used, close the flue so that heat won’t escape.

Address Fire Hazards

– Electric blankets and space heaters can help keep up older adults’ body heat, but they also pose a fire risk. Make sure these devices are working properly and are not showing wear on their cords or other electric components. Consider investing in a modern space heater that turns off when it gets too hot or tips over. Power-strips with timers are a potential solution for these devices as well.

Eliminate Debris

– Leaves, sticks and other Autumn refuse in walkways and other frequently traveled areas can result in slips and tripping. Keep the property safe and aesthetically pleasing at the same time by racking it or removing debris with a leaf blower.

Fight the Flu

– Catching the flu can have serious consequences for seniors. Vaccination is the best line of defense against influenza.  You should also encourage older adults to avoid those who are already sick, wash their hands and keep surfaces clean with disinfectant. They can also improve their immune system with improved diet and exercise.

Breathe Easy

– Maintain proper home ventilation by removing debris from vents. You should also test carbon monoxide detectors and replace their batteries.

The Brother That Just Do Gutters Open South Dallas Fort Worth Location

October 24, 2019 //  by admin

Home and business owners in and around Texas’ twin cities of Dallas and Fort Worth can now have their gutters installed and serviced by one of the nation’s fastest home improvement companies. Local father-son team Jeff and Jamison Miller have just opened The Brothers That Just Do Gutters South Dallas Fort Worth location. They were born in Dallas and have always lived close-by – currently residing in nearby Ennis, Tx.

Jeff and Jamison decided to leave their previous independent gutter business behind and open a Brothers That Just Do Gutters to better realize their financial and lifestyle goals while improving the level of service they offer their customers. Jamison explains what makes The Brothers That Just Do Gutters different from other contractors in the area, “Like the slogan says, we are ‘Reinventing Contractor Service.’ We go above and beyond throughout the whole project with the client. The customer gets a sense of comfort dealing with us. We are taking the headache out of working on one of your most valuable investments.”

The Brothers That Just Do Gutters system is what most attracted Jeff and Jamison to the company. They are excited to operate their business with increased role-based organization and a clear path to scalability. Instead of spending their time stretched thin between jobsites, the truck and the office, they can focus on building their customer base, fleet of vehicles and team of professionals – and even have a few moments left over to sit back and enjoy their success.

The arrival of The Brothers That Just Do Gutters South Dallas Fort Worth location couldn’t come soon enough. Long droughts followed by epic rainfalls as well as significant hail put high stress on Texas gutter systems and the buildings they are installed on. The high clay content in Dallas’ soil causes it to swell when exposed to excessive moisture. A properly functioning gutter system moves water away from the soil closest to your home’s foundation to prevent structural damage. Preemptive measures like gutter installation and maintenance will prevent costly future repairs.

The Brothers That Just Do Gutters Story

The Brothers That Just Do Gutters was born out of Ken Parson’s vision for a better contracting service. While working as a gutter installer for an independent company during summers between teaching history in the mid-1990’s, he determined exactly what qualities such an operation should embody. In 1999 his plans were solidified with the opening of what is now called The Brothers That Just Do Gutters.

Ken was able to recruit his brother Ryan, trained and educated as a graphic designer, to join him as Chief Solutionist of their growing operation. The siblings haven’t looked back since.

Fast forward to 2019. Ken and Ryan have helped dozens of other motivated individuals, partners and couples realize the American Dream by opening The Brothers That Just Do Gutters franchises of their own. Today, there are 11 Brothers Gutter franchise locations and one corporate own location including Hudson Valley, NY, New Milford, CT, Monmouth, NJ, Lehigh Valley, PA, Richmond, VA, Lynchburg, VA, Virginia Beach, VA, Jacksonville, FL, Seattle, WA, San Antonio, TX, South Charlotte, NC and Columbus, GA. Their proprietary system enables speedy growth and ample return on investment with direct training, ongoing consultation and strategic marketing.

Moo-ve to the head of the class. World Dairy Expo Raises a Glass to Crescent Ridge Dairy for the Best Milk in North America.

October 22, 2019 //  by admin

The World Dairy Expo in Madison, Wisconsin is the largest dairy focused trade show in the world. Since 1967, their Champion Dairy Product Contest has given dairy farms the opportunity to label their products the best in North America. This Year Crescent Ridge Dairy of Sharon, Massachusetts, took home four first place designations in the World Dairy Expo Championship’s 2019 Dairy Product Contest.

Crescent Ridge Dairy’s 2% white milk, whole milk, mint cookies & cream ice cream and coconut almond bar ice cream each were recognized as the best in their respected categories. Crescent Ridge Dairy’s whole milk not only secured the award for 1st place, but also received an unprecedented perfect judgment score of 100. The brand’s 1% low-fat chocolate milk, coffee milk, white peppermint stick ice cream and chocolate pecan chip frozen yogurt were also recognized – landing within the top three spots of their divisions.

“We are delighted to be recognized by our peers,” noted Mark Parrish, the third generation to operate the family business.  He added, “These accolades are hard earned by our entire staff. We are proud to share our delicious dairy with customers throughout the Boston Area every day via our dairy bar, delivery routes and select retail partners.”

Crescent Ridge Dairy’s success at the World Dairy Expo Championship is just the latest chapter in the brand’s praise for their quality products. Ever since Crescent Ridge Dairy began making premium ice cream at their humble Sharon, Massachusetts dairy farm, their menu has been regarded as a scoop above the cups and cones of other creameries. Demand for their summer-time treats led to the opening of their dairy bar that overlooks grazing cattle in 1968. Since then, the popularity of Crescent Ridge Dairy’s ice cream has grown from a cult following of regional connoisseurs and travelers to international recognition from some of the world’s most respected publications.

In 2009, National Geographic Magazine’s The 10 Best of Everything Ultimate Guide for Travelers featured Crescent Ridge as one of the 10 Best Ice Creams in the World. They would receive this same honor again in 2012. That same year, Food & Wine Magazine cited Crescent Ridge Dairy as one of the Best Ice Cream Spots in the U.S. In 2014, Men’s Journal would inform anyone left who wasn’t already aware of Crescent Ridge Dairy’s reputation by featuring them in their 27 Best Ice Cream Shops in America article.

Taste the hype for yourself. Crescent Ridge Dairy’s products are available for home delivery in the Greater Boston area and directly from the dairy bar located on their Sharon, Massachusetts Farm. You can also find them on the shelves of Stop & Shops, Shaw’s / Star Markets, Roche Brothers, Whole Foods and other major retailers throughout New England.

The Crescent Ridge Story

Malby and Mildred Parrish started Crescent Ridge in 1932 when they purchased the 44-acre plot farmland on Sharon’s historic Bay Road and made it suitable to grow crops and raise cows for milk. Back then, Malby was able to make his rounds delivering fresh dairy to the community with just one dependable 1928 Chevrolet truck. In less than 10 years, the operation had achieved enough success to justify the installation of a modern pasteurization and bottling plant. By 1953 Crescent Ridge controlled a fleet of milk trucks that served not only families in Sharon, but the neighboring towns of Canton, Stoughton, Norwood, Walpole and Westwood, Massachusetts as well.

Crescent Ridge opened their first Dairy Bar on their original plot of land in 1968. Its popularity has only grown since then, with the ice cream it serves winning the reputation of the best in New England amongst locals and seasoned travelers alike. Years later, National Geographic would name it one of The 10 Best Ice Creams in the World. This expansion and the loyal following Crescent Ridge had developed helped the brand weather the troubled economic climate of the 1970 and prosper into the 1980’s. By the early 1990’s Crescent Ridge began expanding its menu starting with fresh squeezed orange juice.

Mark Parrish became the third generation to operate the family business in 1998. This same year, he made significant investments into Crescent Ridge’s infrastructure by expanding their warehouse, freezer and lab space and making updates to their milk plant. Mark continues to innovate and grow the Crescent Ridge brand. Their products can now be found on the shelves of major stores like Stop & Shop, Whole Foods, Shaw’s / Star Market, Roche Bros, Big Y, Boston Public Market and others. He has teamed up with other local businesses and diversified his own operation to feature fresh seafood, grass-fed beef, pork, chicken, produce, maple syrup and other artisan products in their catalogue.

For more information about home delivery, retail locations and the onsite dairy bar, please click to https://www.crescentridgedairybar.com/ or call (781) 784-274.  Visit the cows and staff at 407 Bay Road, Sharon, MA.

Killing Two Bugs with One Inspection. Beaumont area company Bundles Home Inspection and Termite Inspection.

October 15, 2019 //  by admin

Whether buying, selling or staying in a property in Texas, it’s important to have a proper home inspection. A licensed home inspector can make sure your current dwelling or potential home is free from any structural, electrical, plumbing, HVAC issues and more. While these criteria are essential to determining the health of a property and to remain in compliance with state laws, other critical features may be left unchecked. For example, WDIs (Wood Destroying Insect reports) are not required in standard home inspections.

Termites can cause health problems to occupants and can compromise the structure of homes past the point of repair. Rich and Heather Placette, owners of both Texas Country Inspection and Texas Bug Masters based in Beaumont, Texas area are addressing this issue by increasing convenience and reducing costs for current and potential homeowners by bundling traditional home inspection with WDIs. As both home inspection and pest control specialists, their team will make sure your property meets all state required specifications as well of a host of other essential auxiliary criteria for one low price.

Rich explains, “Most homeowners assume that passing a standard inspection indicates a perfect health in a property. Years or sometimes just months down the road, they’ll discover their home has been compromised by a termite infestation and is no longer safe to live. Sometimes their only option is to demolish.”

You can ignore some problems – but termite infestation is not one of them. The sooner you discover a presence or termite damage the better. When caught early, termites can be eradicated before major structural damage occurs. If you wait long enough, load bearing beams, walls and your roof could be weakened to the point of collapsing on you and your family – if your home isn’t condemned first.

Texas Country Inspection and Texas Bug Masters were founded by  lifetime residents of Lumberton, Texas, Rich and Heather Placette to serve the needs of their neighbors in the Greater Beaumont region. Recognizing that many of their customers are in need of both business’s services they began offering special prices for bundling. You can reach Texas Bug Masters by calling (409) 548-2713 and Texas Country Inspection by calling (409) 651 6539. Or visit https://texasbugmasters.com and https://texascountryinspection.com/.
