Marshfield Country Club donates $15K to local service organizations to support families and individuals in need

December 29, 2020 //  by admin

Marshfield Country Club members donated a total of $15,000 to the Marshfield Food Pantry, Marshfield Community Christmas and the Boys & Girls Club of Marshfield.

In early November, the Board of Governors of Marshfield Country Club launched a drive for donations for needy families. In lieu of having their annual parties due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the membership decided to help the many families and individuals who have fallen on very difficult times in Marshfield.

“We are so grateful of their members and staff support for the kids and families who need us the most during this pandemic,” said Jim Bunnell, CEO of the Boys & Girls Club of Marshfield. “They are a true community partner!”

Supporting Youth, Families and the Community in an Uncertain Time

The Boys & Girls Club of Marshfield is working with the Marshfield Food Pantry, the Town of Marshfield, guidelines from the state and the Marshfield Public Schools and other service organizations to provide critical services the community needs to support children and families over the short- and long-term. Among the steps they have taken to meet ongoing needs include: food distribution to food insecure families (hundreds of healthy meals per week in the form of Grab & Go meal boxes, drive-thru dinners and more); providing a safe place for kids while many parents and guardians return to work; and serving as a resource for the Board of Health and other departments to further assist families. Currently, the Boys & Girls Club of Marshfield provides breakfast before school, remote support learning during the day, and traditional after school care for 100 students per day.

Greater Boston Food Bank collaborates on designing the new “cross-dock” with Proactive Philanthropy to expand outreach and feed more families.

December 28, 2020 //  by admin

With a little help from their friends, The Greater Boston Food Bank (GBFB) is greatly expanding the number of households they are able to serve with the redesign and expanded services of a new “cross-dock” by their distribution partner Proactive Philanthropy located in the North End of New Bedford at 25 – 51 King Street, New Bedford, MA 02745.

The pandemic has resulted in a dramatic increase in food insecurity throughout Eastern Massachusetts, the South Coast and Cape Cod. Working together, the two organizations are redesigning the facility in New Bedford to add food storage, refrigeration, work areas to prepare family-sized food packages, and loading docks to serve the estimated 66% more people who are now food insecure.

Proactive Philanthropy’s expanded 25,000 square foot cross-dock accommodates four 18-wheeler, trailer trucks on a weekly basis.

“This new cross-dock distribution set up on the South Coast has been a critical resource, helping GBFB keep up with the increased demand for food,” said Jonathan Tetrault, Vice President of Community Impact at GBFB. “The streamlined and expansive space has really made a significant difference, helping to save valuable time and money for our member agencies in the region.”

Ed McPherson of Proactive Philanthropy added, “We are delighted that we have the capacity, knowledge and capabilities to help The Greater Boston Food Bank and our South Coast community.  We look forward to continue looking for additional opportunities to partner with GBFB to help serve our neighbors in need.”

About Greater Boston Food Bank

The Greater Boston Food Bank (GBFB) is the largest hunger-relief organization in New England and among the largest food banks in the country. In response to the economic impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, GBFB distributed the equivalent of nearly 82 million meals in 2020 through its network of 600 dedicated food distribution partners and programs in the 190 cities and towns across Eastern Massachusetts. A member of Feeding America, the nation’s food bank network, GBFB’s mission is to end hunger here and it is committed to providing at least three healthy meals a day to everyone in need. From ugly ducklings to swans. Thirty-Eighth Avenue Photography transforms winners of “Ugly LinkedIn Profile Photo” Contest.

December 22, 2020 //  by admin

Looking like your better self on LinkedIn is possible.  And necessary.

Winners of the recent “Ugly LinkedIn Profile Photo” contest agree.  Brian MacFee of Systems Support, Inc. based in Marshfield; Attorney Susan Pieri of Marshfield and Rich Archibald of AFLAC and located in Pembroke are now looking great.   See for yourself on LinkedIn.

Brian MacFee commented, “I’m not vain, but I am concerned with my appearance and conveying that I am open, friendly and approachable.  The new photo conveys that in a glance.”

Susan Pieri added, “I came to the photoshoot with three outfit variations, ready to have fun.  Debi did not disappoint!  She has an artist’s eye and a friendly manner.  The time flew by.  Now I have three wonderful shots to choose from to replace the one currently on LinkedIn.   Although, on one of them I’m told I look too happy for a lawyer.”

Rich Archibald noted, “The difference between my old photo and the new, improved one are night and day.  I look more vibrant, professional and ready to go.”

According to the champion of the photo contest Debi Cramer, founder and principal photographer at https://www.38thavenuephotography.com/ in Plymouth, MA, “Let’s literally face it.  Most people form an immediate impression of you by your headshot.  A corporate portrait that is outdated, odd or just omitted is an unnecessary turnoff.”

Some executives favor their high school yearbook likeness. Others just choose to ignore the aging process. Either way, an outdated profile photo is not the best way to represent yourself on LinkedIn, the world’s largest professional network.

Debi Cramer advises, “A LinkedIn profile photo is also not the best place to show off a cherished boat, sports car or pet. It’s okay to wear ski goggles if you’re a ski resort owner, but not okay if you’re a ski enthusiast and your profession is selling life insurance. It should be noted that NOT having a profile photo doesn’t work in your favor either. Will fellow networkers and recruiters want to connect? Perhaps not. Those who do have a profile photo on LinkedIn may receive up to 21 times more profile views than those lacking profile photos (according to https://www.linkedin.com/).”

Drive-Thru Polar Express at the Boys & Girls Club of Marshfield on December 19th

December 9, 2020 //  by admin

The Boys & Girls Club of Marshfield and the Molly Fitzgerald Memorial Fund will hold a special Drive-Thru Polar Express event at the Club, 37 Proprietor’s Drive in Marshfield, on Saturday, December 19, 2020 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.

Children of all ages will enjoy a magical Drive-Thru Polar Express with multiple “station stops” for goodies and greetings from Santa’s Elves. After greetings from the conductor, families drive through to each stop which plays out the story line. Once stops have been made at all the festive stations, families have the option to wrap up their adventure with a safe, socially distant photo with Santa.

Special guests, the Marshfield High School dance team and the Forbes School of Irish Step Dancing, will perform during the event.

Santa and Mrs. Claus made an appearance last year at the Boys & Girls Club of Marshfield (shown) and will be back this year for a magical Drive-Thru Polar Express at the Club on December 19.

This event is FREE to all children.

Staff and volunteers will be physically distanced, wear masks and follow safety guidelines. Families will stay safely in their cars, except during the socially distanced photo with Santa.

“The Boys & Girls Club of Marshfield is excited to work with the Molly Fund and offer families this socially distanced, drive-thru alternative,” said Jim Bunnell, CEO of the Boys & Girls Club of Marshfield. “We’ve taken a creative approach, based on the circumstances, to give kids a safe, fun and joyful holiday event. The format is similar to our Drive-Thru Grab & Go Trick or Treat held on Halloween which was a great success, with more than 500 children coming through. We anticipate a similar turnout for the Drive-Thru Polar Express.”

“The Molly Fitzgerald Memorial Fund and the Boys & Girls Club of Marshfield have worked together for many years to improve the lives of Marshfield’s young people. We are partnering up again to bring some holiday cheer to the good girls and boys and the Drive-Thru Polar Express. The Boys & Girls Club has been at the forefront of assisting families during the COVID crisis and the Molly Fund is very happy to have the opportunity to help the Club make our kids’ lives better,” said Jim Fitzgerald of the Molly Fund.

Sponsors for the Drive-Thru Polar Express include Tiny & Sons Glass Co. (title sponsor), Coastal Nissan, Curry Hardware, John Foster Lumber, Co., Modera Marshfield, Rockland Trust Company, SIGMA Mechanical Services and South Shore Children’s Dentistry. To become a sponsor, email the Boys & Girls Club of Marshfield at info@bgcmarshfield.com

Happy New Year! Celebrate with the 3Ms (manageable, modest marketing) Plan for 2021.

December 8, 2020 //  by admin

Most of us would like to put 2020 behind us.

One way, probably the best way, to do that is to create a manageable, modest marketing PLAN for 2021.

First, set aside at least eight percent of your gross revenue for marketing. You don’t show up to a gun fight with a knife.

Second, choose ONLY four channels that you know work for you. Don’t go wide, go deep.

For business-to-business companies that usually includes –
• LinkedIn – Post weekly not only to your company page and personal page, but Groups as well.
• E-newsletter – Monthly
• Refreshing your website with relevant blogs, news items and events. – Weekly
• Achieve press coverage monthly with tips, topical subjects, riding along with stories in the news, personnel announcements, anniversaries, additional services, new divisions, webinars, etc.

Third, take a risk and add something new.
• Reach out and start “guesting” on podcasts targeted to your niche.
• Draft a modest E-book that positions you as “the” expert on your topic.
• Add a customer review program to increase your positive reviews.

Fourth, assign a team to meet monthly for one hour to implement the program and to keep each other accountable.

Fifth, continue to update a one or two-page spreadsheet that tracks –
• Projects
• Assigned to
• Date due
• Current status

Sixth, track success.
• Set up Google Alerts to track your company, your name, your competitor.
• Review E-Newsletter opens and clicks
• Review website Google Analytics
• Track your LinkedIn engagement

Now you are on track for a robust 2021.

Need help with some of the planning and implementation? Contact us today for a complimentary 45 minute consultation.

November 30, 2020 //  by admin

IP69K Series bearings are composed of corrosion resistant stainless steel, making them highly durable, long-lasting, and easy to sanitize. They are compatible with all major housing configurations and come in sizes ranging from 201 to 208 (1/2″ to 1-1/2″).

Unique Benefits

Key features of this bearing are numerous and include: Meets FDA IP69K requirements; superior protection against water and dust intrusion; unique triple-lip and molded rubber composition; a “lubed for life” feature eliminates lube holes and other potential intrusion areas; and stainless steel exterior makeup.
