Third Book by Plymouth, MA Retirement Guru and Author Now Available

February 23, 2023 //  by admin

Baby Boomers are retiring faster than expected, largely due to COVID-19 implications. In 2020, 56 percent of Boomers were drawing Social Security prior to full retirement age. In 2021, that number increased to 58 percent.

“In short, it looks like we’re going in the wrong direction,” explained nationally-known speaker, author, retirement planning guru and Boomer Marcia Mantell. “With Boomers retiring sooner than planned, they’re taking on some additional risk. They’re adding years to their planning horizon and may need to stretch their finances a bit too thin.  We don’t control inflation and market volatility, but we are in control of figuring out how to pay for these extra years of retirement.”

But where to start? What if there was a blueprint, or better yet, an easy-to-follow recipe for planning your retirement years?

Cookin’ Up Your Retirement Plan, Mantell’s newly released third book, is a rousing departure from the typical retirement planning books. It’s an easy-to-digest discussion guide that offers up the “ingredients” for a successful transition into your retirement years. And includes worksheets and a 10-year outlook so each person can really see where they are heading.

As the author of two other retirement planning books, What’s the Deal with Retirement Planning for Women (Rethink Press), and What’s the Deal with Social Security for Women (Rethink Press), Mantell was looking to create a better way for fellow Boomers, and even Gen Xers who are now in their 50s, to embrace the idea of reinventing retirement well before they actually leave their job behind.

Marcia Mantell

“We’ve made it too hard for most people to figure out their retirement. There’s no fun and nothing familiar when you’re making the transition from real life to retirement life. This book is meant to get you at your own kitchen table to talk about the possibilities. Then pull in the realities of living with no paycheck,” said Mantell. “So many near-retirees I’ve talked to are truly unprepared for life in retirement. They say they’ll travel, but then what?”

In her new book, Mantell walks individuals and couples through specific steps to create their own “recipe” for retirement, layer by layer, like making a lasagna. Cookin’ Up Your Retirement Plan includes:

•    Six sections filled with discussion guides and worksheets
•    Terrific resources and ideas to explore retirement options
•    A unique Plan A, B, +C for Boomers to create their unique “retirement menu”

With all the different ingredients needed in a retirement plan, Mantell’s discussion guide is in a familiar format. This retirement “cookbook” covers topics that boomers should be talking about with a cup of tea or coffee…or a glass of wine.

Cookin’ Up Your Retirement Plan retails for $19.99 and is available for purchase at Amazon.com and Barnesandnoble.com.

About Marcia Mantell
For over 30 years, Marcia Mantell has helped the country’s foremost financial services firms and advisors increase their knowledge of complex retirement concepts and regulations.  She has a remarkable ability to translate those concepts into everyday language. With a deep knowledge of Social Security and Medicare, she works with advisors and their clients to make a successful transition into retirement.

She was named an IA25 Honoree by ThinkAdvisor in 2021—one of the “advisors, experts and leaders in financial services who are pushing the industry forward.”

Mantell is also a renowned speaker who has spent the past 20+ years presenting retirement topics in a highly-engaging style to Baby Boomer and financial advisor audiences across the country.

Mantell is the author What’s the Deal with Retirement Planning for Women (Rethink Press), What’s the Deal with Social Security for Women (Rethink Press) and her latest book, Cookin’ Up Your Retirement Plandiscussion guide. Mantell imparts her wisdom of all things retirement with the Baby Boomer generation, particularly Boomer women, in her books as well as in her popular blog, BoomerRetirementBriefs.com.

Mantell owns and operates Mantell Retirement Consulting, Inc. a retirement education and marketing communications firm based in Plymouth, MA. She builds and conducts innovative retirement income planning workshops and programs for advisors and their clients and for employers who want to help their employees be better prepared for retirement.

True Repertory Theatre, Kingston, Mass. brings poignant and witty Rabbit Hole to the stage.

February 17, 2023 //  by admin

DATELINE: KINGSTON, MA…

The True Repertory Theatre announces its next production, David Lindsay-Abaire’s, 2007 Pulitzer Prize winning drama, Rabbit Hole.

Rabbit Hole will be performed at The Beal House, 222 Main St. in Kingston, on March 17, 18 & 24 at 8 PM and March 19, 25 & 26 at 3 PM. Tickets are $25 for general admission and $22 for seniors and students. Buy tickets at https://www.truereptheatre.com/impostertickets or at the door (cash and check only).

The play focuses on Becca and Howie, eight months after a shocking and sudden event upends their otherwise perfect life. As they navigate their new normal, they must learn to cope with well-intentioned family, uncomfortable friends, and each other, as they try to rediscover that lining of hope that used to surround their marriage.

“This is such a well written play. The playwright has an incredible ability to wade deep into dramatic water and then suddenly provide the audience unexpected laughter. It is so true to how we experience and cope with tragedy,” said director, Victoria Bond.

Donald Sheehan, True Rep’s Artistic Director, who plays Howie, notes, “This play asks us to confront our understanding of grief and how we process it. Given all that the community has been through, it feels like the right time to share this play.”

Through their Project 719 initiative, True Rep encourages local organizations providing services thematically related to a production, to become involved. For Rabbit Hole, True Rep is proud to connect with Hope Floats Healing and Wellness Center in Kingston. At every performance, True Rep will promote awareness of the center, and their services, that are helping so many to process their grief.

The cast includes Lyra Brennan (Centerville resident) as Becca, Donald Sheehan (Pembroke resident) as Howie, Sarah Gruber (Cohasset resident) as Izzy, Lisa Caron Driscoll (Marshfield resident) as Nat, and Patrick McCarthy (Dorchester resident) as Jason. The show is directed by Victoria Bond (Plymouth resident) and stage managed by Anthea Diamond (Kingston resident).
