Father's Day

Know a Great Single Dad? Nominate Him as eLove’s “America’s Favorite Single Dad”

June 2, 2011 //  by admin

Know a great single dad who hasn’t yet met that special someone, but would like to? eLove encourages you to nominate him as “America’s Favorite Single Dad”.

eLove, the fastest growing matchmaking firm in the country with over 50 matchmaking offices nationwide and home offices in Norwell, MA and Los Angeles, CA, is holding the “America’s Favorite Single Dad” contest to recognize and reward a hardworking, stand-up single dad, who just can’t seem to catch a break when it comes to meeting that special gal.

“There are a lot of attractive, funny, nice guys who really have trouble putting themselves out there and meeting someone. They’re not considered ‘bad boys’ or ‘players’, but are truly great guys. ‘America’s Favorite Single Dad’ is an unsung hero – that single father who slogs it out at work and then comes home and cares for his child(ren), who doesn’t get much time to date,” explained Julie Ferman, nationally renowned matchmaker who runs eLove’s offices in the L.A. area.

Three winners will be selected among all entrants, but only one will be named “America’s Favorite Single Dad” and receive a free full membership to eLove. The second place winner will receive an iPad and third place winner will receive an iPhone.

“Our mission is to provide singles with that all-important initial connection with the right people and simplify the love search process for the relationship-minded,” noted Paul A. Falzone, CEO of eLove. “We sit down with our clients; get to know them better – their goals, dreams and expectations – and help them make successful connections.”

“America’s Favorite Single Dad” nominations can be made by a third party or men may actually nominate themselves. Nominees must be at least 18 years of age and single.

Tell us about that great single dad you know. Nominate “America’s Favorite Single Dad” by sending an email to FathersDay@elove.com.

eLove Honors Single Dads with Complimentary Dating Membership

June 3, 2010 //  by admin

Did you know that the number of single dads in the U.S. has increased to nearly 2.5 million? (U.S. Census Bureau, 2006) As Father’s Day quickly approaches, it’s time to honor those special guys who “step up to the plate”.

eLove, the first company within the dating industry to offer both online dating and matchmaking services tailored around their clients’ stage of life, is offering complimentary eLove Select memberships to Boston and Baltimore area single fathers who set an appointment during the month of June.

An eLove Select membership is designed for singles who are ready to take positive steps to finding their perfect match, yet who are not quite ready to work one-on-one with an eLove matchmaker. An eLove Select membership helps singles make a strong first impression by separating and distinguishing them from the online dating crowd with a Platinum Certified seal. The seal is indicative of three important factors online daters seek while searching for their perfect match: that a member has been verified by eLove; s/he is motivated and serious about finding a relationship and s/he has completed an identity and background check. This all results in more contacts and more first dates for eLove Select members.

As a special complimentary service to eLove Select members, they will be made available to eLove matchmakers as possible candidates to eLove’s private “search” clientele. This expands eLove Select members’ opportunity to find the right one.

“We’re looking to help out the single dad who is ready for a relationship,” explained Paul Falzone, CEO of eLove.

Single dads from the Boston and Baltimore area can simply call Kim at 800-713-3317 to set an appointment.

In addition to the complimentary eLove Select membership, Falzone, who is a father of two, offers several tips to women dating who are dating a single dad on how to celebrate Father’s day:

Be sure to check with a single Dad first. Before you make any plans with your single dad on Father’s Day, check in with him first. As him what he really wants to do, and then do what you can to make it happen for him.

Nap time. So, your stressed-out single dad said he’d like nothing more than to lounge on the couch, watch sports and take a nap on Father’s Day. Good for him. Do what you can to give him that much needed time to himself. Arrange for a babysitter or offer to take his child(ren) out for the afternoon.

A “Dad” excursion. If Dad just loves to scheme up grand plans on weekends and holidays, then Father’s Day is no exception. If he wants the “whole gang” to attend a pro baseball game or go camping, fishing, golfing, deep sea diving or on some other adventure, go along with it and help him out. On the other hand, if your single dad really detests having to plan things, then plan the day. Be sure to check with his children first, to gauge their interest and ensure the day is a success.

Dine out. Unless your busy single dad’s favorite past-time is cooking, make his day exceptional by cooking his favorite meal or taking him to the restaurant of his choice. Be sure to call the restaurant ahead of time to make a reservation, if possible, in order to avoid an extensive wait.

Commemorate the day. Whether his favorite thing is power tools, software and electronics, golf or good cigars, a thoughtful gift of something he truly enjoys will mark the day for your single dad sweetheart and show him how special he is. If your single dad has young children, try to get them involved in celebrating Father’s Day by encouraging them to make their own cards or gifts. Talk with his older children to find out what they have planned for their dad and ask if they need help.

Boot Camp for New Dads Shares Tips for Celebrating Father’s Day

May 7, 2009 //  by admin

Working with more than 200,000 new dads over the past 18 years, Greg Bishop, founder of Boot Camp for New Dads, a non-profit orientation program for fathers-to-be, operating in more than 260 hospitals, clinics, schools, fire stations and churches around North America and internationally, and author of two books on fathering, offers tips on how guys really want to celebrate Father’s Day.

“Most fathers believe the less complicated, the better. Guys aren’t really interested in spending a lot of money on Father’s Day in general so oftentimes, they choose activities that are outdoors and free,” noted Bishop.

Dads across the nation have shared their ideas for celebrating Father’s Day:

· Take in a minor league baseball game.

· No need for clubs or a golf cart – go Miniature Golfing.

· Fire up the grill and give dad the spatula – a cookout with all dad’s favorite foods is just the thing.

· Play Wiffle ball or get a backyard football game going.

· Plan a picnic at the park or the beach. Be sure to bring baseball gloves and ball, Frisbee or football.

· Take a family bike ride around the neighborhood or head for the nearest state park or trail.

· Pack up the gear, some special snacks and go hiking.

· Head for the nearest river or lake and go canoeing or boating. Or, watch the “big boats” while you stroll the ocean waterfront and enjoy ice cream.

· Going bananas? Check out the monkeys and other exhibits at your local zoo.

· Have a pizza party – order in or gather together and make it from scratch. Follow it up with (age appropriate) games like charades, Monopoly, Go Fish, etc.

· Take in a show. It could be the newest movie in the theaters or a concert or an auto, boat or monster truck show – whatever dad enjoys.

Bishop continued, “Gifts are nice but simply spending time together as a family is what many dads want on Father’s Day.”

Tips, Advice, Instructions and more

Greg Bishop offers strategies from more than 200,000 new dads that have gone through the Boot Camp for New Dads program in his second book, Crash Course for New Dads: Tools, Checklists and Cheat Sheets. His first book, Hit the Ground Crawling, covers work balance, being a dad, caring for a new mom and much more. Both books are available online at www.DadsAdventure.com.

New Dads Learn What to Expect at Boot Camp Workshops

Dads-to-be will be better equipped to face the challenges and opportunities of fatherhood after attending a Boot Camp “hands on” educational workshop. Men attend the class when they are expecting their first baby, and are joined in the workshop by “veterans” who had previously attended and have returned with their two to four-month-old baby in tow. They are able to give the dads-to-be a realistic idea of what to do and what to expect when their first baby comes. For many men attending, it’s their first time holding a baby.

Boot Camp for New Dads

Now celebrating their 18th year, Boot Camp for New Dads is nationally acclaimed as the “Best Practice” for preparing men to be fathers and has been named a U.S. Navy Model Program. Boot Camp for New Dads has prepared more than 200,000 men for fatherhood over the years.

With more than 4.1 million births (National Center for Health Statistics), and approximately 1.5 million men becoming new dads every year, it’s more important than ever for fathers to realize that being a “good provider” is only part of the very central role they have in their children’s lives.

For more information about Boot Camp for New Dads, visit www.bcnd.org, or to visit Dads Adventure, go to www.Dadsadventure.com. To arrange an interview with Greg Bishop, please contact sdubin@prworkzone.com, (781) 582-1061.
