Emerson Bearing Boston Offers Secondary Sealing System for Type E Units

June 18, 2019 //  by admin

Emerson Bearing Boston, a bearing company catering to Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEM) and Maintenance, Repair and Operations (MRO) markets around the world, now offers a secondary sealing system for Type E Housed Units which better withstands harsh environments, protects against contamination and moisture, and provides improved life.

Machine tool applications require bearings that are designed for rigid, high speed, high precision machine tool spindles. Type E Units provide a combination of high radial and thrust loads. For extra protection and to increase uptime in severely contaminated and wet environments, Emerson Bearing has expanded their line to include the multi-point sealing system – the TIMKEN® Type E Tapered Roller Bearing Housed Unit Secondary Sealing System.

The system has a rugged cover that protects against contamination (particularly in industries where particulates are an issue) and upgraded abrasion-resistant, triple-barrier internal seal for harsh and/or dirty applications. Type E Secondary Sealing Systems are available in the full range of units from 13/16” to 5” and 35 mm to 100 mm.

“The Type E Mounted Unit is widely used in heavy duty applications and the add-on of a secondary seal has broadened the range of applications where customers can get improved life,” explained Steve Katz, president. “At Emerson Bearing, Type E units are among our top sellers for their cost-effective, efficient design.”

Type E Pillow Blocks and More

At Emerson Bearing, we offer various types of mounting units well-suited to a range of heavy-duty applications. Pillow block mounted units are ideal for smaller loads and less rigorous applications. Flange block mounted units are held in place by two or four bolts, and it is the four-bolt design that can take larger loads and is typically employed for heavy-duty applications. Hanger blocks are almost always used for conveyor belts, and are made of well-lubricated split roller bearings that are housed together and can be hung from a conveyor.

Machine Tool Division

Bob Piracini, Senior Marketing Specialist leads Emerson Bearing’s Machine Tool division. Emerson Bearing’s knowledgeable Machine Tool team assists clients in determining which bearing technologies would be most suitable by taking into consideration the specifications, recommendations, maintenance strategies, fatigue life and wear resistance of the bearing in relation to the application.

Katz continued, “We have a sourcing network that spans the globe, and our experts can assist in the selection of the right bearing for its specific application and requirements to ensure superior performance and avoid costly pitfalls and downtime.”
