Between Rounds supports Connecticut Foodshare in two campaigns to fight hunger

March 19, 2026 //  by admin

MANCHESTER, EAST WINDSOR, SOUTH WINDSOR, TOLLAND, AND VERNON, CT…

The food-insecure population in Connecticut has increased by 40 percent since 2020.

In response, Between Rounds Bakery Sandwich Café, the unique bagel shop with five locations in Connecticut, has teamed up with Connecticut Foodshare to help people facing food insecurity.

Between Rounds presents Connecticut Foodshare with the proceeds from one of their two campaigns to fight hunger in the community. Shown left to right: Reese Hopkins, Chris Puiia, Jerry Puiia, Joe Puiia, Meghan Dubois, Brendan Puiia, and Laurie Puiia.

In an effort to help their neighbors, Between Rounds recently donated proceeds totaling $1,600 from two campaigns – a special breakfast sandwich campaign and a live radio broadcast event encouraging the purchase of bagel certificates – to Connecticut Foodshare.

In the fall of 2025, Between Rounds created a new breakfast sandwich known as “The B.E.C.C.A.”, made with bacon, egg, cheese, Hellmann’s Ancho Chipotle sauce, and avocado on a bagel or croissant, with 50 cents from every BECCA sandwich sold donated to Connecticut Foodshare to help provide food for individuals and families facing food insecurity.

Between Rounds also held a one-day event with Reese On The Radio from WTIC 1080 AM, broadcasting the live show from their Vernon location on January 16th. Throughout the show, guests were encouraged to stop by to meet Reese and purchase half-priced bagel certificates, with all proceeds being donated directly to Connecticut Foodshare.

Expanding & Continuing the Campaign

“We’re committed to supporting our neighbors in need and will continue to support Connecticut Foodshare to help fight hunger in our community,” said Jerry Puiia, co-founder of Between Rounds. “Our BECCA breakfast sandwich has become so popular that we’re going to continue to donate 50 cents from every BECCA sandwich sold, and we’re expanding this promotion to our Garlic Bagel Chips.”

Now, 50 cents from every package of Between Rounds Garlic Bagel Chips will also be donated to Connecticut Foodshare.

Both the Garlic Bagel Chips and the BECCA breakfast sandwich are available at all Between Rounds locations: East Windsor; South Windsor; Vernon; Manchester and Tolland, CT.  To view locations, visit betweenroundsbagels.com.

Between Rounds expands bagel line with Featured flavors throughout the year

March 18, 2026 //  by admin

MANCHESTER, EAST WINDSOR, SOUTH WINDSOR, TOLLAND, AND VERNON, CT…

Between Rounds Bakery Sandwich Café, the unique bakery café and bagel shop with five locations in Connecticut, has expanded its signature bagel line with featured flavors.

Between Rounds’ featured bagels are offered for a limited time and may include unique flavors as well as seasonal bagels. Throughout 2026, the bagel franchise is set to roll out five featured bagels, which will be offered for a limited time:

Cranberry Orange, a sweet and tart citrus bagel featured in January, February, and March.

In March, Between Rounds is also featuring green (colored) signature bagels in celebration of St. Patrick’s Day.

A Chonion bagel combines their two most popular savory bagels, cheddar cheese and onion, and will be featured in April, May, June and July. The Chonion bagel has a bold flavor profile that is perfect topped with plain or flavored cream cheese and even better when served in place of bread in a favorite breakfast or lunch sandwich.

Just in time for “Pumpkin Spice season”, Pumpkin bagels will feature in August, September, and October.

In November and December, Between Rounds will feature French Toast bagels, which are made with a maple and cinnamon swirl, similar to the taste of French toast topped with maple syrup.

“We enjoy creating new and exciting bagel flavors for our customers,” said Jerry Puiia, co-founder of Between Rounds. “Essentially, our featured flavors enable us to offer new flavors on a limited basis to see how well they are received. For example, our Jalapeño Cheddar bagel started out as a featured flavor, but was very well-received and in high demand, so we made it one of our staple flavors offered daily.”

Bagel Varieties

Between Rounds signature bagel line includes more than a dozen different kinds of bagels each day, which include: Jalapeño Cheddar, Everything, Asiago, Cheddar, Whole Wheat, Blueberry, Spinach, Cornmeal, Pumpernickel, Garlic, Egg, Onion, Poppy, Sesame, Cinnamon Raisin, and Plain.

Puiia continued, “Our signature bagels are made from the same family recipe for more than 35 years now. Our bagels are delicious as is or toasted and topped with cream cheese or a preferred topping. Customers looking for ways to enhance their breakfast or lunch sandwich ‘flavor profile’ may simply replace sandwich bread or roll with their favorite Between Rounds bagel.”

Wholesale Bagels

Between Rounds signature bagels are also offered at wholesale partner retailers. The bagels are sold in four-packs of their most popular flavors: Plain, Sesame, Poppy, Everything, Asiago, Jalapeño Cheddar, and Cheddar bagels. (Feature flavors are not part of wholesale offerings.)

For a listing of wholesale partner store locations that offer Between Rounds bagels, visit betweenroundsbagels.com/grocery-retailers/

Retailers interested in becoming wholesale partners to complement their offerings with Between Rounds fresh-baked, local products are encouraged to contact Jerry Puiia at (860) 291-8780.

A note from PR Works Founder Steve Dubin

Hey there!

We wanted to take a moment to thank all of our franchisor clients who voted for us in Entrepreneur’s 2024 Top Franchise Suppliers survey. Your support means a lot—and we’re especially honored because this recognition comes directly from the people we work with every day. (That’s you.)

We’re looking forward to seeing the results in the September issue of Entrepreneur.

In the meantime, we didn’t want you to miss an important deadline that could give your franchise some great exposure. The application window for Entrepreneur’s Franchise 500® ranking is open now, and the deadline is Friday, August 15.

Participation is completely free and open to all franchisors, no matter how large or how new. And here’s the part many brands overlook: when you submit a Franchise 500 application, you’re also automatically considered for all of Entrepreneur’s other rankings—like:

  • Top New & Emerging Franchises
  • Fastest-Growing Franchises
  • Top Franchises for Veterans
  • Hot Franchise Trends
  • Fall Buyer’s Guide

If you didn’t receive your application instructions this year—or if your team is short on time and you’re not sure where to start—reach out to Entrepreneur directly at franchise500@entrepreneur.com. They’re responsive and helpful (we’ve been there).

Again, thank you for your support in the Supplier survey—and good luck in this year’s rankings. We’ll be cheering for you.

Sincerely,

Steve Dubin
