Beverly Moore, RN, CS, founder of StilMee, The Leader in Alzheimer Coaching Serves as Keynote Speaker at Caregiver Conference in Orlando

October 14, 2008 //  by admin

DATELINE: QUINCY, MA AND ORLANDO, FL…

Beverly Moore, RN, CS, founder of StilMee, The leader in Alzheimer coaching of Quincy, MA and author of the book Matters of the Mind…and the Heart, recently gave a keynote speech at the annual Share The Care caregiver conference held at Rosen Plaza Hotel in Orlando, Florida.

Moore, whose company has coached more than 1,400 families in the care of a person with Alzheimer’s or a related disorder and who has more than 40 years of experience teaching and training professionals and para-professionals who specialize in behavior management, presented to an audience of approximately 200. Her presentation, entitled “Circles of Care” focused on family caregivers relinquishing the “me only” attitude and being open to others in sharing in the care of a loved one with dementia. During her presentation, Moore addressed caregivers’ need for validation and the importance of sharing their caregiving responsibilities with those who want to travel the “caregiver journey” with them.

“Although the conference was not specific to Alzheimer’s, I found a large percentage, perhaps 85-90 percent of caregivers were most stressed by behaviors of those with a cognitive disorder, whether due to Alzheimer’s, stroke, Parkinson or the developmental delay of now grown children,” explained Moore. “I’m not sure who received the most; the audience or me. Caregivers are a phenomenal group of people.”

Moore is a professional speaker and is available for educational public presentations, CEU programs, staff training and in-services. Her book for caregivers, Matters of the Mind…and the Heart sold out at the conference and is available online at Advantagebookstore.com.

To schedule a presentation or to learn more about Beverly Moore and StilMee, The leader in Alzheimer coaching, visit www.StilMee.com.

Megan Taylor celebrates 10 years with DirectBuy of Greater Vancouver

October 9, 2008 //  by admin

VANCOUVER, COQUITLAM, VICTORIA, AND OKANAGAN, BC…

In 1997, two lifelong friends, Peter Ruetz and Steve Pippy, decided to buy purchased DirectBuy of Greater Vancouver, the leading members-only showroom and home design center that offers merchandise at manufacturer-direct prices. Not too long after that, they hired Megan Taylor work in their reception area. So celebrating Megan’s 10-year anniversary with DirectBuy takes on an added significance.

“Megan’s 10-year anniversary means a lot to us for many reasons. For starters, being in business for 10 years doing anything says something in itself, but to provide enough challenges and opportunity for growth for your employees to want to stay that long says quite a bit about DirectBuy,” said Peter Ruetz, co-owner of DirectBuy of Greater Vancouver. “Megan’s been a wonderful addition to our company from her first day until now. Frankly, it’s impossible for me to think of this place without her here.”

Originally hired as a receptionist, Taylor quickly became a jack-of-all trades, helping customers place orders and even working in shipping and receiving. That versatility paid off and she was promoted to service manager, a position she’s held for the past seven years.

A resident of Pitt Meadows, Taylor worked in the medical field prior to her DirectBuy days and holds a medical office assistant’s certification from Douglas College. During her time at DirectBuy, she’s won Corporate’s Ultimate Service Star and attended The Summit conference for DirectBuy’s superior performers.

Said Taylor,“DirectBuy has been a wonderful place to work these past 10 years. What amazes me that even after 10 years, I still learn so much about furniture and the business itself. Another benefit is that there are members I’ve known since my first day until now. I’ve seen them come in and buy wedding invitations, then baby furniture and so on. Plus, Peter and Steve are just amazing people to work for. They’re really more like my family.”

Since 1971, DirectBuy franchises have offered members the opportunity to enjoy enormous savings on home furnishings, home improvement items, entertainment and outdoor products and accessories by buying wholesale, directly from the manufacturer. With four convenient locations in the greater Vancouver area (Victoria, Vancouver, Coquitlam, and Kelowna), consumers can enjoy a comfortable, country-club setting, where they finally have the financial control of buying direct.

For more information on a DirectBuy membership, visit www.DirectBuyBC.ca.

About DirectBuy

Since 1971, DirectBuy has helped hundreds of thousands of families enjoy a better quality of life, enabling them to buy directly from more than 500 manufacturers and their authorized suppliers. DirectBuy has been serving the greater Vancouver area since 1997. Access to confidential prices, local suppliers, and unparalleled selection helps make members’ dream projects a reality.  It’s a comfortable setting, where you finally have the financial control of buying direct.
