OnGuard Locks

One for the ride…Todson ups the ante in third consecutive year as corporate sponsor for May Institute’s Rodman Ride for Kids team

September 8, 2011 //  by admin

 NORTH ATTLEBORO, MASS…

They say the third time is a charm. Todson, Inc., distributor of Topeak bicycle accessories and OnGuard Locks, took that to heart. In its third year as a corporate sponsor for the May Institute’s 2010 Rodman Ride for Kids team, the North Attleboro-based company increased its sponsorship to $9,000 from the $5,000 it donated each of the previous two years.

In addition to its financial contribution, five Todson staffers rode as part of the May Institute’s team in the 2010 Rodman Ride for Kids last September. The Ride, now in its 21st year, offers a 25-, 50-, or 100-mile non-competitive cycling tour to raise funds for a wide variety of children’s social service agencies across Massachusetts. The May Institute, which serves children and adults with autism spectrum disorders and other developmental disabilities, brain injury, mental illness and behavioral healthcare needs, has been an affiliate of the Rodman Ride for Kids for the past six years.

“The economy has not been kind to many of these non-profits. That makes the contributions from the Rodman Ride for Kids even more vital,” said Neal Todrys, president and CEO of Todson, Inc. “We’re happy to step up our contribution and participate in this tremendous event that helps very worthy non-profits like the May Institute continue the good work they do.”

Since its founding in 1955, May Institute has evolved into a national network that serves over 25,000 individuals and their families annually. With corporate headquarters in Randolph, Mass., the Institute operates more than 200 service locations in the Northeast, Southeast, and on the West Coast.

Since its inception in 1991, the Rodman Ride for Kids has raised more than $52 million to help children across Massachusetts. The 2010 Rodman Ride for Kids raised $8.1 million.

“Todson’s contribution to the May Institute team goes beyond writing a check,” said Heidi Howard, May Institute’s Chief of Strategic Development. “They are committed to the cause in so many ways and we’re extremely grateful to their staff for being teammates on the 2010 Ride.”

Todson's Dorothy Nichols

NORTH ATTLEBORO, MASS…

Todson, Inc., the U.S. distributor for Topeak cycling accessories and OnGuard Locks, recently promoted Dorothy Nichols to the role of senior director of events.

In this expanded role, Nichols will continue to represent Todson at trade shows for both Topeak and OnGuard. Most recently, she represented OnGuard at the Daytona 200. In addition, Nichols will also act as an advocate with governmental agencies and legislators. That includes events like the National Bike Summit in Washington DC, which Nichols attended in March.

“In the few years with our company, Dorothy has done an outstanding job of representing Topeak and OnGuard products and has been tremendous advocate for safer cycling practices,” said Neal Todrys, president of Todson, Inc. “We look forward to her continuing her outstanding work in this expanded role.”

A former member of USA Cycling, Nichols previous worked in management positions for a number of cycling or cycling-related organizations. That included tenures as race team manager for Yeti Scott and Schwinn and as a bike leader for Bike Vermont, a bike touring company offering tours throughout Europe.

“OnGuard and Topeak both have a reputation for quality and innovation. My role as events director has enabled me to bring that to an even broader market and that’s something I look forward to continuing in this expanded role,” said Nichols.

A Denver, Colorado native, Nichols earned a bachelor’s degree in English from Colorado College and a master’s from Denver University. Married, she and her husband Brad reside in the greater Denver area.

NORTH ATTLEBORO, MASS…

Todson, Inc., the U.S. distributor for Topeak cycling accessories and OnGuard Locks, recently hired Bert Low to the role of sales manager based out of the company’s corporate offices in North Attleboro, Massachusetts. In this role, Low will be handling sales to national sporting good chains as well as Todson’s network of wholesale distributors.

“We’re delighted to welcome Bert to our team. He’s someone many of us here at Todson have known for quite some time and it’s great to have him on our team,” said Neal Todrys, president of Todson, Inc.

Prior to working for Todson, Low was the national sales manager for Pedro’s, working out of their corporate offices in Haverhill, Massachusetts.

“Through my previous jobs, I already knew quite a bit about Todson and the people who work here,” said Low. “It’s kind of neat to come to work on your first day and pretty much know everybody who works at your new company.”

A Brooklyn, New York native, Low started in the retail industry while in high school, working for Paragon Sports. After nearly two decades in the New York market, he moved to Massachusetts in 2006. An avid cyclist in his spare time, Low participates in both on-road and off-road races, including cyclo cross.

Married, he and his wife Laura currently reside in Billerica with their twin children Bret and Kamryn.
