DirectBuy centres had the opportunity to qualify for New Member Purchase Centre of the Year based on new member purchase volume — a reflection of the overall happiness and value members are experiencing through their DirectBuy memberships, while also signifying continued excellence in customer service. To earn this award, centres were ranked according to the highest percentage of new members who placed their first order within 12 months of joining DirectBuy. The qualification period for award consideration was October 2007 through September 2008.

DirectBuy of Buffalo promotes Henry, Lange

Henry, a Hamburg resident, began with DirectBuy of Buffalo in March 2008 as a lead generator. Prior to working for DirectBuy of Buffalo, she worked for a veterinary hospital.

Lange, a Cheektowaga resident, began with DirectBuy of Buffalo in September 2008 as a lead generator. Prior to working for DirectBuy of Buffalo, she was employed by Chick-n-Pizza Works.

“Both Marsha and Denise are most deserving of this promotion. DirectBuy centers had the opportunity to qualify for Customer Service Rating Center of the Year, by excelling in several key customer service areas during a 12-month qualification period. To earn this award, centers were graded and awarded points to determine their Customer Service Rating based on feedback from actual customers using a survey designed in collaboration with Maritz Research.

Maritz surveyed DirectBuy customers and asked them to rate their experience based on ten different steps in the life of a member – from their initial new member orientation through to their shopping experiences and beyond. The survey was designed in collaboration with DirectBuy franchisees from throughout their network that had attended training with Maritz at The Disney Institute in Orlando, FL and using DirectBuy’s Service Theme and Service Standards as a guide. Maritz then translated the survey feedback into a scoring system to determine a customer service rating for each of DirectBuy’s 160 locations.

DirectBuy of Buffalo hires Don Zappia as marketing manager

Zappia most recently worked for a networking marketing firm in Las Vegas, Nevada. Prior to that he owned and operated Simme’s Martini Bar & Restaurant in Lancaster, New York. Zappia attended Medaille College in Buffalo.

“Don’s been a great addition to our staff. He brings a lot of energy to the table and has a passion for the value DirectBuy brings to our members lives,” said Mark Klinger, owner of DirectBuy of Buffalo.

As a marketing manager, Zappia’s responsibilities include oversight of the phone room marketing efforts, lead generation and lead follow up.
