Killing Two Bugs with One Inspection. Beaumont area company Bundles Home Inspection and Termite Inspection.

October 15, 2019 //  by admin

Whether buying, selling or staying in a property in Texas, it’s important to have a proper home inspection. A licensed home inspector can make sure your current dwelling or potential home is free from any structural, electrical, plumbing, HVAC issues and more. While these criteria are essential to determining the health of a property and to remain in compliance with state laws, other critical features may be left unchecked. For example, WDIs (Wood Destroying Insect reports) are not required in standard home inspections.

Termites can cause health problems to occupants and can compromise the structure of homes past the point of repair. Rich and Heather Placette, owners of both Texas Country Inspection and Texas Bug Masters based in Beaumont, Texas area are addressing this issue by increasing convenience and reducing costs for current and potential homeowners by bundling traditional home inspection with WDIs. As both home inspection and pest control specialists, their team will make sure your property meets all state required specifications as well of a host of other essential auxiliary criteria for one low price.

Rich explains, “Most homeowners assume that passing a standard inspection indicates a perfect health in a property. Years or sometimes just months down the road, they’ll discover their home has been compromised by a termite infestation and is no longer safe to live. Sometimes their only option is to demolish.”

You can ignore some problems – but termite infestation is not one of them. The sooner you discover a presence or termite damage the better. When caught early, termites can be eradicated before major structural damage occurs. If you wait long enough, load bearing beams, walls and your roof could be weakened to the point of collapsing on you and your family – if your home isn’t condemned first.

Texas Country Inspection and Texas Bug Masters were founded by  lifetime residents of Lumberton, Texas, Rich and Heather Placette to serve the needs of their neighbors in the Greater Beaumont region. Recognizing that many of their customers are in need of both business’s services they began offering special prices for bundling. You can reach Texas Bug Masters by calling (409) 548-2713 and Texas Country Inspection by calling (409) 651 6539. Or visit https://texasbugmasters.com and https://texascountryinspection.com/.

Old Colony Elder Services, the non-profit agency proudly serving older adults and individuals with disabilities throughout greater Plymouth County, collaborated with volunteers from the Brockton Summer WAVE (Work, Achieve, Volunteer, Experience) Program on several outreach projects.

OCES teamed up with MassHire Greater Brockton YouthWorks (MassHireGBYW) Summer WAVE Program, which is managed by the MassHire Greater Brockton Workforce Board (MassHireGBWB). The Summer WAVE Volunteer Program provides an opportunity for youth who are 14 and 15 years old to volunteer and gain minor work experience on which to build.

Honoring Troops – National Day of Service and Remembrance

In August, OCES hosted 26 WAVE volunteers at their Brockton office to continue the tradition of writing letters to the troops for National Day of Service and Remembrance. OCES partnered with the Operation Gratitude and WAVE volunteers to pen letters and draw or color pages that were sent out in care packages to Veterans and Active Duty Service Members.

“We express our gratitude and ongoing support for our troops through our letter-writing collaboration with WAVE student volunteers,” said Nicole Long, OCES’ CEO. “National Day of Service and Remembrance is an opportunity to honor and thank our troops who serve and protect us.”

Beautification Projects

OCES’ Volunteer Coordinator Courtney Krajeski, Martine Taylor, Director & Margaret Lynch, Volunteer Coordinator of South Shore Habitat for Humanity and Karen Rudd, Director of Bridgewater Housing Authority, led 30 WAVE volunteers in landscaping and grounds beautification projects at a South Shore Habitat for Humanity project in Weymouth, MA and at Bridgewater Housing Authority.

Behavioral Concepts Presents Founder with Lifetime Achievement and Longevity Awards

September 30, 2019 //  by admin

BCI’s HR Manager, Nicole Jeff and Dr. Robinson

The recently retired Jeffrey R. Robinson, Ph.D., the founder, former president and CEO of Behavioral Concepts (BCI), a company of behavioral clinicians specializing in the care of children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) throughout Massachusetts, was honored with a Lifetime Achievement Award as well as a Longevity Award. Dr. Robinson is a resident of Mansfield, MA.

BCI, now part of the LEARN Behavioral family of companies – a national organization dedicated to helping all children succeed in school and life – recognized Dr. Robinson with two awards at their annual meeting: A Lifetime Achievement Award and a Longevity Award.

With 39 years of experience in the field of Autism Spectrum Disorder and a passion for special education services, Dr. Robinson is a visionary leader dedicated to best-practice Applied Behavior Analysis services.

BCI held a private retirement celebration in Dr. Robinson’s honor on August 29, 2019 at Maxwell Luciano’s Banquet at Union Station in Worcester, MA. More than 165 were in attendance.

A Lifetime of Achievement; A Legacy for the Community

Dr. Robinson founded BCI in Worcester in 2003 to provide families and schools with highly specialized consultative and direct services for children diagnosed with autism. The organization has grown from its initial six employees to over 500 employees and is among the largest insurance-based ABA service providers in Massachusetts. BCI’s main headquarters remain in Worcester, with satellite offices in Springfield, Fitchburg, and Tewksbury. Additionally, they offer Northeast, and Southeast programs. BCI is a Massachusetts Department of Public Health approved provider of specialty ABA services for early intervention (infants and children up to three years of age), and also provides center, home-based, and afterschool services through private and public health insurance.

For more than 25 years, Dr. Robinson consulted with school districts throughout Central and Southeastern Massachusetts, most notably holding a contract with Worcester Public Schools from 1999 until 2014. He was the senior ABA consultant helping Worcester Public Schools to formally develop an autism program.

In his dedication to meeting the fast-growing demand for assessment, behavioral, consultative and educational services for children with ASD and their families throughout Massachusetts, Dr. Robinson addressed an industry-wide workforce shortage in board-certified clinicians. In 2014, Dr. Robinson struck a partnership between BCI and Bay Path University to create an onsite graduate program in Applied Behavior Analysis. BCI has had 25 graduates from this program partnership over the past two years. Last year, BCI struck a partnership with Assumption College in Worcester to provide an on-campus graduate program for staff looking for a more traditional graduate program experience. BCI employs, on average, more than 30 Assumption College alumni each year. As an additional incentive, BCI pays 60 percent of the tuition cost for employees.

Dr. Robinson’s accomplishments and advancements in the special education sector reach beyond BCI. In 2014, Dr. Robinson co-founded the Center for Applied Behavioral Instruction (CABI) with Dr. Brian Doyle. CABI is a private, special education day school for students with Autism Spectrum Disorder and Behavioral Challenges. Students are referred to CABI from local school districts when they need more intensive educational and behavioral interventions. CABI serves students from more than 30 school districts and recently renovated their school space in anticipation of increased enrollment.

Over the years, Dr. Robinson’s work has been published in peer-reviewed journals and he has presented at conferences across the country. He earned his Ph.D. in special education from Boston College.

Most recently, Dr. Robinson was honored as the 2019 Large Business Leader of the Year by the Worcester Business Journal.

Dr. Robinson leaves quite a legacy in ensuring that specialized consultative and direct services for children diagnosed with autism are provided to hundreds of families in Massachusetts through BCI.

Sally Burke, M.S. Ed., BCBA, Director of Early Intervention at BCI shared thoughts on Dr. Robinson’s contributions and retirement, “Jeff Robinson built the foundation of BCI. His leadership and vision made him a great boss, but his integrity, respect, and compassion make him a great person. The future of BCI is based off of this solid foundation and will continue to provide the best services as we strive for excellence in all aspects of what BCI stands for.  Dr. Jeff will be missed by all, but his legacy will continue to grow more than ever imagined. Thank you, Jeff for building this for us and believing in your dreams. We won’t let you down.”

Arnone School Group’s Summer Community Service Project Benefits OCES Meals on Wheels Program and Recipients

September 30, 2019 //  by admin

Students in the Summer Extended Day Program at Arnone School in Brockton recently raised an impressive $500 for Old Colony Elder Services’ (OCES) Meals on Wheels Program, and also created handmade placemats and bags to be delivered to a number of Meals on Wheels recipients in Brockton.

As their summer community service project, approximately 400 students ranging from Kindergarten to 7th grade, in Arnone School’s program, decided that OCES’ Meals on Wheels Program and its recipients would benefit from their project.

The students held a “Penny War” fundraiser to raise money for the Meals on Wheel program. Three groups of students, K-Grade-1, Grade 2-3 and Grade 4-7, participated in the spare change fundraising competition. The groups competed to see which one could fill their jar with the most pennies.

The K-Grade 1 group was in the lead, and on the last day of their Penny Wars, the Grade 4-7 group brought in a ton of change and won. The money raised was donated to OCES in support of the Meals on Wheels program.

Additionally, the students crafted personal and colorful placemats and lunch bags which will be presented to OCES Meals on Wheels consumers in Brockton with their nutritious meal delivery.

“The students from Arnone School’s program did an amazing job with their community service project – raising a remarkable $500 for OCES’ Meals on Wheels program. It’s truly inspirational to see youth giving back to the community,” said Nicole Long, CEO of OCES. “The Meals on Wheels program is an essential program for many older adults who are homebound, unable to prepare meals, manage their grocery shopping or able to attend one of our community dining sites. We’d like to thank the students for their thoughtful efforts and generous donation to our Meals on Wheels program. They are really making a difference in our community.”

With the help of more than 760 volunteers, OCES, the non-profit agency proudly serving older adults and individuals with disabilities throughout greater Plymouth County and surrounding communities, delivers more than 1,600 meals each week to Meals on Wheels recipients in their service area.

Breaking Bearing Code – Emerson Bearing Boston Shares Tips to Help Get the Most from Bearings

September 27, 2019 //  by admin

Choosing a bearing catalog can be intimidating and confusing – as some seem to be written in a secret code, with a series of letters and numbers that are unknown to anyone who hasn’t chosen a bearing before.

Emerson Bearing Boston, a bearing company catering to Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEM) and Maintenance, Repair and Operations (MRO) markets around the world, shares tips for cracking the code and understanding how to get the most from your bearings.

Rolling bearings are designated by codes that indicate the construction, dimensions, tolerances, and clearances of each bearing. Tolerance is the limit of random (unintentional) deviation of a dimension from its nominal value. Allowance is the amount of designed (intentional) deviation between two mating dimensions in a fit, which, in combination with their respective tolerances, results into a maximum and minimum clearance or interference.

Emerson Bearing breaks it all down:

The Codes in a bearing catalog can include any or all of these three parts: the basic code, prefixes, and suffixes. The basic code tells you what kind of bearing it is and its bore diameter (diameter of the inner ring). Prefixes indicate basic components in the bearing, and suffixes indicate any special characteristics or designs.

Basic Code consists of the bearing series, which indicates the type of bearing, and the bore number, which specifies the bore diameter. The bearing series can be made up of letters and/or numbers that designate the construction, diameter series, and in many cases the width series. The bore number indicates the bore diameter. If the bearing code only contains the basic code and doesn’t include any prefixes or suffixes, it means that it is a normal bearing with normal standards of form, precision, and clearance.

Prefixes refer to basic bearing components and common prefixes include H for Tapered Roller Bearings-Inch, N for Cylindrical Roller Bearings-Metric, NN for Super Precision Cylindrical Roller Bearings, and S for Stainless Steel – to name just a few.

Suffixes indicate bearings with special characteristics or designs, including special outer forms, cages, precision tolerances, clearances, and other characteristics like heat treatment and noise behavior. The most common suffixes for internal design are E for Higher Capacity Bearings, UA for Close Axial Preload, UO for No Clearance, and UL for Light Preload. There are also suffixes for outer surface dimensions, sealings, cage materials, precision tolerances, bearing clearances and dimensionally stabilized bearings. Note that for bearings with both special precision tolerance and special clearance, the suffixes are combined.

“We are dedicated to helping our customers find the bearings they require,” explained Steve Katz, president. “Our team of experts can assist with proper bearing selection and equip customers with the knowledge needed – which often includes deciphering bearing codes – which  helps to ensure they avoid costly pitfalls and downtime.”

To learn more, read Emerson Bearing’s blog about breaking bearing code, which includes detailed tables, at https://blog.emersonbearing.com/blog/bearing-numbers-and-codes

For more information on the Faustman Lab at MGH and type 1 diabetes, visit www.faustmanlab.org.
