ChestnutStreet.com Launches Fun New Game to Help “Train the Brain” and Disrupt Memory Loss

November 29, 2017 //  by admin

Every 66 seconds, someone in the U.S. develops Alzheimer’s disease, according to Alzheimer’s Association. But, what if you could take action now to improve your brain health in the future?

According to an international study that was presented at the Alzheimer’s Association International Conference in London in July, one in three cases of dementia could be prevented if more people looked after their brain health throughout their lives.

Introducing Rememory Game from ChestnutStreet.com – a socially interactive and fun way to help utilize brain and memory recall skills. Made in the USA, Rememory Game is a stimulating conversational card game that allows you to access stories from your past. Games such as this one can help increase and strengthen the brain’s networks, which help increase the ability of the brain to function in later life.

On the heels of National Alzheimer’s Disease Awareness Month (November), ChestnutStreet.com launches the noncompetitive Rememory Game, which consists of 25 season cards, 25 generation cards and 180 prompt cards. Draw three cards, stimulate a memory and share your story. This game is suitable for ages 13 and up.

“According to experts, many of the changes in the brain that cause dementia develop years before an official diagnosis. Taking control of our brain health by keeping mentally active and maintaining strong social connections can help to lower our risk of the disease,” explained ChestnutStreet.com founder Karen Osborn. “Put a stop to the idea that dementia is inevitable, and bring friends, family, and neighbors together for a fun evening of ‘brain training’ with our unique Rememory Game.”

To learn more about Alzheimer’s and dementia, visit the Alzheimer’s Association website at www.alz.org/facts

Reduce Downtime, Increase Safety – Emerson Bearing Boston Expands Line of Split Bearings used in Industrial Facilities

November 27, 2017 //  by admin

Emerson Bearing Boston, a bearing company catering to Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEM) and Maintenance, Repair and Operations (MRO) markets around the world, has expanded their line of Split Roller Bearings.

Used in a variety of applications, from food processing and steel manufacturing to power generation and water treatment facilities, Split Roller Bearings offer great versatility and wide-reaching benefits.

Allowing for reduced maintenance and fewer replacements than traditional solid roller bearings, split bearings are used in a range of applications to reduce downtime, save on costs, and increase overall safety. Quick and easy to install and replace, these versatile components are essential for any facility requiring consistent operational efficiency. They are available as direct drop in replacements dimensionally to standard SAF Spherical Roller and Cylindrical Roller units with both metric and inch shaft dimensions.

As an industry-leading provider of various types of bearings, Emerson Bearing is proud to offer split bearings line from Timken Revolvo, Craft, and FAG.

Increasing Facility Efficiency and Reducing Downtime

Some of the key advantages of split roller bearings include reduced operational costs, accurate cage alignment, and simple installation and assembly. Equipment and machinery don’t need to be disrupted, and markings are included in all split bearing designs to assist with part positioning and orientation. Additionally, split bearings are delivered in two halves, so they are very easy to install, inspect, and replace.

“Split roller bearings offer the qualities of high efficiency and reliability thanks to their versatility and reduced maintenance requirements compared to traditional solid roller bearings,” explained Steve Katz, president of Emerson Bearing. “Split bearings reduce the downtime required for moving equipment or changing bearings and they free up personnel and resources, allowing for increased focus on other important tasks. Emerson Bearing offers a vast inventory, 24/7 service, and customization services as needed which are critical to our customers’ operations.”

To learn more about the benefits of Split Roller Bearings and their applications, read Emerson Bearing Boston’s recent blog: https://blog.emersonbearing.com/blog/split-roller-bearings-benefits?

November 7, 2017 //  by admin

Old Colony Elder Services (OCES), the non-profit agency proudly serving older adults and individuals with disabilities throughout greater Plymouth County and surrounding communities, invites the community to join the #GivingTuesday movement and support the OCES Emergency Fund program. Coming just after Thanksgiving, in the same way that Black Friday and Cyber Monday kick off the holiday shopping season, #GivingTuesday kicks off the giving season.

Tuesday, November 28, 2017 is #GivingTuesday. Since its founding in 2012, #GivingTuesday has inspired giving around the world, resulting in greater donations, volunteer hours, and activities that bring about real change in communities. OCES has joined the #GivingTuesday movement to raise money for their Emergency Funds program. The OCES theme this year is #SafeAndWarm.

OCES’ Emergency Fund helps meet the needs of at-risk low-income older adults and individuals with disabilities who are in a crisis or emergency circumstance that threatens their health and/or living situation. All too frequently, these individuals encounter problems that can jeopardize their ability to maintain independence, dignity and well-being.

Last year, OCES raised $9,311 for their Emergency Fund. This year’s goal is to break the $10,000 mark.  With the number of individuals needing assistance increasing each year, OCES’ fundraising goal is to add to the Emergency Fund’s capacity so they can continue to make a critical difference in the lives of consumers served. OCES’ Emergency Fund supports dozens of consumers throughout the year faced with unforeseen emergency events, answering urgent needs such as filling an empty fuel tank, repairing a broken furnace, or providing life-sustaining medications.

To make a donation to OCES’ Emergency Fund online, visit www.ocesma.org and click on #GivingTuesday. Donations may also be made by check or money order and mailed to OCES, 144 Main Street, Brockton, MA 02301.
