October 21, 2018 //  by admin

Carie Virtudes of Apollo Safety’s Danbury, CT office and Tracy Carvalho from Fall River, MA headquarters showcase the latest advances in hazardous gas detection at MAHMT conference in Plymouth.

Apollo Safety, Inc., providers of gas detection products and services for hospitals, universities, government operations, public utilities, manufacturing, Biotech and other organizations, showcased the latest in portable and wireless gas detection systems at the Massachusetts Association of Hazardous Materials Technicians (MAHMT) 26th Annual Training Conference held September 19-20, 2018 at Hotel 1620 in Plymouth, MA.

Apollo Safety’s Tracy Carvalho and Carie Virtudes were on hand fielding questions and demonstrating the latest advances in hazardous gas/toxic leak detection and equipment, including wireless, from manufacturers such as Industrial Scientific, RAE Systems, RKI Instruments, Detcon, Scott and Honeywell to ensure the safety of hazardous material incident response professionals and the general public.

Most hazardous gases are virtually undetectable to human senses alone. The detection systems are extremely sensitive and alarm at the first sign of hazardous gas or toxic leak.

Apollo Safety’s offerings include a wide variety of portable, stationary and wireless gas detection systems, as well as ongoing monitoring and management of the maintenance, usage, and alarm data of gas detection systems, which ensures optimal operation, minimal downtime, and the overall safety of everyone onsite.

Markets served by Apollo Safety include: schools and universities; hospitals and healthcare facilities; municipal and government buildings; commercial buildings; hotels and resorts; shopping malls; manufacturing facilities; multi-housing complexes; major sports facilities and events; warehouses, airports and seaports; and worship facilities. A high Google ranking and real-time references

image of PR Works Google ranking

October 18, 2018 //  by admin

Google reviews are all the rage now, particularly those of the 5-star variety. The more of those you receive, the better your chances of landing a high Google ranking in the hallowed grounds of the three-pack on Google Maps. That’s us at the top of the three-pack below:

image of PR Works Google ranking

Achieving this type of Google ranking didn’t happen overnight. It took about a week to achieve our spot in the three-pack and about month to record the current 51 five-star Google reviews.

While you might think being on the first page of searches for PR firms on the South Shore is a huge benefit, it might not even be the top one.

Isn’t a high Google ranking and being on page one the goal? What could be better than that?

You could say having a lot of client testimonials is better. Some of the reviews we received were quite flattering. For example:

“Our organization has been working with PR Works for a few years now and they, without a doubt, perform above and beyond. Their staff is very proactive and takes care of all of our marketing needs without any prompting necessary. They keep their finger on the pulse of what is going on with our organization and then spread the word for us via press releases, eNewsletters, and social media posts. It is a constant relief knowing that PR Works is handling our marketing. Thank you PR Works!”
–Talking Information

“I recommend PR Works for any size company to brand themselves, reach audiences and target markets, build networks or launch a new product. My product has been on the market for over 10 years, and I am still attracting customers from my early press releases by PR Works. With the longevity power of the internet, a strategically written press release is especially important and worthwhile at any stage of your business. PR Works provides that media knowledge and exposure. Their services range from immediate need to long range planning, so affordable for all size businesses and initiatives and no need to change firms down the road.”
–Julie White, BedBoots

Perhaps more important than the kind and flattering words are the real-time references these reviews provide. When a prospect asks for references, we not only have them at the ready, but in real-time. We can literally provide those references on the spot. Even more importantly, the prospect knows these references were not coached up or otherwise influenced to speak glowingly of our firm. For many prospects, an authentic, real-time reference can seal the deal.

If you would like to find out how a first-page placement and real-time reference source on Google Maps can benefit your business, drop us a line.

BCI Announces “Halloween Full of Pieces” Autism Friendly Event October 28th

October 16, 2018 //  by admin

Behavioral Concepts (BCI), a company of behavioral clinicians specializing in the care of children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) throughout Central Massachusetts, is proud to sponsor the second annual “Halloween Full of Pieces” autism-friendly Halloween party which will be held on October 28, 2018 from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. at Knights of Columbus, 91 Manville Street, Leicester, MA. This event is open to the public.

Hosted by the Knights of Columbus Council 4528, this special event is a sensory-friendly and safe trick or treating experience for children with ASD. BCI’s Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) Therapists will assist in the event alongside the Knights and staff volunteers.

The event will feature a haunted house, sensory-friendly activities, face painting and more.

There is no cost to attend “Halloween Full of Pieces” party and children may wear costumes if they wish.

“From all the scary decorations, lights and sounds to sensory issues with costume clothing fabric and accessories, Halloween can be an especially tricky time for children and families with autism,” explained Sally Burke, a Licensed Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) at BCI.

Below, Burke offers five tips to help families with autism celebrate Halloween:

1. If you think your child would like to (and can tolerate) wearing a costume, have him/her practice wearing it for short intervals while playing in the days/weeks prior to Halloween.

2. A visual social story or a book that discusses the topic of Halloween and what to expect prior to the event can be extremely helpful. Review it often in the days leading up to Halloween.

3. Practice trick or treating with a family member or neighbor you know well. Whether you and your child gets to one house or quite a few on Halloween, be sure to praise them for a job well done.

4. Plan your trick or treating route. Consider skipping homes with lots of lights, sounds and scary decorations.

5. Remember, staying home and passing out treats may be just as much fun for your child as going out, so don’t rule out the option.

Boys and Girls Club of Marshfield Receives $10,000 Targeted Grant

October 3, 2018 //  by admin

Grant from Eastern Bank Charitable Foundation will support after-school health, wellness, and life skills for adolescent girls in Plymouth County.

The Boys and Girls Club of Marshfield, a youth development organization, has received a $10,000 Targeted Grant from Eastern Bank, America’s oldest and largest mutual bank.

The grant will support The Boys and Girls Club “SMART Girls” program for their entire female population. SMART Girls is one the Boys and Girls Clubs’ top programs, and is a targeted curriculum that ensures girls get the right information and the right support at the right age. Separate modules are tailored to three age groups. The interactive, engaging, small-group sessions engender trust and positive self-image, while teaching good decision making regarding personal health, wellness, choices, and relationships. This program is targeted to increase young women’s positive self-esteem by providing access to female mentoring relationships, building confidence, encouraging self-advocacy, and addressing mass and social media’s influence in self-esteem and body issues. SMART Girls gives girls the space, support and tools to navigate adolescence and to emerge strong, healthy young adults.

Each year, the Eastern Bank Charitable Foundation’s Targeted Grant program supports hundreds of community-based organizations working for progress on a specific issue in Eastern’s New England footprint. In 2018, in celebration of the Bank’s 200th anniversary and to honor its first depositor, Rebecca Sutton, Targeted Grants have been designated to support organizations addressing a range of issues that disproportionately impact women, such as sexual assault, domestic violence, human trafficking, health care, pay equity, and senior management and board representation. The Boys & Girls Club of Marshfield is among 170 nonprofits each receiving a $10,000 grant. In total, Eastern is granting $1.7 million in Targeted Grants this year to nonprofits in communities from New Hampshire to Cape Cod and throughout the South Shore, North Shore, Metro West, Merrimack Valley and Greater Boston.

“We are thrilled to partner with Eastern Bank on this important programming for adolescent girls in our community,” said Jim Bunnell, Executive Director of Boys and Girls Club of Marshfield. “It is innovative grants like these that impact how future generations will grow to be responsible and productive citizens.  Collectively Eastern Bank is helping to make great strides in empowering women in our society to reach their potential.”

Eastern’s Targeted Grant program this year creates new opportunities and resources for women in areas where assistance is needed the most. The facts are staggering:- A woman is assaulted every nine seconds in the U.S. and one in three women has been a victim of physical brutality by an intimate partner, making intimate partner violence the single greatest cause of injury to women.
– In Massachusetts, women earn 83 cents for every dollar paid to men. In New Hampshire, they earn 76 cents. African-American women nationwide earn 64 cents for every dollar earned by white men, and Latinas—only 56 cents.
– In the sciences, women represent less than 25% of those employed in computer and mathematical occupations and only 15% in architecture and engineering. For women of color, this gap is even wider. Asian women, African-American women, and Latinas make up less than 10% of working scientists and engineers in the U.S.
– Women receive more graduate degrees and they hold more faculty positions in colleges and universities, and yet, men hold the highest number of tenured university positions.
– Only 32 women run Fortune 500 companies and only two are women of color. Less than 20% of all board seats in Fortune 1,000 companies are held by women.

“We believe in breaking down the barriers that stand between people and prosperity. That’s why Eastern is a strong advocate for the advancement of women,” said Bob Rivers, Chair and CEO of Eastern Bank. “With each Targeted Grant, we aim to enhance the lives of our neighbors and contribute to real progress around the advancement of women in our local communities. On behalf of everyone at Eastern, we congratulate this year’s Targeted Grant recipients and thank them for working to level the playing field.”
