Sign of the times. Social Distancing Sign Solutions – Webster Printing Rolls Out New Division.

March 30, 2020 //  by admin

As companies strive to ensure the safety of their customers and employees by following the guidelines of public health officials and government agencies during the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, demand for social distancing signage has skyrocketed.

Webster Printing, providers of fine commercial printing, commercial sign solutions and complete mailing/fulfillment services with locations in Hanson and Hanover, MA, has launched a new “Social Distancing Sign Solutions” division.

“We had an opportunity to create generic social distancing signs for a large New England supermarket chain and overnight, demand for this type of signage increased exponentially,” explained Ernie Foster, president of Webster Printing, based in Hanson, MA and serving New England and beyond. “Whether a company has one or 150 locations, we make it incredibly easy for them to obtain high quality, durable social distancing signage. For example, store sign placement evaluations may be done via virtual tour on a smart phone. We’re a full-service printer with the expertise and capacity for speedy custom sign fulfillment.”

Webster’s in-house design and creative services team can personalize and customize any type of social distancing signage. Or, if preferred, customers may provide their own file. With two shifts running, turnaround is a quick 48-hours.

Foster continued, “Although social distancing signage is critical during this crisis, the rules of social distancing will most likely remain with us for the foreseeable future. Education and continual reinforcement are the new reality. Webster Printing has come up with some ideas to help educate the public about the new social distancing rules.”

Combining state-of-the-art pre-press and print technology with an 80 plus year history of excellence, Webster Printing is meeting this new demand with a dedicated division that offers both generic and customized social distancing signage. Among the markets they serve are hospitals, banks, pharmaceutical, corporate facilities, grocery and liquor stores, manufacturers, retailers, government buildings, colleges and universities.

Webster Printing offers social distancing signage in any size for walls, windows and floors. The materials used are durable and specified for each particular application. The company also provides signage in different languages (bilingual or multilingual signs) and has the capability to add symbols.

“Free social distancing evaluation”

Some facility managers and directors may be in need of advice regarding distancing signage. Webster Printing offers a free, carefully arranged in-person evaluation or virtual evaluation (via SmartPhone and video) of existing space.

Printing. Unlimited Possibilities™

Webster Printing provides a complete solution for printing, product packaging and fulfillment – from creating and producing custom print/packaging that stands out from the crowd to warehousing, picking and shipping to get product into customers’ hands quickly and cost-effectively.

As a full-service printing plant with decades of experience in marketing and print services, Webster’s in-house creative design team can translate product brand into signage and packaging with powerful appeal. Their team can design and engineer a custom solution that meets even the most complex set of requirements, including regulatory compliance for industries like healthcare. An FSC Certified printer, Webster can support customers’ “green” initiatives with FSC-certified materials and environmentally friendly inks.

Webster’s comprehensive logistics capabilities include warehousing, picking, packing, and shipping, providing a true, one-stop solution. Automated ordering systems make ecommerce fulfillment a seamless experience.

Webster Printing is located at 1069 West Washington Street in Hanson, and their warehousing/fulfillment facility is located in Hanover.

Bust out. Enjoy Getting Your Lawn Ready for Spring.

March 26, 2020 //  by admin

Cabin fever is setting in for many of us who have been self-isolating due COVID-19.  But maybe this is an opportune time to get some Vitamin E from the sun and endorphins from the rejuvenating exercise related to preparing your yard for spring?  Many experts note that sunshine and clean air are natures best disinfectant.

Here are some simple and effective tips from Lawn Doctor of Boston, the South Shore, and Cape Cod.

Tom Norton, President of the local Lawn Doctor outfit, suggests “Some years are worse than others, but a general clean-up will benefit your lawn in many ways.”

Norton continued, “Too much debris can suffocate the lawn and prevent the emergence of new growth. Raking up even just a few sticks and leaves not only helps get the lawn looking better instantly but it gives you the opportunity to inspect your lawn thoroughly and assess any issues.”

Now what? Lawn Doctor cautions you that raking to clean up is great, but if you have a thick layer of thatch, you may have to rake a little more thoroughly. Thatch is the layer of decomposing plant material that sits on the surface of the soil. When it accumulates and gets compacted it can prevent the roots of your grass from getting water, fertilizer, oxygen and other nutrients.

Next, manage the moss. Every winter your lawn will stop growing and go into winter dormancy. Meanwhile, moss continues to grow. In the early spring, moss often looks worse than it is. Once the turf starts to grow moss will become less noticeable. Under some conditions, such as heavy shade or habitually moist areas, moss will naturally grow thick and dense. In this case, moss can only be handled by removing it manually with a rake or dethatcher. To help prevent moss and control the spread of it, we recommend a heavy calcitic lime application in the spring and, depending on the soil pH, sometimes again in the fall. Seeding in the fall and proper nutritional care and maintenance can keep the moss from coming back.

Now for fertilize. In the early spring, you’ll notice that your grass is pale green, gray or even yellow, depending on the variety of grass you have. As it comes out of dormancy, it will naturally green up. To bring it back to life faster and see it grow greener you should have a lawn care program.

Lawn Doctor urges a first treatment of a high-nitrogen fertilizer with other essential nutrients as well as weed control and crabgrass preventative. This service will wake your grass right up and make it look like winter never happened!

Pay attention and prevent crabgrass. It may seem too soon to be thinking about crabgrass but it is imperative to get pre-emergent weed control solution onto your lawn ASAP. The secret is TWO applications of pre-emergent solution. Two applications mean double prevention and longer lasting effects. Do not underestimate the importance of pre-emergent.

Good start to creating the lush lawn that your family and friend can enjoy.

Lawn Doctor of Boston, the South Shore, and Cape Cod is a local, family owned and operated business. Over 50 years of serving their neighbors has provided their team with invaluable insight as how best maintain your home’s greenest asset.

Whether you’re looking to fine-tune your lawncare routine or create one from scratch, the experts at Lawn Doctor can get you on track. For more information about Lawn Doctor, visit http://www.lawndoctor.com/or call 800-831-1319.

Tips for Seniors and their Families. Breaking through isolation during COVID-19.

Wendy Adlerstein

March 25, 2020 //  by admin

NEEDHAM, MA… Older adults (age 60+) have been identified as one of the most vulnerable populations in the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. As a result, many seniors are now distancing themselves from others and are essentially “homebound” and isolated.

FirstLight Home Care of West Suburban Boston, offers tips for seniors to help ward off boredom and other potential effects that have been linked to social isolation.

“As seniors continue to practice precautions in these uncertain times, many are struggling with the social isolation aspect that goes along with it,” said Wendy Adlerstein, LSW, Owner and Executive Director of FirstLight Home Care of West Suburban Boston, a leading provider of non-medical home care helping individuals achieve the quality of life they deserve. Adlerstein, a licensed social worker, has more than 20 years of experience in working with seniors.

She continued, “Altered sleep patterns, feelings of loneliness, as well as increased fear and anxiety are a few of the effects of social isolation that may develop over time.”

In light of this, FirstLight Home Care of West Suburban Boston offers five “isolation buster” activities for seniors below:

Engage in “brain games”. Crossword puzzles and Sudoku are a couple traditional games that seniors may enjoy on their own. Tech-savvy seniors may prefer to play Scrabble, Dominoes or a variety of other multi-player online games.

Enjoy the show. Create a list of your favorite movies, share it with friends and family and encourage them to add to the list. Share ratings and critiques with one another. From past and present Oscar winners, dramas and musicals to romantic comedies and westerns, there’s a variety of genres and no shortage of films.

Find a new hobby or project. Do you enjoy perusing cookbooks for recipes that you could improve upon? Whether it’s cooking, crafting, woodworking, drawing or another activity – find a hobby you are passionate about that will bring you joy and keep you busy.

Learn something new. Consider learning a new language through any of the free language learning websites. Visit online exhibits at museums from around the world. A good link to start with is https://artsandculture.google.com/. Or, simply tune in to some of the fun, educational television shows that offer instruction on baking, gardening, painting and more.

Revisit your favorite books. Whether it’s a collection of classic works, a favorite “whodunit”, or that 400-page page biography – there’s no better time than the present to enjoy it.

Adlerstein advises, “Finding activities that you enjoy, and that stimulate thinking, problem solving and creativity will not only keep you from being bored, but can improve mood and help keep you sharp. Although social distancing is a necessity, stay in touch with neighbors, family and friends on a regular basis. Talk on the phone, video chat, text or email. We’re all in this together and will get through it.”

Boston area Physical Therapy provider now offers Telehealth – Physical Therapy services in the comfort of your home.

March 24, 2020 //  by admin

Boston Sports Medicine, a provider of exceptional physical therapy care to thousands in the Boston area and beyond, is now offering Telehealth or E-Visit physical therapy services to their existing patients, and Telehealth to any patient in Massachusetts who has lost their physical therapy due to office closure or reduction in staff.

With intensifying concerns surrounding the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, Telehealth or E-Visits have become of paramount importance to ensure the safety of patients and health care providers.

Physical Therapy via computer or another device

Telehealth or E-Visits are the remote delivery of health care services and clinical information using communications technology, such as Internet, wireless and phone media. Boston Sports Medicine patients now have the opportunity to seamlessly continue their care through video appointments, while practicing social distancing, remaining in their home, and minimizing their exposure to the virus.

Dr. Michael J. Velsmid, DPT, MS, Director of Boston Sports Medicine

“Approximately half of the patients we see critically need physical therapy guidance,” explained Dr. Michael J. Velsmid, DPT, MS, Director of Boston Sports Medicine. “Many people have just had surgery, young children have recently had their casts removed, people with debilitating back and neck pain and others who have acute injury or medical conditions are without anyone to speak with to learn how to cope and what they and their family can do. Our Telehealth or E-Visit services enable us to deliver essential physical therapy and clinical information remotely to continue their care in the safety of their home.”

Benefits of Physical Therapy by Telehealth

In addition to minimizing exposure to the virus, Boston Sports Medicine’s Telehealth/E-Visit physical therapy provides a number of benefits including:

Convenience – Patients receive physical therapy care from the comfort, safety, and privacy of their home or anywhere with connection to communications technology.

Security – Boston Sport Medicine’s technology platform used for Telehealth and E-Visits are HIPAA compliant, ensuring that private health information is protected.

Simplicity – Patients use a computer or any device with a camera and internet. If there is no access to a camera, Boston Sport Medicine’s physical therapist can do Telehealth visits by phone.

Office appointments at Boston Sports Medicine’s locations are available at the moment but currently limited due to their efforts to “flatten the curve” by strict adherence to grouping guidelines and social distancing.

Access to the best therapists no matter where you are

To request a Telehealth or E-Visit physical therapy appointment, visit https://www.bostonsportsmed.com/request-appointment/ and a Boston Sports Medicine physical therapist will see you on your device in the comfort of your home covered by your MA-based health insurance plan, Medicare, Tricare, and many other out of state plans.

The Department of Public Health issued guidance on March 15, 2020 to all commercial insurers and the Group Insurance Commission regarding the coverage of medically necessary telehealth services. To review the full order, visit https://www.mass.gov/doc/march-15-2020-telehealth-order/download

Boston Sports Medicine has taken it a step further to help the most vulnerable population by waiving all copayments and deductibles for its Medicare beneficiaries who use E-Visits.

Should you keep blogging during the Covid-19 crisis?

Snap. Crackle. Pop.

Most people hear “Snap” and “Crackle” and know you’re talking about Rice Krispies.

But did you know Kellogg’s first introduced their signature product in the height of the Great Depression?

True.

While its chief competitor Post significantly reduced its marketing budget in the 1930s, Kellogg’s actually doubled its advertising spend, investing heavily in radio.

Part of that effort was introducing its newest product, Rice Krispies.

So, what was the end result of this polar opposite approach to a financial crisis?

Well, Kellogg’s increased its profits by 30 percent and became the category leader for decades thereafter.

Post survived. Yet it never really regained its perch atop the food chain (sorry about that irresistible pun).

Does that mean you should increase your marketing budget during this crisis?

When you consider the Kellogg’s example, it’s not the worst idea. Particularly when you consider the current crisis will have an end—they were not so sure when the Great Depression would end.

While a radio buy might not be in the cards for your business, there are any number of low budget and grassroots marketing efforts you can undertake to keep front of mind and/or be ready for when things get going again:

  • E-newsletters – If your company has one, continue to stay on schedule so you’re never too far from the minds of your customers and network. You may even want to increase the frequency (e.g. monthly to bi-monthly).
  • Social media posts – Be it a blog, Facebook, Twitter, etc. continue to post. If it feels too self-promotional during a time like this, mix in some inspirational stories. For example, Stop & Shop offering special hours for shoppers 60 and older.
  • Website updates – When was the last time you edited content on your website? This could be a great time for a thorough review of the content on your site and a chance to punch it up or optimize.
  • eBook/Lead Magnet – Do you have a lead magnet on your website? If not, it could be a great time to develop one. Or, if you do, perhaps you could update it with more recent case studies. Better yet, produce a new eBook/Lead Magnet and have it ready to go for when businesses get back to normal.
  • Podcasts – Hosting your own podcast gives you an opportunity to showcase your expertise but also content spiders well in the search engines.

Speaking of podcasts, PR Works offers a turnkey podcast solution that includes developing a title, theme, bumper music, arranging for guests, guiding you through easy-to-use technology at your desk, uploading the edited segment to Spotify and other podcast portals, promoting each episode via social media and other channels, and more.

If you would like more information on how we can help your business join the Golden Era of podcasting, drop a line or give us a call at 781-582-1061.

Whether it’s a podcast or any of the aforementioned grassroots efforts, none require the kinds of dollars Kellogg’s spent on radio time way back when. Yet with all or a few of these low-cost initiatives. you can stay top of mind of with your key audiences TODAY!

Or you can wait for things to get back to “normal”.

The amount of time until then is the same for all of us. What to do with that time is totally up to you.

Again, if you need assistance in launching your grassroots initiatives, call us at 781-582-1061 or drop a line.

Professional distancing? Tips on Connecting with online meetings.

Brian MacFee

March 20, 2020 //  by admin

Business communication has been dramatically affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. Systems Support Corp based in 462 Plain Street, Suite 206, Marshfield, MA  02050 is offering tips and support to help businesses segue to online meetings.

Client/Sales visits are out!  Many are now working from home and remotely controlling their office computers, making it very hard or impossible to stay in touch with multiple people at the same time.

Video conferencing to the rescue. Zoom, Go To Meeting, WebEx, Anytime Meeting, Skype and Intermedia are among the leaders.

Brian MacFee of Systems Support Corp notes, “Online meetings break through the isolation and keep everybody on the same page. This could be employees, clients, key members of clubs and organizations, or even just a chance to get family together over the upcoming holidays.”

He added, “The good news is that there are a number of quality online meeting systems that are pretty easy to use, fairly inexpensive (some are even free for a period of time), and pretty reliable. “

Most people have a laptop or tablet at their disposal they can use that already has a video camera and microphone built into it. You can even use most of the smartphones for it as well. Most of the better known meeting systems have pretty much the same features that we’ll be talking about.

To have the best meetings you can, make some preparations beforehand and test them out with a friend or partner before going “live” with a number of people. Here’s some tips to make your meeting the best experience it can be. Some of the tips are good to remember if you are an attendee of someone else’s meeting –

  1. Choose a good provider – again the top providers are highly recommended. All are easy to use even for the novice.

  2. Include all the information necessary to connect in your invitation email that you send to attendees.
  • Create and share an agenda with your attendees.

  • Practice the meeting with a colleague. How do you look and sound on their computer?
A suggestion, try to use a headset microphone or pair the Bluetooth earpiece/microphone you use with your phone to your computer. Microphones internal to laptops tend to sound boomy or throw off lots of echo.

  • Make sure your lighting is BRIGHT. Without good lighting, you will look dark and rather sinister on the other screens. Have a light background, like a blank office wall. You can even drape a white sheet behind for better contrast and appearance with a logo or brand graphic attached. It is best to avoid a window  as your background.

  • If at home, choose a room with good lighting away from everybody else.

  • If there are going to be more than three attendees, you want to be able to mute people at will as one of the biggest complaints is people talking over one another.

  • With more attendees, it is best to have a colleague manage the meeting – muting / unmuting as necessary and switching  the main screen to others for you as necessary.
  • Many systems allow you to record the meeting. This can be helpful to recall documents that are shared or clarifying what was said.
  1. Repeat number 4 – Practice is the best way to become familiar with the system, check the sound and picture, and share documents and videos.

These tips should help you create effective meetings that can help keep your clients, colleagues, or potential customers engaged and improve your image as you attend other’s meetings.

Systems Support Corp, located at 462 Plain Street, Suite 206, Marshfield, MA  02050 delivers first-class computer support to companies aiming to increase productivity and efficiency. With a comprehensive approach to network services, Systems Support Corp is a single source for all things IT.
