Peter Hans, Discovery Map International

October 21, 2021 //  by admin

What? A home-based business with the glamour of travel?

Wanderlust and potential are what has always driven Americans. Funny, fast on the uptake and full of relatable stories, Peter Hans, CEO of Discovery Map, Inc. delivers both.

During the pandemic, travel has been fairly limited. For many, that’s meant either a staycation at home or a regional road trip. Discovery Map, the leading provider of curated guides to top tourist attractions in cities and towns throughout North America, has become even more of a godsend to those day and road trippers.

Peter outlines why his franchise opportunity is a little different. It’s not a 9-to-5 gig and you don’t necessarily have to work 12 months a year to be successful. You just have to be willing to work hard when you work.

Peter began his career as an investment banker in Switzerland for six years and followed that with six more years in London. During that time, he traveled to most every major European city and also to Australia, Asia and South America.

Discovery Map franchise owners come from many walks of life. Some are corporate/pandemic refugees or semi-retired individuals looking to build a business and fund their full retirement. Others include recent college grads, as well as mothers (and fathers) looking to build a business with hours around the kids’ school schedules.

Virginia is for (Cannabis) Lovers. State Implements Cannabis Legalization in the Most Rational Fashion. Home Grow blooms instead of the black market.

October 20, 2021 //  by admin

By Eric Robichaud, CEO at Green Goddess Supply

That sound you hear is cannabis professionals applauding Virginia’s approach to cannabis legalization.  As each of the 50 states rolls out its own legalization plans, some have gotten it right and others have gotten it quite wrong.

Having been involved with the cannabis profession since its legal inception, I believe the Governor of VA made the right moves.  Instead of merely decriminalizing possession, they have legalized home grow along with the dispensaries.

It might seem like a minor nuance, but it’s actually incredibly important with huge ramifications.  Some states, such as New Jersey, have legalized possession and legalized dispensaries, but did not legalize personal home grow.  With all the of the bureaucratic regulatory framework-building that needs to be done, and the licensing and building processes required, it will realistically be two to three years before dispensaries are opening doors for business.  Where are people supposedly getting their hands on these 6 ounces of weed, then?  The answer: the black market.

Not enabling personal home grow means that cannabis users are going to turn to the black market in those states.  But in Virginia, there’s a clear and legal path to obtaining legal cannabis in the meantime: growing your own at home.

Our company, Green Goddess Supply produces an award-winning home grow system called “The Armoire” which is designed to look like furniture and meld nicely into any home décor.  We have seen a big uptick in sales of The Armoire in Virginia since July 1st.  Last month 50% of our sales came from Virginia. It stuck out like a sore thumb to us.  So, we went back and looked and sure enough it started around mid-July.  That’s when we made the connection.

Most cannabis enthusiasts don’t want to deal with red tape or politics.  They just want high quality, clean, organic bud at home quickly, easily and inexpensively.  The new Virginia cannabis legislations allows that to happen.

Virginia is now the state of lovers and cannabis lovers.

Eric Robichaud is the CEO at Green Goddess Supply, a “cultivation to consumption” cannabis lifestyle brand offering a line of high-quality products to grow, store, prep and consume hemp flower and cannabis products. The company sells direct to consumers at MSRP through its website, and also offers wholesale and distributor accounts to brick and mortar storefronts and industry distributors. Green Goddess Supply strives to exceed expectations and delight customers with quality products and amazing customer service.

The Armoire, a turnkey home grow system that even your most judgmental aunt won’t detect, is patented by and a trademark of Green Goddess Supply. Green Goddess Supply is a privately held company headquartered in Boston, MA with additional distributions centers in Los Angeles, CA; Long Island City, New York and Pooler, Georgia. Old Colony Elder Services Holds Volunteer Appreciation Events

October 18, 2021 //  by admin

Old Colony Elder Services (OCES), the non-profit agency serving older adults and individuals with disabilities throughout Greater Plymouth County, recently held two Volunteer Appreciation events in Bridgewater and Plymouth.

To honor and celebrate their outstanding volunteers, OCES held appreciation events at Bridgewater Senior Center and Plymouth Center for Active Living in late August. A total of 87 volunteers from OCES’ Nutrition Program, Money Management Program, Board of Directors, and RSVP of Plymouth County attended the two outdoor events, which featured live music by Lisa Yves, Emma Murphy, Caleb Wolf and Fiona Campbell as well as delicious food from Flashback Franks and The Whoo(pie) Wagon food trucks.

According to Courtney Krajeski, OCES’ Volunteer Coordinator, “These events were a tremendous success and I could not be more pleased with the turnout and execution of each event. We received great compliments on the food trucks and the music. Our dedicated OCES volunteers deserve recognition for their heroic efforts during a difficult year. We also wanted to give them the opportunity to connect and celebrate in person – a connection that we were all happy to share.”

Nutrition volunteer Emilia Cantwell and her job coach Susan Kallio of the Nemasket Group Building Futures Project support Meals on Wheels (MOW) in Wareham. (The Nemasket Group offers personalized, flexible support to families and individuals with disabilities to live, work and develop relationships within our communities.) As a team, Cantwell and Kallio have continued to deliver meals throughout the pandemic. Kallio said, “Volunteering with Meals on Wheels has been a great opportunity to connect with people in a safe way. Emilia loves meeting new people and helping others. She remembers the names of those she delivers to which allows for that personal connection.”

Volunteering for OCES
With the help of 325 Nutrition Program volunteers who perform many tasks, OCES serves 1,800 meals each weekday as part of its MOW Program. Over 35 Money Management Program (MMP) volunteers assist older adults and individuals with disabilities with bill paying, reconciling bank statements, balancing checkbooks, and in special cases, negotiating debt with creditors.

OCES is an AmeriCorps Seniors grantee that receives funds through the Retired and Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) which is for volunteers age 55+. RSVP of Plymouth County volunteers help OCES and other local agencies that are OCES business partners. Volunteers also serve on the OCES Board of Directors, and the MMP or RSVP Community Advisory Councils and contribute with many other important efforts.

To learn more about becoming a volunteer for OCES contact Courtney Krajeski at 508-584-1561 x355 or visit ocesma.org.
