Dock Dogs Aquatics Canine Competition Comes to Mansfield Crossing

August 12, 2013 //  by admin

On Saturday, August 24th and Sunday, August 25th, Mansfield Crossing will host the high flying action of DockDogs®, the largest outdoor aquatics canine competition in the world. Dogs can participate in various competitions from 10am until 5pm outside LL Bean.

If you have a dog that likes to run, jump, and get wet, make sure you don’t miss out on the fastest growing sport for canines in North America.

Aside from the competitions, spectators will also be able to enjoy treats and deals from the stores and restaurants at Mansfield Crossing all weekend.

Throughout the Expo, DockDogs® will present the Big Air® Wave competition accompanied by an Extreme Vertical® competition for both competitors and spectators to enjoy. The Big Air® competition features dogs running down a 40’ dock and diving into a pool of water after an object, in which they are electronically judged for the length of their jump and the Extreme Vertical® competition is a “High Jump” for the dogs as they each lunge to snag a “bumper” suspended in the air. With each grab, the height increases in 2-inch increments until only one dog is crowned king.

“We’re so happy to be hosting Dock Docks once again at Mansfield Crossing,” commented Niamh O’Maille, Marketing Manager for WS Development. “We hope the local community will join us for this exciting weekend and enjoy themselves at our shopping center.”

The competitions are open to everyone and registration begins at 8am. Teams are made up of one dog and one handler. A dog must be 6 months or older to be eligible. Canines of any breed, size or shape are welcomed. Not only is the competition open to all types of canines, but also handlers above the age of 7 years are welcomed. Dock Dogs even has a Junior Handler class for those who are between the ages of 7-14.

About DockDogs®

DockDogs® is the independent governing and sanctioning body for regional, national and international dock jumping performance sports. DockDogs® establishes the rules and standards of the sport, tracks results and records and supports and promotes the growth of its athletes, events, spectators, and sponsors.
