J.P. Licks Kicks Off May with Cinco de Mayo Celebration

April 29, 2009 //  by admin

Along with new Spring flavors and Mother’s Day cakes, J.P. Licks is kicking off May with a Cinco de Mayo celebration week at their eight stores in and around the Boston area.

Come celebrate Cinco De Mayo with J.P. Licks May 1st through May 7th customers will receive double points on their Cow Card for every purchase made! J.P. Licks will also be serving up the best margaritas north of the border, made with their signature fresh margarita sorbet comprised of fresh lime juice and Tequila served in a 12 oz. margarita glass that patrons can keep. They will be serving them up in three flavors, Original, Spicy Mango and a Habanera Lime. J.P. Licks is also bringing back two popular ice cream flavors for the month, El Diablo, chocolate ice cream with cayenne pepper and cinnamon and Dulce de Leche, caramel ice cream with a caramelized caramel swirl.

Mother’s Day is Sunday, May 10th and J.P. Licks offers the perfect dessert. J.P. Licks’ Mother’s Day cake is a vanilla ice cream cake with a decadent center of homemade hot fudge, topped with vanilla icing, flowers and a wish for a “Happy Mother’s Day”. All of J.P. Licks’ cakes are hand packed which eliminates the air that is present in most ice cream cakes thereby creating a dense and absolutely delicious cake. Custom cake orders for Mother’s Day must be placed at least 48 hours in advance. A fresh homemade Key Lime Pie is May’s featured pie made with fresh Lime Sherbet and topped with lime zest and a lime slice.

“Cinco de Mayo is quickly becoming as popular as St. Patrick’s Day. It’ll be a festive week at J.P. Licks – our staff will be in costume and there will be plenty of music, margaritas and merriment,” noted Vince Petryk, founder of J.P. Licks.

He continued, “Spring is here and so brings back more refreshing citrus flavored sorbet and sherbets.”

J.P. Licks flavors for May include Fresh Lime Sherbet; Fresh Lemon Hibiscus Sorbet; Fresh Margarita Sorbet; Butter Cashew; Fresh Banana; Strawberry Cheesecake; Peanut Butter Chip; El Diablo; Dulce de Leche; Chocolate Brownie, Black Cherry Lactose Free and an all NEW Coconut Almond Chip low fat hard yogurt.

J.P. Licks’ “Thin Mint” Flavor Supported Local Girl Scouts

April 6, 2009 //  by admin

For anyone who loves Girl Scout Thin Mint cookies, J.P. Licks’ most recent featured flavor, Thin Mint ice cream, is as authentic as it gets. J.P. Licks’ Thin Mint ice cream is made with original Thin Mint Girl Scout cookies mixed with green mint ice cream. The flavor, which was featured throughout March, rocketed to a best seller; created many new ice cream fans, AND supported the local Girl Scouts.

The award winning homemade ice cream café worked with Girl Scouts from Jamaica Plain, Roxbury, Mattapan and Dorchester and purchased 20 cases of Thin Mint Girl Scout cookies.

At least four boxes of Thin Mint cookies went into every batch of J.P. Licks’ Thin Mint ice cream, which was produced on-site in the Jamaica Plain store.

According to Girls Scouts of the USA Cookie Report, Thin Mint cookies and all the other varieties of Girl Scout cookies are Kosher and contain zero trans fats. Best of all, proceeds from Girl Scout cookie sales benefit girls in the community where they are sold.

“We offered the Thin Mint ice cream at all of our stores and it quickly became a best seller among our Top 10 flavors. All of our products are Kosher and luckily, so are the Thin Mint Girl Scout cookies so we’re able to use them in our recipe. We’re definitely going to bring this flavor back next year and look forward to working with local Girl Scouts again,” noted Kim Sawchuk, Director of Operations at J.P. Licks.

J.P. Licks recently expanded their product line to include Numi loose leaf teas and hot breakfast at every store and French Press coffee at their locations in Jamaica Plain, Coolidge Corner, One Brigham Circle, West Roxbury and Harvard Square.

Cupid would approve of J.P. Licks’ line of hot and cold treats that are being offered during February. The award-winning homemade ice cream café with eight shops in and around Boston offers something for everyone to enjoy this month.

Spice Things Up with El Diablo!

Warm up with J.P. Licks’ award winning El Diablo Hot Chocolate! Having recently won the Harvard Square People’s Choice Award, El Diablo Hot Chocolate is made with J.P. Licks’ homemade hot chocolate mix and an added kick of cayenne pepper!

Looking for a dessert with real “spice”? Back by popular demand, J.P. Lick’s offers a “hot” El Diablo sundae made with cinnamon and cayenne peppered chocolate ice cream, hot fudge, whipped cream and sprinkled with hot cinnamon hearts.

New at J.P. Licks – Rain Forest Alliance Coffee!

February is Specialty Coffee Month and J.P. Licks is proud to introduce their first Rain Forest Alliance coffee, “Don Telmo Reserva” from Colombia. It’s certified organic, shade grown and bird-friendly, and the Rain Forest Alliance seal ensures that everyone in the chain (growers, harvesters, processors, and Mother Earth) gets fair treatment and compensation.

The bean brews a lovely cup of coffee, in fact, it’s one of the smoothest Colombian flavors; very well balanced with slight notes of chocolate.

Valentine’s Day Cakes

Don’t forget to pick up your Valentine’s Day cake! Recognizing that there are just as many “vanilla lovers” as there are “chocolate lovers”, J.P. Licks is rolling out two new ice cream cakes this year. For those who are “pure of heart”, J.P. Licks is offering an Elegant Vanilla cake, made with J.P. Licks’ homemade ultra-rich vanilla ice cream and topped with a vanilla ice cream icing and a red heart. Those looking to quell their chocolate craving will love J.P. Licks’ Chocolate Covered Oreo cake made with Oreo ice cream generously covered in decadent chocolate ganache and topped with a red heart.

From now until February 14th, J.P. Licks Cash Cow loyalty cardholders will receive an extra $5 in rewards with a Valentine’s cake purchase. Not a Cash Cow card holder? Simply visit J.P. Licks to get one and register it to start earning rewards.

Double Points During February

J.P. Licks Cash Cow loyalty cardholders will earn rewards twice as fast in February. For every $25 spent, patrons earn $5 when they use their registered Cash Cow card.

J.P. Licks stores can be found at Coolidge Corner, Davis Square, Harvard Square, Mission Hill, Newbury Street, Newton Centre, West Roxbury and Jamaica Plain. Visit www.jplicks.com to check store hours

February’s Featured Flavors

“In February, when daylight is short and the snow keeps piling up, we all need a little boost. One of the best ways to lift your spirits and to make others happy as well is by pleasing the palate,” noted J.P. Licks founder Vince Petryk.
