Tracy Driven Student award goes South…Tracy Chevrolet Cadillac recognizes Plymouth South freshmen.

October 18, 2010 //  by admin

Tracy Driven Students for October

PLYMOUTH, MA…

For the past three years, Tracy Chevrolet Cadillac has honored local high school students for their accomplishments inside and outside the classroom with the monthly Driven Student award. This year’s award program kicked off at Plymouth South High School, with Tracy Chevrolet Cadillac throwing a pizza party for 16 freshman students selected by their teachers for their positive performance both inside and outside the classroom.

Those students treated to a pizza party include: Alexa Cole, Kevin Cowden, Katya Edson, Tim Elrick, Rebecca Geary, Tommy Giorgio, Lexy Halpin, Christina Jaros, Marisa Kanter, Dylan O’Connell, Andrew Pelzer, Kayla Phakousahn, Anthony Schena, Bobby Sirois, Alex Swiniarski and Wilma Urbain.

“One of the most difficult transitions a student can make is going from middle school to high school. You’re essentially going from the big man on campus to low man on the totem pole within a few months,” said Jeff Tracy, president of Tracey Chevrolet Cadillac. “These students were selected by their teachers as the students who have made that transition seamlessly. For that, they are worthy recipients of the Driven Student award.”

In addition to the pizza party, students also received Tracy Chevrolet Cadillac drink koozies for being selected Driven Student of the Month for October.

“The Driven Student program has been wonderful for our students, particularly the freshmen,” said A.J. Butters, Freshman Academy House Master. “Freshman often take a backseat to upper classmen in terms of recognition. With this program, we have a way to recognize the students who are getting the job done, even if it is early in their high school career.”

Tracy Chevrolet Cadillac’s Driven Student program recognizes Plymouth high school students for their performance and achievements in and out of the classroom. Awarded on a monthly basis, recipients are selected by faculty and advisors at the student’s given school.

Tomorrow’s mechanics train on today’s technology…Plymouth South students receive hybrid training at Tracy Chevrolet Cadillac.

March 5, 2010 //  by admin

PLYMOUTH, MA…

Hybrid technology is no longer the wave of the future but the present for many automobile owners. Yet with most hybrids having five-year warranties, it’s unlikely that Plymouth South students taking auto repair as part of the school’s technical studies program will have the opportunity to work on a hybrid at school anytime soon. That’s why Tracy Chevrolet Cadillac, in an effort to expose tomorrow’s mechanics to today’s newest technology, held a special training session on hybrid technology for 14 auto repair students.

“For our kids who want to be auto mechanics, hybrid technology is what they’re going to need to know pretty much from Day One of their careers,” said Peter Gellar, automotive instructor at Plymouth South. “Getting an opportunity to see that technology up close and having access to Tracy’s technicians gives them a taste of what they can expect down the road.”

Rick McGue, Tracy Chevrolet Cadillac service manager, led the training session. That included looking under the hood of Cadillac Escalade hybrid and Chevy Tahoe hybrid. Tracy Service Technician Steve Rasch also answered questions in between servicing the Escalade.

“When we sell somebody an automobile, it’s not a transaction but the beginning of a relationship. Our service technicians are integral part in the success or failure of that relationship,” said Jeff Tracy, president of Tracy Chevrolet Cadillac. “By having the kids visit the dealership, we’re hopefully doing more than showing them a new technology but demonstrating the critical role they can play in our industry.”

Taking part in the training were: Paul Bruggeman, Steven Cannucci, Nicholas Casella, Michael Crawford, Charles Holmes, Copley Lovell, Devin McGuire, Donald McAulay, Ryan Mulvey, Thomas Moore, Jimmy McMahon and Tim Dodge.

In addition to the training session, Tracy Chevrolet Cadillac also sponsors the Driven Student program, which recognizes Plymouth high school students for their performance and achievements in and out of the classroom. Awarded on a monthly basis, recipients are selected by faculty and advisors at the student’s given school.

Plymouth South Student Council members win Tracy Chevrolet Cadillac’s “Driven Student” award for February.

February 24, 2009 //  by admin

PLYMOUTH, MA…

Not every student has the drive it takes to run for political office. Particularly when that office cuts into homework, afternoon and evening jobs and activities, down time and even sleep. For their commitment to their classmates, their school and the community in which they live, Plymouth South’s Student Council members received Tracy Chevrolet Cadillac “Driven Student” award for the month of February.

To help celebrate this accomplishment, Tracy Chevrolet Cadillac treated several members of the Plymouth South High School Student Council to a pizza party. Those taking part included: Danielle Ketterer, Jessica Chandler, Hillary O’Rourke, Monica Joyce, Amanda Tanis, Patty Manning, Ashley Grylls, Rachel Simmons, Krissy Harris, Brianna Maiuri, Melanie Dorn, Haley Holmes, Emily Richard, Jackie Davies, Lauren Hoar, Jill Carter, Adam McGarry, Brian Kessel and Colin McGinnis.

“Members of our Student Council do a lot more than just attend meetings,”said Ann Wolf, faculty adviser to the Student Council. “Beyond representing their fellow students at Plymouth School Committee, they serve on screening committees, present leadership workshops at the regional and state level, annually participate in the Walk for Hunger and this year are collecting children’s books as part of the State’s literacy project.”

Adds Tracy Chevrolet Cadillac President Jeff Tracy, “Being a high school student is tough enough without adding anything else to your plate. The Student Council members gladly give up their time to not only represent their fellow students, but make their school and community a better place. For that, they are most deserving of this month’s ‘Driven Student’ award.”
