StaticStop ESD

An out-of-this-world flooring solution. SelecTech completes flooring installation for UTC Aerospace

Thomas Ricciardelli
Thomas Ricciardelli of SelecTech, Inc.

PHOENIX, AZ and AVON, MA…

SelecTech, Inc., a leader in the manufacture of innovative flooring products with long-term value and immediate benefits, recently completed installation of ESD flooring at UTC Aerospace’s Phoenix, AZ facility.

UTC Aerospace Systems is one of the world’s largest suppliers of technologically advanced aerospace and defense products. The company designs, manufactures and services systems and components and provides integrated solutions for commercial, regional, business and military aircraft, helicopters and other platforms. UTC Aerospace is also a major supplier to international space programs.

“When customers select our ESD flooring, it’s first and foremost to minimize the static electricity to lessen the chance of static discharges that could damage sensitive components or impact data stored on electronic devices. While this is an important factor for all our customers, the stakes are a little higher when you’re talking about a company that makes products for national defense and the space program,” said Thomas Ricciardelli, president of SelecTech, Inc. “Fortunately, our ESD flooring scores higher on walking voltage tests than practically any other brand.”

Like the name implies, the walking voltage test measures the amount of static electricity generated by somebody walking. A reading of 100 or less is considered acceptable. SelecTech ESD flooring typically scores under 10.

“The ESD component was a large part of why UTC Aerospace went with SelecTech, but we had some other issues like moisture on the concrete slab where the floor was going and unique moving equipment that put stress on the floor,” said Ricciardelli. “We resolved all those issues and have provided UTC a floor that not only minimizes the impact of static electricity, but is ergonomically more comfortable and will be easy to maintain in years to come.”

The total installation will provide more than 100,000 feet of SelecTech’s StaticStop flooring.

All SelecTech’s ESD flooring products employ a breakthrough interlocking technology that dramatically reduces installation times, completely bypassing the need for adhesives and floor prep to install or replace flooring. Because machinery does not have to be completely moved or removed for installation, downtime for businesses can be minimized or even eliminated altogether.

In addition to being made largely from recycled materials, SelecTech’s products are 100 percent recyclable. These materials create a static-controlled environment that’s perfect for industries that significantly utilize electronics and sensitive data like electronics manufacturing, communications, aerospace, biotech, healthcare industries, and other high-tech industries.

SelecTech’sStaticStop division goes global; partners with German Distributor Wolfgang Wambier to sell FreeStyle ESD products in European market

September 17, 2013 //  by admin

AVON, MA…

SelecTech, Inc., a leader in the manufacture of innovative flooring products from recycled materials, recently announced Wolfgang Wambier as its European distributor for its StaticStop, static control flooring division. Wambier will market SelecTech’s FreeStyle ESD products under the EcoStat brand.

“This is a major international expansion as Wolfgang has made commitments both in resources and in inventory,” said Thomas Ricciardelli, president of SelecTech, Incorporated. “We are excited to partner with Warmbier, the European leader in static control products, to bring our products to the European market. This makes StaticStop the only full-line static control flooring company with an international presence. We are also proud that Warmbier has approved our product for inclusion in their line after a significant, in-depth testing and review.”

FreeStyle ESD flooring products employ a breakthrough interlocking technology that dramatically reduces installation times, completely bypassing the need for adhesives and floor prep to install or replace flooring. Because machinery does not have to be completely moved or removed for installation, downtime for businesses can be minimized or even eliminated altogether.

“On average, it can cost a business $1 per square foot per day if you have to shut down to install or replace flooring. That expense can be a staggering cost for a business open for a normal eight- to 10-hour work day, never mind one that has three shifts,” said Ricciardelli. “Beyond the reduction of down time, we feel the other benefits of our static-control FreeStyle ESD products will be very attractive to European businesses.”

Freestyle ESD products are made using recycled material and are 100 percent recyclable. These materials create a static-controlled environment that’s perfect for industries that significantly utilize electronics and sensitive data like electronics manufacturing, communications, aerospace, biotech, healthcare industries, and other high-tech industries.

Christopher Hughes

SelecTech, Inc. a leader in the manufacture of innovative commercial and industrial flooring products from recycled materials, has recently appointed Christopher I. Hughes as Inside Sales Manager.

A veteran of the static control flooring industry, Mr. Hughes has more than two decades of experience working for ESD static control product manufacturers including United Technical Products (UTP) and Desco Industries. He also has eight years of experience working for ESD static control flooring distributors, among them, Julie Industries.

In his new role as Inside Sales Manager, Mr. Hughes will manage inside sales for SelecTech’s StaticStop ESD lines and will spearhead SelecTech’s new product launch of direct glue down ESD tiles known as FreeStyle CVT and EpoxyStyle ESD. Mr. Hughes will also be responsible for managing inventory, developing pricing strategies, and essentially expanding the StaticStop ESD brand “flooring footprint” nationally.

Mr. Hughes attended Boston University and is a native of Sharon, MA. He resides in Norfolk, MA with his wife and two children.

“We’ve brought Chris on board to support and grow our StaticStop ESD business. Chris is well known in the static control flooring industry and is extremely knowledgeable. He is a valuable addition to our team,” noted Thomas Ricciardelli, the company’s president.

“Conductive, Connected and Grounded”™

StaticStop ESD flooring solutions are versatile enough for a variety of static control environments from electronic manufacturing environments, server rooms, data centers, Federal and State government operation centers, PBX, HUB and call centers to retailers, commercial buildings, health care facilities, food service providers, schools and more. Companies that utilize SelecTech’s static control flooring include GlaxoSmithKline, T-Mobile, Boeing, USPS, Dell, Crestron Electronics, Volvo and the Federal Aviation Administration.

In a recent scientific test study conducted by a renowned, independent static control consulting firm, SelecTech’s commercial and industrial static control flooring systems passed resistance flooring/footwear tests with flying colors. StaticStop SelecTile ESD and FreeStyle ESD flooring systems exceeded requirements for grounding personnel and ensuring minimal voltage during walking on static control flooring, particularly in environments of extreme sensitivity. With a maximum walking voltage level result of seven volts, StaticStop SelecTile ESD and FreeStyle ESD are well under the 100 volts desired by companies handling ESD sensitive devices.
