Looking for a few good men. eLove announces Over-40 Men’s Division for singles re-entering the dating game.

June 10, 2011 //  by admin

NORWELL, MASSACHUSETTS…

As astronauts prepare to re-enter the earth’s atmosphere, they put on a special suit. This suit not only takes into account the climate change, but the condition of their bodies after a difficult journey. The newly single 40-something male does not have that luxury to ease their re-entry into the dating world. That’s why eLove, one world’s largest professional matchmaking services, recently created a special division to cater to the needs of newly single men over 40.

“When you come out of a divorce or breakup and you haven’t been on a date in a while, it can feel like you are on another planet where you don’t speak the language and all the rules of society have changed,” said Paul A. Falzone, CEO of eLove. “With this new division, our matchmakers can provide male singles over 40 with a bit of a refresher course on dating and also help them mentally prepare to date once again.”

Some of that guidance involves going over the unspoken rules of dating, like: who picks up the tab; when and how often to call or text; should you kiss her goodnight on the first date, second?; how long should you date someone before becoming intimate; etc. Yet the real focus of the new division is mental preparation

“A lot of men who are over 40 and single again have not been single for quite some time. On top of that, many weren’t fathers and singles and that does change how you go about things,” said Falzone.

Whether you use a matchmaking company or not, Falzone recommends:

  • Going slow – perhaps it’s a cliché, but a divorce is a life-altering event and you do need some time to heal.
  • Avoid the bar scene – Getting out with friends and co-workers as a way to re-enter the social scene but don’t do it as a way to meet potential dates.
  • Get fit – Being ready to date again means feeling good about yourself. Starting an exercise program or going to a gym can begin that process of feeling good about  you again.
  • Be wary of dating at work – it’s natural for you to be close to people you work with, particularly if they’ve helped you through a tough time. Just be careful before entering into a relationship or even dating somebody at the office.
  • Networking – While being set up might not be your idea of getting back into the dating game, if you’re looking it couldn’t hurt to let people in your social or professional network know that you are interested in meeting new people.
  • The ex – It’s safe to say that dwelling on the ex will not do much good in dating new people. Just remember that you’re dating again for you, not to get back at him/her or to find somebody before he or she does.
  • Take your time before introducing your dates to friends and, especially family – if you think your divorce is an adjustment for you, it’s also one for family, friends and your children. Wait before introducing your date to them, especially the children.
  • No overnight guests – If you have children, wait a significant amount of time before having any overnight guests—at least until your date is something more serious and has had a chance to form some kind of a relationship with your kids.

“At 40, we’re supposed to be wiser to the ways of the world. But the dating world can be an entirely different world,” said Falzone. “With our new division, over 40 single males have not only the opportunity to meet the right person, but to have the information and be in the right mindset to make that love connection happen.”

Can you get your man to man up? How to know when you are dating Peter Pan.

April 1, 2011 //  by admin

NORWELL, MASSACHUSETTS…

We laugh at shows like Big Bang Theory where lovable geeks spend weekend nights content to play video games online rather than engage socially with the opposite sex.  Or movies like Knocked Up, where twenty-something males get high and talk about creating the next great skin website while their female contemporaries (Katherine Heigl’s character) work at their careers. While these characters may seem exaggerated, there’s a growing epidemic with males in their twenties and thirties who simply do not want to grow up and engage in adult activities like dating and relationships.

“There does seem to be a real disconnect between many males in that age bracket who are content to hang out with buddies or get involved with the opposite sex but only to take care of their primal needs,” said Paul A. Falzone, CEO of eLove, one of the world’s largest online dating and matchmaking services. “Unfortunately, many women do get involved with these modern day Peter Pans and invest a lot of time and energy in a relationship that’s really not going anywhere.”

So how do you know if you’re dating a Peter Pan? Males stuck in the Peter Pan syndrome show a number of traits:

  • Mama’s boy – Peter Pans typically look for partners to do everything for them—cook, clean, etc.
  • Job insecurity – Peter Pans typically don’t hold steady jobs for very long and are all-too-ready to jump the steady paycheck for the next great moneymaking idea.
  • Fidelity – Not a high priority item for a number of Peter Pans. Why? Peter Pans believe the grass is always greener, even if you’ve been dating somebody for a while.
  • No Prince Charming – while Prince Charming came to Cinderella’s rescue, that’s not the case with Peter Pan. Quite the opposite. A Peter Pan never takes responsibility for his own mistakes and often turns to the mother figure to pick up the pieces.
  • My way or the highway – Peter Pans must have things their way. While a 20-something might not throw a fit or sit in a corner holding his breath, the tantrum could manifest itself in other ways, mental and physical.
  • Father figure? – Marrying a Peter Pan and having children with him can be a recipe for disaster. Since Peter Pans is himself like a child, the children will not respect him, in spite of his efforts to be their playmate.
  • Truth vs. fiction – Dating a child-like man creates a quandary as to where truth ends and fiction begins.

So, what do modern-day Wendys do if they start to see the Peter Pan in their man?

“Unfortunately, many women think they can help their child-like men grow up. Truth be told, only Peter Pan can change Peter Pan,” said Falzone. “That’s why it’s extremely important to know what you want out of a relationship before you are actually in one and communicate that with who you are dating. If that’s not important to them, you really need to decide if it’s worth the investment.”

A singles solution…. eLove opens matchmaking office in Edina, Minnesota.

February 24, 2011 //  by admin

EDINA, MINNESOTA AND NORWELL, MASSACHUSETTS…

During a Minnesota winter, you get used to single digits. Yet being single (AKA alone) can make those frigid temperatures seem colder. In an effort to remedy that situation for singles in the greater Minneapolis/St. Paul area, eLove, the first company within the dating industry offering both online dating and matchmaking services, recently opened a matchmaking office at 3300 Edinborough Way, Suite 419 in Edina.

“If you’re ready to meet that special someone, the bar scene or many online sites can be every bit as cold as it is outside right now,” said Paul A. Falzone, CEO of eLove, one of the largest online dating and matchmaking services in the world. “We tailor our matchmaking service towards singles who are sick of the games and are ready to find their soul mate.”

eLove’s formula for helping people find that special somebody has been working for singles for the better part of four decades.

“My wife and I heartily endorse you,” said Roger McDaniel of Eden Prairie, Minnesota. “We just celebrated 23 years of marriage and all because of your company.”

In addition to a brick-and-mortar matchmaking service, eLove also offers online dating services. To find out more, visit www.elove.com. To arrange a consultation with a professional matchmaker or for a membership, contact eLove toll-free at 877–356-8370

Ladies, take charge of Valentine’s Day

January 20, 2011 //  by admin

NORWELL, MASSACHUSETTS…

While Valentine’s Day is supposed to be a day for lovers, it can be a source of frustration for many couples. For women, it can be especially frustrating because their significant other doesn’t put much thought into the day or, worse, labors through Valentine’s Day plans as if it’s another chore on the dreaded “honey-do” list. That’s why many women have adopted a “take charge” approach to Valentine’s Day to recapture the spirit of the day.

“Women tend to expect big things from their partner’s on V-Day, and men often feel obliged to come up big or feel like they are letting someone down. No other holiday brings about the differences between men and women more than Valentine’s Day,” said Paul A. Falzone, CEO of eLove, one of the world’s largest online dating and matchmaking services. “,” said Paul A. Falzone, “By being proactive leading up to Valentine’s Day, women can actually show their significant other’s how Valentine’s Day  can be a date to be anticipated, not dreaded.”

Here are some strategies Falzone recommends women try to get their sweetie excited about Valentine’s Day:

  • Leave a racy text – Send them a racy text .
  • Mail a card – There’s just something special about receiving a Valentine in the mail—even for a guy. Again, send it early so he receives it with plenty of time to reciprocate. If you want to talk about having a special evening with him on Valentine’s, even better. Yet the focus should really be on how much you appreciate them.
  • E-mail reservations –  If there’s a restaurant, B&B or hotel you’ve been looking to go to, make reservations ahead of time and share it with your mate. Ask him if he wants to go there for Valentine’s.
  • Alternate years for Valentine’s Day planning – Decide to have one of you plan Valentine’s Day activities and alternate years. Does this open the door for him to do nothing when it’s his turn? Possibly. Yet men are competitive and do not like to look bad or be shown up. So, if you show him a great Valentine’s Day, the onus is on him to top it the next year.

“It is quite easy to get stuck in the rut of Valentine’s being the proverbial greeting card holiday,” said Falzone. “The idea behind ladies taking over Valentine’s Day really is to make it a holiday you both enjoy and look forward to.” It’s also recommended that you show each other your appreciation by being thoughtful on the other 364 days of the year!

A holiday proposal…How to finish your holiday popping (the question).

December 8, 2010 //  by admin

NORWELL, MASSACHUSETTS…

Asking somebody to marry you is quite possibly the most important moment in your life. And no matter how you feel about your beloved, a creative, romantic way to pop the question isn’t always obvious. For many, it becomes a big problem. Fortunately, this time of year, a season known for giving, provides a number of opportunities to give those planning to pop the question inspiration.

“The holidays are a time when people get together with family and give gifts, right? So, even if you’re drawing a complete blank on how to propose, you really can’t go wrong by asking your partner to marry you as she opens that very special gift,” said Paul A. Falzone, CEO of eLove, one of the world’s largest online dating and matchmaking services. “Of course, it can be even better if you want to include your families as part of the proposal since the holidays do provide that opportunity as well.”

However, if you are looking to be a little bit mysterious or creative in how you propose, the holidays set a nice diversion. Some of the holiday-themed proposals Falzone recommends are:

  • Surprise Santa Visit – Instead of giving her the ring while opening up her other presents, hire a Santa to deliver it in person (see if you can recruit a friend if paying for the ring has left you a little short). Try to time it after all the presents have been opened, then text your Santa to come to the door. This is a great and easy way to involve family and friends as well.
  • Say it with lights – Get out the holiday lights and arrange them on a large board or somewhere in your home. Have them spell out, will you marry me? This will be far more effective than any scoreboard message at the ballgame or sky writing.
  • Good things in large packages, too – If you decide to go the present under the tree route, you might want to go for a little deception and pack your gift in a large box (with a smaller box inside that, etc, etc.). Of course, she will probably get the drift that something is up after the first box but that will give family members time to get their cameras ready.
  • When she least expects it- some people think that proposing on Christmas day or Christmas Eve is too contrived. If you are looking for shock value, do it either many days before, or at the very end of the festivities (when they think if it didn’t already happen, it won’t!)
  • An ornament worth hanging – That’s right, it may seem a little cheesy, but handing her a new ornament you picked up while decorating the tree might give you the surprise element you’re looking for.

“Of course, if you are really stuck for ideas, you can never really go wrong with getting down on one knee,” said Falzone. “Still, it’s a landmark moment in your life. While you will always remember her answer, making it extra special by doing some fun or creative is just icing on the cake.”

Love Story II…How to get back into the dating game after a long marriage.

June 16, 2010 //  by admin

NORWELL, MA…

They may have been the inspiration for the movie Love Story, but after 40 years of marriage, Al and Tipper Gore are calling it quits. Unusual that a couple married that long is getting a divorce? Not as much as many might think.

“You’ve heard the 40 is the new 30? Well with people living longer, 60 is going to more like the old 45,” said Paul Falzone, CEO of eLove, one of the world’s largest online dating and  matchmaking services. “At 60, people realize they could live another 20 30 years and they make the choice not to stay in an unhappy marriage rather than ride it out.”

While some people may divorce at a later age to get away from their current spouse, it begs the question of whether there can be a sequel to Love Story?

“Yes, yes and yes,” said Falzone, once divorced and now happily remarried for several years. “Being older and going through a divorce really is no different than somebody who’s 30. It’s not a life experience you wanted, but it happens. Now, after licking your wounds, you’re ready to get out there and see if you can find a Love Story with a happier ending.”

For many, it’s not that easy. It could have been years, even decades since you last actively sought a date. So, where do you start?

Falzone recommends:

●       Going slow – perhaps it’s a cliché, but a divorce is a life-altering event and you do need some time to heal.

●       Avoid the bar scene – Getting out with friends and co-workers as a way to re-enter the social scene but don’t do it as a way to meet potential dates.

●       Get fit – Being ready to date again means feeling good about yourself. Starting an exercise program or going to a gym can begin that process of feeling good about  you again.

●       Be wary of dating at work – it’s natural for you to be close to people you work with, particularly if they’ve helped you through a tough time. Just be careful before entering into a relationship or even dating somebody at the office.

●       Networking – While being set up might not be your idea of getting back into the dating game, if you’re looking it couldn’t hurt to let people in your social or professional network know that you are interested in meeting new people.

●       The ex – It’s safe to say that dwelling on the ex will not do much good in dating new people. Just remember that you’re dating again for you, not to get back at him/her or to find somebody before he or she does.

●       Take your time before introducing your dates to friends and, especially family – if you think your divorce is an adjustment for you, it’s also one for family, friends and your children—even if they’re adults. Wait before introducing your date to them.

“No matter what your age, no matter how long you were married, getting back into the dating game doesn’t have to be scary. It can actually be an exciting time of your new life but you want to do it for the right reasons and be able to enjoy it,” said Falzone. “Take it slow, be open and upbeat, and you can find love again.”
