Edgewood LifeCare Community Announces Farm to Table Event on July 23rd

July 15, 2015 //  by admin

_DSC8593-2Edgewood LifeCare Community, the award-winning, non-profit senior living community in North Andover, will hold a farm to table community event entitled “Delicious by Design” on Thursday, July 23, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at the Edgewood Patio, 575 Osgood Street, North Andover. There is no cost to attend.

Join the Edgewood community as they share their bounty in a fun, educational and interactive Farm to Table event. Attendees may indulge in freshly prepared dishes created by Edgewood’s culinary department, and learn how to cook simple, light and nutritious meals using fresh ingredients from locally sourced farms.

Edgewood obtains fresh produce from two different local farms for the summer – Herb Hill Micro-Dairy Farm in Andover and Simone’s Riverside Farm (a family-run farm with three generations of farmers) in Methuen. Valley View Farm in Topsfield provides fresh goat cheese and award winning ice cream comes from Richardson’s Farm in Middleton.

Farm to Table – a Way of Life at Edgewood

During the spring and summer, Edgewood offers their residents a true farm to table experience every day, using locally sourced ingredients from North Andover and surrounding areas, honey from their beehives, maple syrup tapped from their own maple trees, fresh herbs from their own herbaceous border, and wine that they bottle. They get fresh seafood from Gloucester and Boston and (occasionally) locally sourced pork and chicken. And, they’re always smoking – pork, salmon and brisket – on a regular basis. The culinary experience at Edgewood offers something for every resident’s palate, along with dining choices of two restaurants, private dining and a take-out option.

Seating is limited at the Farm to Table event and a reservation is required. To reserve a seat, RSVP to (978) 208-4230 or online at the Delicious By Design event page, www.edgewoodrc.com.

The Edgewood Difference

Founded in 1997, Edgewood LifeCare Community is an award-winning, non-profit senior living community focused on enriching the lives of their members. Edgewood offers independent living, health care and support services, which empower members to be the architects of their own well-being. Edgewood is dedicated to providing a well-rounded, intellectually stimulating and physically active environment for older adults. Members enjoy entertainment, trips, wellness programs and a wide range of unique lectures, classes and films, which are offered on an ongoing basis through the Edgewood LifeLong Learning (ELL) program. Many of these programs are also open to the public.

As the only LifeCare community in the Merrimack Valley, Edgewood offers refined independent apartment and cottage home living for active older adults as well as short term rehabilitation and long term care at the Meadows Health Center. Edgewood LifeCare Community boasts lower entrance fees as compared to the Greater Boston area, and monthly rates for services remain stable regardless of the level of care needed. Edgewood LifeCare Community is located at 575 Osgood Street in North Andover, MA. For more information, contact (978) 738-6145 or visit www.edgewoodrc.com.
