The future of dry cleaning comes to Needham. Lapels Dry Cleaning to open at 1189 Highland Avenue in Needham, MA.

Lapels Dry Cleaning, an innovative, environmentally friendly dry cleaning company headquartered in Hanover, Massachusetts, will open a new location on January 18 at 1189 Highland Avenue, Needham, Massachusetts. The Needham Lapels represents the 21st Lapels Dry Cleaning location to open in the Bay State (a store in Hingham, MA is set to launch later in 2014).

Hours for the new Needham Lapels Dry Cleaning store are Monday through Friday, 7 am to 7 pm; Saturday 8 am to 5 pm; and Sunday, 11 pm to 4 pm. The grand opening for the new Lapels will be held on February 22.

NEW ALBANY, MS and HANOVER, MA…

As an undergrad at Ole Miss, John Stroud combined an old fashioned work ethic with a feathery shooting touch to become the leading scorer in the SEC two years running and the top draft choice of the Houston Rockets. The New Albany resident is hoping the former of those two things pay off again with his latest venture, the opening of a Lapels Dry Cleaning store and plant in his hometown this spring.

Lapels Dry Cleaning is an innovative, environmentally friendly dry cleaning company headquartered in Hanover, Massachusetts. Stroud, owner of John Stroud Insurance Agency, first heard of Lapels when he became frustrated over the lack of dry cleaning options in the area.

“I’m 6’7” and have a lot of my clothes tailor-made to fit me. When you’re paying more for clothes you want to take care of them so they last a while. Unfortunately, there are not a lot of dry cleaners around here. That’s when my entrepreneurial instincts kicked in and I began to do some research and that’s how I discovered Lapels Dry Cleaning,” said Stroud. “With its commitment to greener dry cleaning and customer service, I saw an opportunity for a business that would fill a real need in New Albany.”

Beyond the cleaning process, Stroud cites the business model and the responsiveness of Lapels Corporate Team for his decision to purchase a Lapels franchise.

“I’m still going to be running my insurance agency coaching my daughter’s basketball team at the high school, so it was important to find an opportunity where I didn’t have to be on-site 24/7,” said Stroud. “With the training provided by Lapels and my wife Billye Jean as my partner in the business, I’m very comfortable that this is the perfect business opportunity for us and that the people in my hometown of New Albany are going to love it.”

The new Lapels Dry Cleaning store and plant will be located on Bankhead Street in New Albany. Construction for the new building has begun and a spring 2014 opening is projected.

“John and Billye Jean have been wonderful to work with through these beginning stages and very receptive to coaching, which is rather ironic with John being an actual coach,” said Kevin Dubois, CEO of Lapels Dry Cleaning. “Seriously, we are very excited about this new location as it represents the first Lapels Dry Cleaning in the state of Mississippi. For more than 40 years Nonotuck Resource Associates has helped transform the lives of hundreds of people with intellectual and physical disabilities by offering the personalized service of shared living and Adult Family Care (AFC). To meet the ever increasing demand from families for these non-traditional, value based services, Nonotuck recently added Kimberly Kell, Pamela Wilmore  and Crystal Rosado to its staff at its offices in Auburn, Massachusetts.

Pamela Wilmore, an assistant program director, re-joined Nonotuck on December 23. She had previously filled in as an assistant program director earlier in the year.  She has worked as an ABA Therapist in the Leicester and Southbridge public school systems. Wilmore has also worked at the Seven Hills Foundation as a special needs instructor. A Leicester, MA resident, She is currently enrolled at Bay Path College in the Applied Behavior Analysis program.

Crystal Rosado, an AFC RN, joined Nonotuck in November  after working in Nonotuck’s internship program. She graduated from Quinsigamond Community College in May 2013 with an associate’s degree in nursing. Rosado has held varied positions in healthcare, including bilingual medical assistant at the Family Health Center of Worcester. She received her acute care training at the Jewish Healthcare Center, St. Vincent’s Hospital and UMass Memorial Hospital.  Rosado resides in Worcester.

Kimberly Kell, AFC and RN, started with  Nonotuck on December 9 after working for many years at Seven Hills Foundation in Worcester in the day habilitation program. She also has work experience at Hubbard Hospital, St. Vincent’s Hospital and Whittier Rehabilitation Hospital. A Grafton, MA resident, Kell received her bachelor’s degree in nursing at Worcester State University in 1991.

“2013 has been a year of growth here at Nonotuck and nowhere has that been as true at our Auburn office at 4 Faith Avenue,” said George Fleischner, executive director of Nonotuck Resource Associates, Inc. “Kim, Pam and Crystal have demonstrated the qualities of superior caregivers at their previous places of employment and we are looking forward to that continuing during their careers at Nonotuck.”

Caregivers care. Nonotuck honors caregivers as part of National Caregivers Month

For more than 40 years Nonotuck Resource Associates has helped transform the lives of hundreds of people with intellectual and physical disabilities by offering the personalized service of shared living and Adult Family Care. As part of National Caregivers Month in November, Nonotuck honored 40 of its caregivers in the greater Worcester area with a celebratory dinner at its Auburn offices at 4 Faith Avenue on November 20.

At the dinner, each Nonotuck caregiver was presented with a congratulatory thank you card from Nonotuck Board of Directors, the CEO and all Nonotuck staff written in every language of this diverse group of Nonotuck caregivers. These care givers reside in Central Mass, principally in the greater Worcester area and they were all honored equally for their commitment, love and service. In addition, Nonotuck made a $500 donation each to four food bank organizations that cover western Mass, north central Mass, the Worcester Area, and the southeastern/Cape area of Mass on behalf of these Nonotuck Caregivers.

“Our caregivers do more than open up their homes to care for people from all walks of life. They literally share their lives with the people we serve. According to the Caregiver Action Network website, there are as many as 90 million family caregivers in U.S. today. Easton’s Makeovers Salon named 2013 Best Hair Salon, South.

It was a great hair year for Easton’s Makeovers Salon.  The popular salon recently earned

Boston Magazine’s prestigious designation of 2013 Best Hair Salon, South.  Additionally Makeovers relocated the salon to 594Washington Street in South Easton, MA – just down the street from their former site.

 

The new location includes a “loft” feel and includes exposed beams, wooden floor and a hip urban feel.  The new salon is 6000 square feet, includes 23 styling stations and is employs a staff of 60.
