Emily Tierney, MD of South Shore Skin Center and Spa Speaks at Dermatology Nurses Association Annual Convention

South Shore Skin Center and Spa’s Emily Tierney, MD, a renowned board certified dermatologist and recognized skin cancer expert and Mohs Micrographic surgeon was a guest speaker at the Dermatology Nurses Association’s (DNA) 29th Annual Convention in San Diego, CA. South Shore Skin Center and Spa is one of the most progressive dermatology practices in Massachusetts and has offices in Cohasset and Plymouth.

Dr. Tierney, one of the DNA’s faculty lecturers, spoke about new developments in skin cancer ranging from prognostic factors to the latest therapies. Dr. Tierney emphasized what dermatology nurses need to know about skin cancer as well as the latest and developing treatments.

Several of South Shore Skin Center and Spa’s providers attended continuing education seminars at the DNA. Jean Adams, RN, BSN, Cosmetic Nurse Specialist, Nicole Giardino, RN and Michelle Nobles, RN earned educational credits in cosmetic and general dermatology.

Barry M. Austin, M.D. Joins South Shore Skin Center and Spa

South Shore Skin Center and Spa one of the most progressive dermatology practices in Massachusetts with offices in Cohasset and Plymouth, is pleased to announce Barry M. Austin, M.D., a Board Certified Dermatologist and Dermatopathologist, has recently joined the practice.

Dr. Austin is specialty-trained as a Dermatopathologist to study skin biopsies and the pathogenesis of skin diseases. He will treat medical and surgical dermatology patients at both locations.

Previous to South Shore Skin Center and Spa, Dr. Austin ran his own dermatology practice in Rutland, VT for 25 years and also served as Adjunct Professor of Dermatology at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center for 12 years. In 2008 he moved to Lake Oswego, Oregon to join the Lake Oswego Dermatology Group, before returning to New England.

Dr. Austin holds a Bachelor of Science in Biology and a Bachelor of Medical Science from Dartmouth College in Hanover, New Hampshire. He received his medical degree from the University of Pennsylvania and completed his dermatology training at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center. Dr. Austin is a dermatologist on staff at Jordan Hospital and South Shore Hospital. He is a Fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology.
