DirectBuy of Tinley Park

Polish off your spring cleaning…DirectBuy locations in and around Chicago provide tips on stainless steel care.

April 29, 2009 //  by admin

CHICAGO, HOFFMAN ESTATES, NAPERVILLE, TINLEY PARK, IL …

Mention “spring cleaning” and most people think of cleaning out the garage. Or perhaps spreading seed on your lawn or mulching your flower garden. Yet giving the interior of your home a thorough cleaning after a long winter indoors can pick up your spirits like the first 70-degree day of spring. The DirectBuy clubs of greater Chicago, the leading home improvement and furnishings club with direct insider prices, have some helpful tips on cleaning some of the toughest spots you might encounter during your spring cleaning: your stainless steel appliances.

“You’ll probably find stainless steel in the majority of homes nowadays on everything from refrigerators to stoves to countertops,” said I.J. Sell, owner of DirectBuy of Tinley Park. “In terms of keeping stainless clean, what you should NOT do is every bit as important as what you should do.”

For example, when cleaning stainless steel, you’ll want to completely avoid using the following:

  • Products containing chlorine
  • Steel wool or brushes
  •  Abrasive cleaners

For the most part, you can simply use soapy water and a soft cloth to clean your stainless steel appliances. For tougher stains, you may need to use a stainless steel cleaner and there are many types on the market today. You’ll just need to find one that works for you.

In addition, there are also a number of products on the market that can reduce the smudgeability factor of stainless steel, a big issue if you have little ones. Zeps is one product that works well on smudges; Simple Human puts out a sponge mitt that’s also effective in removing and minimizing finger print marks.

Regardless of the type of cleaner you use, any residue left on the surface may permanently damage the finish. Always rinse off the surface after cleaning. If you follow the above advice and still have spots or stains, it may be caused by your water. Hard water can leave spots, but drying completely after cleaning will usually fix this problem.

“Stainless steel sure looks great, but it’s something that needs regular maintenance to keep it looking great,” said Sell. “ By following the above steps and completely cleaning your stainless steel appliances at least once a week, you can prolong the beauty of your appliances for years to come.”

DirectBuy carries a large selection of stainless steel appliances at wholesale prices direct from the manufacturers and their authorized suppliers. In addition, each DirectBuy club employs product specialists and designers who can help members create the kitchen or bath that works best for their home.

Since 1971, DirectBuy clubs have offered members the opportunity to enjoy enormous savings on home furnishings, home improvement items, entertainment and outdoor products and accessories by buying wholesale, directly from the manufacturer. DirectBuy of Tinley Park owner celebrates 35 years in business

April 10, 2009 //  by admin

TINLEY PARK, IL…

Before Ed Sell purchased his DirectBuy franchise back in 1974, the world was a different place. Richard Nixon had yet to resign from office. Not everybody had a color television. There was still no such thing as a free agent in baseball. Yet in celebrating his 35th anniversary with DirectBuy, Sell is still sold on the DirectBuy concept of providing members the opportunity to purchase name brand products at direct insider prices.

“My first experience with DirectBuy was as a member back in 1972. So I experienced the kind of savings you can only get by buying directly from the manufacturer firsthand. You could say I was impressed with the company from the very start because shortly after I joined applied for a job there and eventually wanted to buy my own franchise,” said Sell.

Sell opened his DirectBuy in Calumet, Illinois back in March of 1974. He ran his franchise in that location until 2000 before expanding his territory and opening the current location at 18400 S. 76th Avenue in Tinley Park, Illinois. About seven years into his ownership, Sell acquired a business partner when he married I.J., the current Mrs. Sell.

“Ed didn’t have to, pardon the pun, sell me on DirectBuy. It was clear to me from the start that this was a great company and a great business. Twenty-nine years later, for me, and 35 for Ed, we still take a tremendous amount of satisfaction in seeing people get more for their money and avoiding retail markups,” says I.J.

The leading home improvement and furnishings club with direct insider prices, DirectBuy of Tinley Park Estates offers manufacturer-direct pricing on products ranging from light fixtures to televisions to kitchen cabinets, all from more than 700 manufacturers and their authorized suppliers. DirectBuy also offers design, delivery and installation services.

“Our 35 years in business have not only given us the opportunity to help families in the greater Chicago area and northwestern Indiana create the home of their dreams, but to also establish ourselves as part of the local business community and as a contributor to local charities,” said Sell. “We look forward to further cultivating those relationships with our customers and the community as we build toward even bigger and better things in the years to come.”

Nothing second-hand about giving…DirectBuy of Tinley Park donates computers to Goodwill; furniture to Catholic Charities.

January 2, 2009 //  by admin

TINLEY PARK, IL…

Over the years, DirectBuy has been recognized for giving families the opportunity to buy directly from the manufacturer and save hundreds, even thousands, on home improvement projects, furniture, appliance and many other household items. DirectBuy has also earned a reputation for its generosity in the communities they serve. A fine example of that is DirectBuy of Tinley Park for its recent donation to Catholic Charities and Goodwill.

DirectBuy of Tinley Park donated 12 computers, complete with keyboard and monitors, to Goodwill, located in Orland Park, Illinois. In addition, they also donated several brand new pieces of furniture and appliances to Catholic Charities, including a washing machine, twin bedroom set and living room fireplace.

“We’ve been supporters of Catholic Charities and Goodwill for a long time now. Yet with these difficult economic times we’re currently in, we wanted to do a little more this year, something that went beyond writing a check. By contributing furniture and appliances to Catholic Charities and the computers to Goodwill, we’re providing items that we know will be put to good use,” said I.J. Sell, owner of DirectBuy of Tinley Park.

That type of generosity is fairly standard for DirectBuy. Showroom owners nationwide donate to any number of organizations, and have shown a particular affinity for making contributions to children/family-oriented organizations like Boys & Girls Club, YMCA and children’s hospitals.

Since 1971, DirectBuy franchises have offered members the opportunity to enjoy enormous savings on home furnishings, home improvement items, entertainment and outdoor products and accessories by buying wholesale, directly from the manufacturer. With five convenient locations in the greater Chicago area (Chicago, Gurnee, Hoffman Estates, Naperville, and Tinley Park), consumers can enjoy a comfortable, country-club setting, where they finally have the financial control of buying direct.
