MARSHFIELD, MA … A Boston Children’s Hospital Blood Drive and a 3v3 Basketball Tournament inspired by Patrick McLaughlin, a 16 year-old Marshfield resident who was diagnosed with Aplastic Anemia, will be held at the Boys & Girls Club of Marshfield on Saturday, October 15, 2022.
The “Points & Pints for Patrick” event is being held in his honor to raise awareness for this rare disease and to help all who are undergoing treatment.
Patrick McLaughlin was diagnosed with Aplastic Anemia in June 2022. Aplastic anemia is a condition that occurs when your body stops producing enough new blood cells. The condition leaves you fatigued and more prone to infections and uncontrolled bleeding. Treatment for aplastic anemia can include medications, blood transfusions or a stem cell transplant, also known as a bone marrow transplant.
The Boston Children’s Hospital Bloodmobile Drive will be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and the 3v3 Basketball Tournament will be held from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Boys & Girls Club of Marshfield, 37 Proprietors Drive.
The Bloodmobile will be on-site at the Club. To make an appointment to donate, please go to: bostonchildrens.org/halfpints and use sponsor code: BGCM. For more information, contact Meghan Enwright at cmenwright@yahoo.com or contact the Blood Donor Center at 617-355-6677.
