Chabad of the South Shore invites the community to gather in celebration, gratitude, and light at the annual Plymouth Menorah Lighting, taking place Sunday, December 21 at 5:00 PM. This year’s event falls on the eighth and final night of Hanukkah, bringing the festival to its brightest moment.
The celebration will be held at a meaningful and historic location — the corner of Water Street and North Street, directly across from Plymouth Rock — symbolizing the rich heritage of the region and the enduring message of Hanukkah: bringing light into darkness.
Attendees can enjoy an array of traditional and festive holiday offerings, including:
- Hanukkah treats
- Hot drinks
- Chocolate gelt
- Menorah kits
- Dreidels
The event is free and open to all, welcoming families, visitors, and community members of every background to experience the warmth and joy of Hanukkah together.
A special appearance will also be made by “Judah the Maccabi”, a lively and engaging character who brings the Chanukah story to life with interactive moments and joyful photo opportunities for children and adults alike.
“These gatherings have shown to uplift spirits and strengthen community,” said Rabbi Levi Lezell, director of Chabad of the South Shore. “And on the night we light all eight branches of the Menorah, its message feels especially powerful. After the difficult years we’ve all navigated, Chanukah calls on us to always increase light, increase kindness, and remember that even a small flame can push illimunat great darkness, even effortlessly. With hope, unity and positive perseverance, goodness ultimately prevails.”
He added, “This gathering is a reminder that even in the darkest times, we can always spread light, kindness, and community. We look forward to celebrating with the entire Plymouth community.”
